Oh Oh....hope he's going to be alright? Our thoughts go out to him for a speeding and complete healing. -
I did my old 89 as well from the instructions here. Ask away and you will get much help from many people. And, as stated before...some even know what they are talking about! Not me though....I've been know to mess up a few things!

North Dakota, besides Wisconsin, has got to have to most deer in the world it seems. I run highway 2 at least twice a year from Rugby eastward and the deer at dusk and dawn are unbelievable! Devils Lake area is probably the worst of all. So sorry for you and your friends....what a terrible thing to happen. Are thoughts are with all the families.

Some parts will and some wont fit the classic. Dont ask what is what though. My wife has a custom and there are some differances. I should point her to this thread and see if there is anything she is interested in. She wont admit it much...but she likes safety chrome too. Oh, and if the classic parts fit your bike...go for it...dont wait for us to buy em....I wasnt saying about the differances to scare you away so we could buy em up!

What year did your bike come into service. I know its probably too late, but check it anyway...there could be warranty left. That item is a warranty fix. Remember 5 years from when it came into service not manufacture date.

I have a bunkhouse. It is a bit heavy but tows good. Nice big bed and easy access to plenty of storage space. The leisure-lite and others like it have a quick set up but I wonder what you folks do with your goodies once you are set up? If I really had the money I would get a Rolla-home with the big bed option. This is a quick set up like the leisure-lite but also has storage under the bed.

Great to see you all had a wonderful time! The Black Hills are excellent for riding and seeing sites. That will be a holiday destination for us. Hopefully soon...depending on where next years annual venturerider meet is. We are taking our kids to the meet in Kitchner this year and we both hope they will enjoy it as much as we do. Our daughter loves to ride but the son (15) is a typical teen...kind of "whatever" attitude sometimes...lol.

Its called the Jason mod I believe. I have it done on my bike. I couldnt tell you if its any better or not as this was already done when I bought the bike. I havent driven one that wasnt done.

Noddy...a irregular member here bought a set of avons for his 91 from southwest moto a month or so ago. At my recommendation mind you. He got the typical great service, prompt delivery, good price. He noticed the other day that the front tire is "checking", or otherwords, cracking all around the rim area. Mine did that a couple years ago from a set I bought at Sturgis. Now, Gord has to take off the tire and send it back to SWM and they will send him a new one....great..but he cannot ride without a tire very well...so may be stuck. He was hoping to get them to send him a new one and then he would send the old one back just to cut time off the road. They can't/won't do that. This tire is a great one and he is pleased with the performance but I am hearing more of the issue with the cracks. Not on the 2nd gens just the 1st gens. His tire was made fall last year judging by the date code.

Opinions opinions! For my two cents I would go with the brand name. You would have the whole company behind you for parts etc. Name brands should stand for better quality and better resale later down the road. Scooters are getting real popular thus driving up the price...mostly because of gas prices I guess. There are sure some fancy ones out there.

My stuffed bear wears army combats with my name and rank and artillery badges on it. This is my riding buddy. I am never alone. As we travel down the road the wind causes him to "wave" at the vehicles we pass or that pass us.

Geess....what a mess! I hope some folks just stop worrying about whats not "our responsibility" and start thinking about doing the right thing. What if a murder had been commited and noticed on the camera.....would this be even happening? Another common sense thing goes down the drain.

I did on my first gen a couple years ago while in Sturgis. Developed a huge bulge in the tire and had to get new ones there. Got raped for the installation and didnt even get kissed! And it was more than that...closer to 400 and after the conversion to Canadian it came over 500 bucks. But Venoms are a good tire. For both down at Sturgis was around 2oo bucks and the rest was installation.

My little girl (11) falls asleep just around the time that we exit the driveway! Well, ok, thats a bit of tale but cannot do a trip without her going out. I got armrests for Marilyns bike for that reason and am rigging something up for my bike for our trip to Ontario.

Quick check for diaphrams.....take off false tank cover...remove airfilter cover and cover. Watch your nose!!! Looking down into the carb intakes give her a few revs...watching the slides in the carbs....they should be "dancing" back and forth equally. Like I said though watch your nose hairs!! It doesnt like running with no airfilter! It might backfire and runs like crap too....but you can see if things are working as they should be.

First of all...if going the headset route, I wouldnt spend alot of money on the j+m...the ones from wingthings are just fine. If you want to spend a little more then seriously look at the the edsets. The demo they show on the their site is impressive. Sounds like a good sounding unit. Check out Don's (Freebird) link to the group edset purchase. Nope, you cant speak to a chatterbox with a cb. Now...sierra electronics is the cheapest place to get this set up for your dad. Its the portable cb and intercom (or without intercom if he rides alone). It mounts on the handlebar and looks very good. What I have done with Marilyns bike...( the big test is coming) is buy a smaller intercom unit from ebay for around 80 bucks. This unit allows her to plug in her sat radio and both her and the passenger can listen and talk to each other. It also has the ability to attach a portable cb (not included). I dont know how good this thing is...but I figure for 80 bucks if it gets us to Ontario and back its not bad. The passenger ( our daughter) loves talking while riding. I will try and find the link and post it back here.
