Wow...one of the reasons I dont like driving at night. Day time with them is bad enough. It's a shame though, as riding on a nice warm evening with hardly any traffic is really really nice. There are several members who are still riding after deer strikes...a couple even more than once have hit deer. We are glad that you both are going to be fine. That was a pretty bike.

1983 Royale colors
sarges46 replied to Condor's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
I dont but my old 89 was built in Oct of 88, I didnt know that until I hit the Canadian border...it made the bike over 15 years old when I brought it over....saved me having to go through the Import Vehicle hassle plus saved a little over 200 bucks I would have had to pay them folks. -
I was wondering the same thing!? We got back about an hour ago. No real issues at the border. The weather was not bad...at least it wasnt windy or raining! Guys/gals.....we drove throught the most horrible wind yesterday...to the point where we actually pulled off the road in a town and took shelter on the leeward side of a building. The shop owners where scurring about trying to put the flowers inside for the 4 time that day. Thats how we spent the trip from Grand Rapids to Tower and back to Gary's. Start stop and let the next black cloud go by...run for a bit and do it again. Next to a tornado or hurricane...I have never experianced something so bad. And me towing 400 pounds of camper and goodies! Gas mileage sucks when its like that too! Great visit with the small gang....and yes....Marilyn is amazing isnt she! We did manage to talk the Owl into staying the night at Gary and Ann's...he was going to head out on his bike at 11pm for a 5 hour drive home. Fortunetly (sp) common sense took over for him and we didnt have to resort to plan B....that would have been ugly.....vision...bike tie downs and duct tape! It was great to meet Brandi and Crow for the first time...she is everything you want in a friend. We did some figuring that if nothing else, Brandi is saving a ton of money on gas! No....we forgot the darn camera sitting on the counter at home!!!

Learned something new....thanks for sharing your painful lesson! And I hope it heals quickly.

Nice bike!

Really great news! Take it one day at a time....great day for you I bet!

I would think that is just a rider they put on so they cant be sued. Sort like the bike manufacturer saying you cant tow trailers.

Fairly new to the new products Mike, just going with the flow based on what I've read either here or the other forum. I have the OEM on my 05 and its in great shape. The other thing I considered it that it is made for the RSV trunk and one would think that it has all the right "bends" in all the right places for a good fit.

I had to look through several pages and finally found a picture with the back open and top lid lifted. Looks good!

Sorry Dave...I used a "blue" lens fog...they were quit small bullet shaped and looked pretty good...why blue lens...bike was two tone blue....thats the only reason for the color. My bud here runs with the yellow fogs and they are not that great. I can hardly see them over the main light when he gets far enough behind. But then again they are older. Mine had their own switch which caused me grief cause I kept forgetting to turn them off! They will kill a battery dead dead dead over night!

Most folks will say the yamaha one is the best. Fairly cheap here http://www.ysppart.com/pages/catalogs/viewproductlargeimagehotitem/26/198/398/20151/1/0/1/0/0/0/0/0/0/0/500/trunk-rack.aspx There are other cheap ones to be had that will work...jpcycles, wingthings. But I've heard the quality is not as good.

I saw a set that mounted on the rear crash bar and where adjustable upwards for short legged passengers, but that was on a 1st gen. My only other thought is to replace them with pegs. But Mamma might not be happy with those and her foot might still be in the way.

Well, I guess you could get away with just one side. But the idea is for the chains to cross forming sort of a basket that the tongue can fall in to if the thing disconnects.
-
Dan On another note, should you get enough money back, will your work let you buy back the sick time? My place will....that could restore your "retirement" a little.

The only thing I would really watch for is the draw on the charging system. Now my 89 blue would not handle the draw and I could watch the battery drain as I was driving along....that was with 55watt bulbs. I eventually found 35 watt ones and they worked fine. The usable light was non-existant but I had the "triangle" of light up front like I wanted. To be seen. I had Squids brackets on and they worked slick. You can mount darn near anything there. (I also had Squids thicker wires on as well, which greatly improved things, but still too much draw (55w)for my old bike)

Sorry, but am I the only one having a tough time swallowing this from the mechanic? Even so, he should have tightened the steering head so it doesnt shake, or if they were that bad he should have replaced the bearing. Whatcha all think?
-
Hook it to the bolts that hold the swivel in place. You might need a larger bolt.
-
Thats a corbin backrest.

Now, there is a good question. One would think, knowing nothing of aerodynamics, that it would save some gas on the v shape trailer as it doesnt have to plow through so much wind.

Fork Oil - Level or Quantity
sarges46 replied to Squeeze's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
They wont be the cheapest but yammi still has them. Any of the motorcycle stores on the internet should have them. -
83 TCI is differant from all the others. This is a dumb question....or idea....try new plugs. Maybe you flooded the ole girl and fouled the plugs. It doesnt take much. I had to replace all the plugs on my 89 the day I sold her because I fouled them something aweful. Would crank like crazy but not fire at all. Seems cheapest and easiest thing to try first.
