I think I would avoid 5 to Wiliston. I cant tell you if its good or not. But there has been heavy flooding in all areas of the Souris (Mouse) river in North Dakota. We came highway 2 all the way from Washington and its not bad. Crazy traffic around Wiliston because of the oil workers. Have a great trip.

Glad you are ok Brad. Those things fall over quick dont they! I know as I have done it twice and been sent for a ride or tumble as you did. The crash bars also bend very easy as you noticed and that is why the brace is put on by many. All in all...wrecking a pair of jeans is not so bad as what could have been if the kid had hit you. Again...glad you are alright and its rough on Rhonda...Marilyn had to see me fall twice and I got to see her dump once over the years. Take care.

You could try Pinwall cycles. They are a ebay store that sells salvaged parts. Although a front fender might be difficult to find given the nature of most crashes.

I wasnt counting that as we didnt have to ride in it...just climb in the back of the ventureranger and away I went! And mea culpa my good friend. FOLKS...for those who havent heard...Russell was in Bismarck.....he climbed out of bed when I called him. He shuttled us to his hotel room. He vacated his single bed for Gord and Laura. Marilyn and I slept on foam we brought and poor Russ slept on the floor in the closet!!! At least we covered him up with a blanky! Thanks Russell.....you have long been a good friend and we were so screwed if you hadnt have been there for us.

After over 4000 miles we have arrived safe and sound and a little poorer in the cash department! All in all it was a great trip with some interesting side lines to keep my on my toes. Blew the rear tire on the first leg down...60 miles out of Bismarck ND. No fall over for me this year but I dang near had a heart attack after seeing the tow bill! Then the dealer was good enough to get me on my way the next day. Good thing I was there as the poor tech was about to disassemble my rear end to get my tire off! For that and new brake shoes and oil change it came to over 400 bucks.....plus over 400 for the snow I mean tow job. Ah well....no-one got hurt right! After Cody we headed for Idaho to see some friends. Then off to Oregon, Washington and back this way through Idaho, Montana and North Dakota. First trip in years that we didnt get any rain! On a more somber note we did get to see the end result of a biker crashing into some sort of wild critter. Sadly we had to drive by his covered body. Our thoughts to his family. It was great to see everyone again and you all take care.

Trying to Understand speedo/dash display
sarges46 replied to paai1993's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Ok, now that is just odd....my old 05 midnight...I had to hold both buttons together to display the clock. Yes, it was a US bike I stole....er I mean bought from Midnight Spook! My current 07 has the same feature...it too is a US bike. It can be done whilst driving...just press in the center and you should be able to get both at once. There is also a 5 gear light on the left side (green), cruise light that comes on when cruise control is engaged. -
Way to go both of you. Congrats and best wishes.

For anyone that cares here is how we are getting there. Friday Depart Brandon at 1pm-130pm heading towards Bismarck. So far staying at the KOA on Centennial Rd in Bismarck ND. We should be there by 7 ish. Depart Bismarck Sat AM and head to Ranchester Wy. I94 to Custer Hwy 47 south to Hardin Hwy 87 (I90) to Ranchester. Arriving there around 7 ish Maybe earlier but hey whats the rush! Camping in Ranchester. Leaving Ranchester, Sunday on Hwy 14 to Cody This is supposedly a 2.5 hr run. More like 3.5 on the bikes. It looks like a great road. Plus we also have to eat and I haven't counted time for that on either of my calculations.
-
Russell Better check your map! I dont think 94 goes by Minot ole bean. It goes through the Bismarck ND for sure though. And from what I understand you best avoid Minot ND at all cost due to the flooding they experienced recently. Our route is to be determined because of road closures all along the way until we get past the Souris (Rat in Minot) river valley. We are leaving Friday afternoon and probably heading down 83 until we clear the bad areas...lookiing for a place to camp around 8 ish that night.

I pull a rolla-home wide bed. Loaded I would guess I'm running 400 pounds. I would not go more although the thing does ride along behind like a dream. Emergency stopping and too fast in sharp curves are a little unsettling.

A very reputable business here tried for over 5 days to get the stuff recovered. The thing would not let them do anything....before wiping everything off they did inform us of this. This started as a virus and went from there. The computer wouldnt even boot to safe mod or last know safe....it kept going back to the boot menu. When they hooked it up it kept shutting down their equipment.... its done...we are hard drive hunting....no great rush now as we have nothing to back up...lol. I have received several PM's with email addy and I thank you. has any of you sent an actual email to my post addy.... mrreimer@westman.wave.ca I think something funny is going on and we may not be logged on to that because we have received nothing since hooking the computer up today.
-
We have had a catastrophic computer failure and have lost all....I mean all our stuff. Please don't tell me what I know I should have done...sadly we didnt think it would happen to us and we didnt have a proper back up plan in effect. So those of you whom are interested in us having their email...please send us a note so we can collect names and addys for our mail box. Thanks Its a bad day as we lost thousands of pictures, programs to do with cadets..dang we are dummies!

I had the same sort of thing happen a couple years ago when I removed my rear tire to change it. I put the brake mount or whatever that "loose triangle shaped piece is called" wrong. It pushed out fine but once a load was put on it seized up.

Dang Brad! We were looking forward to seeing you guys again! Well...ok maybe it was only Lonna we were looking forward to seeing but...you know...we have to take the package as it comes! We will miss you both for sure and are real sorry you cant make it. There's quit a few good folks that are not able to make it this year...we will miss em all. On the bright side we are going to still be able to meet some other folks we know and meet some new bandits so it kind of balances out a little.
