Is there anyone who is/was an original 1st gen owner?
sarges46 replied to Chaharly's topic in Watering Hole
an original owner. Back in spring of 83 I bought a brand new blond. This bike was one of ten sold in western Canada at the time (said the dealer). It was a Royale but did not have the cb. I thought the thing looked like a space ship and just loved the look. I can say that I have never driven a wing...ever. The dealer wouldn't even allow me to take a test drive of the Royale...so I shrugged my shoulders and said ok. Hopped on and it was like I had been driving it for years. Man I loved that thing! I race through the mountain roads so fast I thought the front end was trying to lift off such as an airplane would when it reaching take off velocity! I have since learned that sensation was fork flex. My riding buddy had a Honda 750k and there was no chance they could keep up with me! I also learned never to buy a first year production anything again! I had lots of trouble with stuff like going through brake pads to the dreaded stator burn up (this while in the desert of Utah).I also learned about Yamaha's "delightful" customer service during that break down. Having had this bike led me to going back to one after a twenty year break. Thats when I joined this site and whined enough about not having a bike that Boo finally broke down and sold me his beautiful 89 blue. I loved that bike (still do) but the knees could not take the riding position any more so I have moved on to my current bike...yeah it's blue! -
You will notice that only the good looking one of this couple is visible....the ugly one is taking the pic!

Our thoughts are with you all Carl. In a strange way it sounds like he was ready as where all of you. It is comforting to know that he is in a better place. Take care. -

Our thoughts and prayers for your family Carl. All the best for a full recovery. -
Tried camping in a tent for a couple years! Decided I am too darn old to wake up on the ground and got sea sick trying to get dressed on a air mattress that has deflated! Got us a m/c camper (with air btw) and we love it. A little tip we discovered last week travelling in our cage south. Check out the rest stops and get a book of coupons for various hotels in that particular state. There are some good deals to be had out of those books.

I installed my lighter down at seat level on the left side. You will see there is a plug there that is easily removed and makes a great spot. Use heavier wire and its own fuse. A little bit to get used to while riding but it does the trick and with the heavier wire I can power up the little air compressors etc.

Well now, this year we are going to be putting on a big run. First heading to the International and from there to the eastern provinces of Canada and then down the eastern sea board of the US. We hope to get a fair amount of miles in and plan to be gone a month. That should be a good test! Pick me pick me!! Good luck to all!

Another wonderful Christmas present to receive. That you for the newest news! Dave, if you read this please continue to work hard and it will come together. We have seen first hand the recovery of a dear friend over the last couple of years from his crash. It is unbelievable but great as well!! -

Marilyn has something very similar on her vstar. Its called a back off brake light. But its just a module that controls her stock lights, no extra lights.

If only we had another quarter! Ah...well we had good eats and visits with the in-laws. The Grey Cup is the only football I watch. Congrats to your Lions!

Rear Caliper Swap for RSV ??
sarges46 replied to Mickey's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Well, I thought I had practised (sp) enough not to lock the rear up. But the day a huge road sweeper with a large drum on the front swung into my lane caused me to lock the rear end so bad I nearly crashed I was convinced to change over to something else! I have Rick Butler's brake mod on and love it! I cannot lock the rear even standing on the brake! Yet I have enough to keep control in emergency braking even towing my camper. It works for me. Thanks again Rick for a great invention. -
Me too.

We attended the service at the Keystone Center here in Brandon. Our daughter Courtney is a Sea Cadet and was picked to be one of the Cenotaph Guards. She did a splendid job with her drill and "rest on arms reversed" was perfect. We mingled with many many vets here. I find it amazing that we saw some with two and one with 3 bars on his Afghanistan medal. That means he served 4 tours...each tour close to a year. Wow. Thanks to all that gave it all and to those who still serve.

I would like a few...I was thinking 5 if the price is right. I have given away all my others.
