Very nice! And enjoy your trip!
-
We gotta meet for a coffee and go over a few things on the bike. I just live up the road from you and we do travel to Souris often for icecream! Currently on days off.

They sure ride funny when the pressures are low dont they! Wait...I wouldnt know that...how would I know that!! Never done anything like that in my life!

I used Castrol on my 89 before selling it with no issues. Any oil will do its job. Regular oil changes are whats important. The dealer may or may not be trying to sell you a more expensive brand just because it says "yammalube". I guess you could check the "ingrediants" on each for a comparison. Any oil for the bike should be non energy conserving or the clutch will start to slip. And, if you were thinking of going synthetic after all these years...I wouldn't. You could pop leaks all over. My opinion is just that, so keep in mind there are many other folks with differant ideas.

Trunk LED project
sarges46 replied to lonestarmedic's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
I like it! My old 89 had the light bar with incadescent lights and was real visable as well. Bit of a power draw though. LED should not draw anything....nice work. -
Yes it was the blue and not my newer midnight. And I have been paying attention to how to do things on it as well! Boo...I did think of giving it back....lol....thats all though...I thought of it. Kidding around. It is a good bike. You will not find be teasing either bike even in jest....both are great. The new one fits my riding (sitting) style now. The knees couldnt take the foot under postion anymore. This funny....I told Marilyn this evening...now I can take the black one in to the dealer and trade it in for the new grey RSV he has in the show room. She didnt even blink....actually said it was a ok idea. Will I do that? Nope. To many farckles to replace. I also looked at a new wing today just for giggles. Nice looking .....feet under and only 27000 bucks. Dont think so Tim!

Every bike, every helmet reminds me of him...Tom E.
sarges46 replied to Ladyrider's topic in Watering Hole
While on one hand it is great to hear from you...the brain is trying hard to digest the information about the court case etc. For the life of me I cannot imagine having my spouse go through that nightmare. Where are the folks with enough guts to call a spade a spade....Tom didnt stop but tried to go around so its partially his fault....come on give us decent common sense people a break. We all know he was doing evasive manouvering and probably braking at the same time but the folks behind didnt see or notice that. That other stuff is why comedians have so much ammo for bad lawyer jokes. What a shame that you are to be subjected to this. You're right....its about money and a damn shame that those responsible will not stand up and say so. Take care and know we are still here. Funny thing is I was just wondering about what's up with you and your family. Crazy isnt it. -
That'll get your attention.... Just watched as my 89 Blue and matching trailer drove away with a new happy owner. It is a sad day as that bike was the start of me riding again. It was a beautiful bike and ran like a top. Thanks to Boo, who sold it to me and got me started. Will the new owner join us? I dont know....I get the feeling he may not...didnt seem too interested in forums. But it is gone now and will be ridden as it should be and not sitting in the driveway gathering dust.

passenger arm rests for 07 RSTD
sarges46 replied to guns_usn_20's topic in Royal Star and Royal Star Tour Deluxe Tech Talk
No prob Jim. With the model that sits straight up and bolted to the side arms, we found that reversing the bolts so they come from the inside of the backrest leg made it easy and fast to remove the armrests when our kids are not riding with us. The one that attaches right to the back part of the backrest...I have no idea if it can be removed quickly or not. The price sure has gone up for the set we got! I paid 125 for them at valueaccessories. They were great to deal with as well. They sent me an email telling me that they noticed their invoice and that they had sent two right hand rests! The proper one was sent immediately and arrived here before the original package did! They also did not want the extra back and said just use for a spare. Good deal. -
Hmmmm.......pretty, fast, clean lines......I agree, nice gig you got. I would love to fly in a fighter, but I am too old and too fat and have no connections anymore.

passenger arm rests for 07 RSTD
sarges46 replied to guns_usn_20's topic in Royal Star and Royal Star Tour Deluxe Tech Talk

passenger arm rests for 07 RSTD
sarges46 replied to guns_usn_20's topic in Royal Star and Royal Star Tour Deluxe Tech Talk
Does the bike have the same hand grips for the passenger that the RSV has? If so then diamondr is the only way to go. Motorcycle accessory warehouse has a bolt on pair that I got for Marilyns Vstar. Goes on and off in a minute or so and work great for long trips with the kidlet on the back. It does look funny when left on and no passenger. There is also another model that bolts to the backrest right behind the pad. I'm sorry but I cant remember where I saw that. Maybe google armrests and see what you come up with. -
I would offer you mine. It got bent in a slow speed drop but doesnt sound as bad as yours. I do have to wait a bit though...insurance is still trying to figure out if I have to give back the parts that were replaced.

Now he's gonna know just how ugly we all are! Not the ladies of course...they only add class to the group! Sure glad it went well.

First ad-Venture will be, 1000+ miles: advice?
sarges46 replied to FutureVentures's topic in Watering Hole
When I brought my bike home last year I did the same thing. I flew down to Atlanta (milk run airlines!) where the seller picked me up at the airport and took me home. We went out for supper had a nice visit and changed the oil in the hot humid Atlanta heat! It was great! Left early the next morning (Fri). Met RSVAngel along the way and he took me to some back roads...great riding! Met Jerry(Boo) near his place and we did lunch/supper. I did get storm stayed for a few hours in Minneapolis after staying the night with Linda and Ron (kantornado). All told I drove 1800 miles and got home Monday. 1700 miles of that was in the rain! Man...what a great trip.....I got to know my baby real well during that. Would I do that again...nope....it seems sometimes that we are rushed to the destination and have forgotten why we ride....its the journey. While the ride was great, I am well aware that I missed some awful nice side roads and sights that I should have seen. Enjoy the trip home....if you are in an area you wont be again for awhile...and have the time....stop and smell the roses. Ride safe and put the cb on 19 if you can stand trucker chatter. They do give tips on highway stuff ahead. -
Hadn't seen the news yet. Our thoughts are with the families. Those things are scary.....we only get a few up here, but they are wild!
