need to enter the RIV Program with a bike thats over 15 years old from date of manufacture. But, you will need a title from the owner who should sign it over to you. On the title it may show if there is another party involved ....like a mechanc lean or bank lean. However...in most cases the owner cannot have the title in hand unless it is free from any leans. You also need a bill of sale from the owner. Make sure the amout on the bill is accurate as it is a heavy price you could pay to save literally a couple bucks in tax at the border. For giggles call Yamaha in Toronto and with the VIN handy ask for a recall letter. Send a copy of bill of sale and sgned over title to the American border where you will be bringing the bike over at least three days prior to bringing it home. Now, the trailer.....these must enter the RIV (registry of import vehicles)..you pay a fee of 200?? You need title, if the thing has never been registered it it hard as all get out to bring it home. Trust me...but it can be done. I had a (US) bud buy my first camper for me...register it then sell it to me once he had the title in hand. Thank goodness for this site and the trust shown. Dont forget to send the title informaton and copy of bill of sale to the US border as well. Once it is cleared it must get inspected by Canadian Tire...this is included in the price of the RIV. You will also pay whatever tax at the border. Here in Manitoba it was just GST. PST was paid once I registered the vehicle. I have bought 4 bikes and 3 trailers over the years from across the line. Its not so bad.

May I suggest short elastic material with a hook in it...then just hook it to the bottom ridge of the seat. I believe thats how the store bought bike ones work.

I "lost" my camper last year when i went over a very rough railroad track. Now saying that....first it wasnt coupled correctly (locking pin not in or down) and thats why it went...secondly I was not going very fast....15 mph or so maybe. My chains were apparently too long because when the trailer unhooked it slammed to the ground then came forward then backward then a little side to side. All the while the tongue basically slid on the ground. Marilyn was yelling in the cb that I lost the trailer....I didnt need to let her know that I really knew that. I slowly stopped and all was well. It was a little exciting and I wouldnt want that at speed. I would say this event is very rare indeed....make sure you connect it properly and do it yourself or at least check it thoroughly yourself after someone else connects it for you. I didnt. Poor Marilyn....it took along time for her to forgive herself for doing it wrong.....or maybe she was upset cause I didnt crash and burn@@ hmmmmm lol

Changing Spark Plugs ???
sarges46 replied to vintagewindmc's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
That original tool works well. Dont forget to blow out any foreign stuff before you take the plug out...you really dont want something falling in there. -
I think you are going to have to check all the connections. I would do those visible first of course. Any chance water got into something? I would check for broken pins too. But what do I know.

Lots of times it can be corrected by shuffling the wires under your seat a little. Thats how I cured my buzzing.

I sure am still in contact with him! We be very good buds. I see spook almost everyday. It is being well ridden and loved John. I will see if I can figure this out. Thats the problem...there is no blue or red wires. They are both black with the only differance being the type of wires.

Well, I managed to find a nice harley rear light unit off Ebay. Got the item and now for the wiring. I find that this unit has 1157 bulbs which of course means stop and running lights. The wires are only marked in the manner noted below. One is copper and the other is aluminum? Its silver anyway. So which would be stop and which would be running? Some one out there knows for sure.

Me too! Dont forget the buns!

I have the most luck running the pressure a couple pounds less than what the max is on the sidewall of that particular tire.
