RIP. Very nice tribute. I noticed there was a Canadian connection there as well, one slide showed a number of RCMP officers. Very cool. Thanks

Ignition switch heating up
sarges46 replied to kkent66's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Thats a good thought about the rad. But I wouldnt think it would get so hot thats its too hot to touch. Bike should be still under warranty...maybe take it in and tell you think the switch is going south, cause that is what it sounds like to me. (but wadda I know) -
Whats the tire pressure say on the side wall of the front tire? You might want to run the tire pressure close to the max rating on the side wall....same for the rear. After that then maybe the tire is not balanced properly.

This is the best guidance one can give. We (government) frown on carrying guns...if caught with a handgun you will likely end up in jail...no kidding. A fella I met at one of the meets said he buried his handgun beside a tree on the US side and came over then retrieved it when he went home! I cant speak on insurance but we have thousands upon thousands of US guests visiting here and one would suspect that like ours, their isurance covers them to travel. It would be silly not to....but worthwhile to check out. I presume you are crossing into Ontario. Nice there but busy. Manitoba...just set the cruise and tie the handlebars straight and relax....not many curves here!

Our thoughts and prayers go out for his family and Annette. Rest in Peace Bob.

low volume on headset none thru speakers?
sarges46 replied to CaptainJoe's topic in GPS, Audio, Electronics
You are getting a snow job. This bike is "bumper to bumper" 5 year warranty. Perhaps time to find a dealer you can trust. -
Buy from the US and save save save...did I mention you will save!? Texas Yamaha, Seattle Yamaha. I have dealt with both. Dont ever ever ship to Canada with UPS or Fedex from the states! You will get killed because of the brokerage fee's! Anyone that will ship USPS is good. Or if you are close to the border find a border services company just across the line and ship to them. UPS or Fedex can be real reasonable then...the dealers might even have free shipping to US addresses. There will be a small fee from the border services folks but its well worth it. Most of the stuff I buy are from the US and I ship it just south of us. It takes me close to an hour to get there but its still worth it. Plus our government wants its GST when you come back so be prepared for that.

Which gear is better for towing a trailer on a free way
sarges46 replied to E-Fishin-C's topic in Watering Hole
They roll pretty easy Charlie. Once going you should be able to use 5th at highway speed. You will find yourself shifting more in the hills though. Lots of guys drive in 4th only and seldon use 5th even without a trailer. You are going to have to drive it around some to see what suits you. I use 5th and I pull a camper which is fairly heavy. -
I'd have to go look Charlie. I bought the bike used as well and put over 6 k miles on it since. Gord bought my old one and I am not sure what the date code is on those.

Thats the wrong size isnt it? I am sure we have a 15 inch rear tire...I just asked this on the site a couple of days ago MU85B15 I believe it was the correct size.

Thanks Mike Danged front tire on my bike and the rear of a friends are both cracked.....yeah....Avons. I guess I am done with those now. Too bad cause they sure are a nice tire, but I just cant afford to replace them each year!
-
Because I am a dumb dumb and cant find what I want after searching my heart out. What exactly is the new fangled code number for the rear tire RSV Elite 3! They spell it out in numbers for the front thank goodness but the rear .... Is it MU85B15?
-
About half that Charlie. If you go to the max it will wear out in the middle very quickly! We wore one out on our cargo trailer cause I thought it was the right thing to do. What is the load rating? I was told by the tire guy that the max air goes with max load for the tire...not the trailer. My tires were 60 lbs air max. for 750 lbs rated tire. Only carried about 250 lbs and wore that sucker out about half way to Arkansas last summer.

Good thoughts from all involved. Gary, our hearts still go out to you. We ride seperate bikes and that can be challenging as well. I find myself constantly watching my rear view if she is following and chatting up if she is leading. Just to complicate things we both ride with our kids. Our daughter rides with Mom and our son rides with me. This brings a whole new fear into both of us during these times. We are careful. I dumped my son last year in Arkansas and Marilyn dumped our daughter in Ontario the year before. Both were slow speed stuff but still had potential for some hurts. Both kids did great and apparently listened when we talked to them about how to get off quickly if the bike is falling over. Both stepped off like champs and in my sons case he got a good chuckle watching his old man go over the windshield in roll into the ditch! We all love to ride and life is too short. Yes, we worry about the what ifs.... but as mentioned we can only control things to a certain degree, after that it's up to the big guy and his plans.
