It almost sounds like someone had a trailer wired up or some other lighting system parellell (sp) to the stock and really messed with things. .

Canadian oil filter cross-reference
sarges46 replied to shikano53's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Ok, if you are paying that much for a litre of oil then that price isnt too bad for a filter I guess. Man that stuff is expensive, I never realized! But, again some swear by it. Bet you are getting the snow blues already! I know we are, we just got dumped on again! My poor son, I broke the snowblower yesterday trying to start it for him. Now he's gotta hand bomb it! -
Man I am sorry to hear this happening for you Michael! No lemon law with bikes is there? One would think that they would just take it back and give you a new one. That would be good practises but I know the company we deal with.

New Guy Questions?
sarges46 replied to TearlessTom's topic in Royal Star and Royal Star Tour Deluxe Tech Talk
Rear shock is a major problem with our bikes. They tend to wear out quickly for some folks. Yours will still be under warranty me thinks. You can check that as the 5 year bumper to bumper warranty starts from the first day the bike went into service. Important that you dont use power air for the forks. Get yourself a hand held. Many of us use the hand pumps from Progressive. Pressure's are yours to play with as mentioned. Gearing is funny with 5th being a overdrive kind of gear. It likes to rev so dont be a quick shifter. Dont try to pass a car while in 5th and doing under 65. It will feel like a elephant is on your butt! Gear down....there is plenty of power if in the right gears. Take this bike for a spin and listen for the dreaded clutch basket howl. I have never had a howler with both the RSV's I've had. They all have a pretty classic yamaha whine if you will caused by square cut gears. Enjoy! -

Update and question
sarges46 replied to SC89Venture's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
Well, when I had a first gen and no jack I used the nose dive technique and it worked great! I then had a jack and that worked great too! I now have a second gen and the nose dive is a no go...unless I am driving into a ditch or something again! And I can honestly say that most of what I do myself makes me nervous as all get out...getting started is the hardest. Once I am done its great. And I've made a couple of trips between the bike and here over some job or other at times. Cant help ya with the brakes...that stuff scares me! -
They are great folk arent they! We hung out around the fire in Kitchner as well ...what a blast.
-
Now that's pretty cool right there! I can imagine the accidents you will cause by looky-loos wondering WTH! BTW...that is one gorgeous 1st gen you have there!
-
Dang that sucks! We sure hope it all works out in the end, without too much sacrifising (sp).

Canadian oil filter cross-reference
sarges46 replied to shikano53's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
No problem. Let us know what the yammi one costs! I bet you will bang your head against the wall given what yammy charges for stuff! I myself buy nothing but what I need right now from our dealer here. I've bought many things from Texasyamaha or Seattle yamaha. Almost half the price. (That includes my passing lights), Mind you, never get anything shipped by UPS or Fedex. They charge brokerage fees that will make you cry! USPS is the best way to ship from the US. -
Yes. I wired mine through a relay hooked up so they always come on. I bypassed the switch it came with.

How quick do you need one Chris? If you have the time I can just send you one of mine....no cost but a beverage one day. -
Canadian oil filter cross-reference

I dont know if Canadian Walmart carries these, but you could have a look and maybe cross reference them. Walmart Super-tech 7317 I buy 6 or so at a time when I am south. Marilyns vstar uses the same filter...she has the barons adaptor. Cheap and good quality. When I looked up motomaster filters it says they are rebranded Fram, and made in China. -
Our thoughts are with you guys at this trying time. Make sure to take care of yourself as well Ben. Tough to do when things are as they are...but you need to do that.
-
Congrats on the new position. While you are doing that I am looking forward to being unemployed!
-
Yes they all have them as stock. I rode for a while without em but found the fairing too rattly. I was worried about vibrating itself to death and put mine on...I just wedged them in. They work fine and havent moved.

Early models had the hard seat only. Then a little later the midnights had the hard seat and the other models had the pillow top seat. The brandy new ones all have the pillow top I believe. It is softer but I dont think enough. Rick Butler can do a mod for your hard seat that will work wonders for the tail bone. Also get a back rest if you dont have one. It works great. Then of course there are many other seat makers that can do one for the RSV....I am having a moment and cant think of a single one right now!!

When I bought my 07 from Michael in the US part of the import process was to get a "Recall" letter from Yamaha. This is to ensure that any recall work has been done or is done before allowing the bike to be registered in Canada. At that time there were no recalls on the 07. Maybe its a tech bulletin which is differant.

Congrats to all!!

Out thoughts are with the family and with Nathan. This can be a devastating disease to fight.
-
Congrats....er sort of anyway! I can only hope to ride long enough to be able to gracefully hang up the helmet as you have. May all the great memories fill each day as you make new ones.

Awwww what a sweety! Hope she has fun!
