Do they have a microphone that works through the earbuds?
-
Yes. I've played with every volume in every conceivable combination. I'm wondering if I have a bad wire connection with the driver connection. It doesn't seem to affect the passenger connection.
-
I'm thinking the blue tooth might be better. Link to the GPS, link to my girlfriend's headset, link to radio, link to my phone, and link to MP3 player. I should have bought that from the beginning.
-
I turned up the IC volume to 15 - 17. That's the only way I could hear her. My girlfriend could hear me at much lower volume but I couldn't hear her. At IC volume at 15+, we hear a lot of static and a constant clicking. And my hearing is fine. Plus it is a constant open line. I thought that you had to press the talk button on the left handle bar to talk.

I have the Yamaha headset for the RSV. I can barely hear my girlfriend unless I turn it way up. When I do that, I hear a lot of static and a constant clicking. Sucks because I paid $400+ for the headsets. Also the ear phones are so large. It took forever to find a helmet that fits and accommodates the head phones without them pressing on our ears. I'm thinking of getting the Scala G9 Bluetooth headset. Thoughts on why the plug in is messed up? Thoughts on the Scala?

I definitely don't want to modify anything. If there isn't one, then there isn't one. I'm still loving the Venture as is.
-
I'm not trying to mimic the HD's. I just want my hands protected. Not sure why the fairing on the Venture didn't flare out another 3 inches on each side. Back to the original question though, Does anyone know of an after market Fairing that fits the Venture that would cover the hands?
-
I'm talking about the actual fairing being wider. I would like it to cover my hands completely. I've noticed that some of the HD's have pretty wide fairings.
-
Is there an after market wider fairing for the 2007 RSV?

I almost dropped mine yesterday. I was leaving my girlfriend's house to go to work. I was turning around in her driveway. The bike lost some power through the u-turn and it started to go left. I put my left foot down right when the engine grabbed and my foot rolled back under the exhaust pipe. Luckily I straightened it out and my foot quickly came loose. The thing is I rarely put my feet down. I practice slow speed balancing like Miles said. I put my feet down at the last second when coming to a stop and quickly pick them up once the bike starts moving forward. My lesson learned was wait until the bike warms up more before trying to ride. I was in a hurry to get to work and when I thought I was giving it gas in a tight turn, the engine almost stalled. Doh! 2 minutes more of warmup.

Gas mileage comparasion Venture vs RSTD
chag67 replied to dave_wells's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
07 Venture - I'm 215lb (6'7"). I was carrying 60 lbs of bowling equipment down to Mobile, AL from Montgomery, AL. I averaged 75 to 80 mph. Averaged 40 mpg. Around town, half highway and half stop and go, I average around 39 mpg. If I run it hard and hard accelleration, which I do sometimes just to show off my loud pipes, I will average around 36 mpg. I am meticulous about calculating my mileage at the gas station since it doesn't take too long to pump ~ 4 gallons of gas. Side note: I get lots of compliments about my bike and the color (royal blue and black) when filling up. I have yet to take my girl on a long trip so I don't know how much that will affect my mileage. We are scheduled to take a trip to Destin July 4th weekend. We'll be loaded down with luggage so I will see worst case scenario. -
Thanks. I did a search and nothing came up. That's why I posted a new thread. Thanks for the link.

I am wanting to be more hands on with my bike. I was told that changing the oil and oil filter is pretty easy. Does anyone have a step by step guide on how to change the oil? I have a 2007 RSV. Pictures would be the best.

Installed the new windshield 3 bag pouch. Looks great. It installed very easy. It has a long piece of leather that is "pinched" between the windshield and the fairing. I like the Star logo.

I just installed a mount that holds my iPhone. I then use a small mp3 wire (not in the pic) to connect to the Aux input in the dash. I can listen to music loaded on the phone while using the GPS app. The music will soften when the GPS app speaks. I also have the phone charger connected to the cigarette lighter input on the left side. You can see the charger wire (white) zip tied to the handle bar.

Yeah. I will be listening to music through my headset on longer rides. Plus on longer highway rides, I like wearing a full helmet. That will muffle the sound quite a bit. I like the louder pipes and have always wanted them on my Boulevard. I just didn't want to spend the money on that bike because I knew it was temporary. I really like the sound when riding in the city. My neighbors get a wake up call in the morning when my bike is warming up.

Just had my new Barron Slash Bag pipes installed on my 2007 RSV. They are very deep and "throaty". Cagers will definitely hear me coming now. My girlfriend wears a full helmet so I don't think ear plugs will be necessary for her. I, on the other hand, like to wear a half helmet. I will definitely need ear plugs for the long highway rides.

Do any of you taller riders have pics of you sitting or riding on your Ventures so I can see how different a custom (non stock) seat would look? Thanks.

That thread is where I got the Day Long seat suggestion. I don't think I am going to alter the floor boards if they involve a custome welded piece of metal. I am likely going to get a set of highway pegs. I had them on my M50 Boulevard so I could stretch out. The only thing I didn't like about higway pegs was my pants legs always kept riding up. I tried all kinds of straps but the straps would come loose and they still rode up. The only thing that worked the best were knee high boot socks but those get very hot in the summertime. As far as straps, I have even thought about punching a small grommet hole through each side of my jeans. Those clips don't stand a chance at 80 mph. I will likely get highway pegs that will allow me to just slide my feet about 6 inches forward while keeping them flat. Heel on the floor boards and the balls of my feet on the highway pegs. Pegs with a custom Day Long seat and riser bars should do the trick. I do get tension in my shoulders from reaching.
-
Yes. I would lower the shifter and brake. If it is possible, of course.
-
Can the Day Long be put on with the stock passenger seat? Also can the floor boards be moved? I'm a 36" inseam as well. I know highway pegs will stretch me out but I want my knees lower when I'm riding with my feet on the boards.
-
I am looking to mod my "new" 07 Venture to accommodate my tall lanky frame. I am 6'7", 215-220 lbs. I was looking into the custom seat by Day Long. That is definitely an option and I am highly considering it. I do know that if I sit further back, I will definitely need bar risers so I am not reaching so far. My main question is this - Can I lower or move the floor boards? I don't like that my knees are higher than my waist. It causes cramping in the hips at times. I have heard that the floor boards of the RSV is a bit higher than most bikes. I don't take turns as low as possible and there is no worry of dragging if I can lower or move them. Thanks for any comments. Any other suggestions from you tall riders will be greatly appreciated.
-
Just purchased it. Thanks.
-
Not yet as I've only had the bike for a little over a week. Any recommendations for risers? Is that something that I could do myself? Is there enough slack in the existing wiring to accommodate the new length?
-
I have asked a few questions about accessories so far so I thought I would introduce myself now. My name is Chris and I have been riding since March 2012. I purchased a 2005 Suzuki M50 Boulevard and loved riding it. I am 6'7" so I knew that if I loved ridiing that I would quickly have to upgrade to a larger bike to accommadate my size. Three months after buying the M50, I started looking around. I finally, after 10 months of researching, sitting on bikes, reading reviews, etc., decided to get a Venture. I loved the two toned blue and black of the 2007 and found a great deal in Birmingham at $10,500 earlier this month. I talked the dealership down from $11,999. I purchased the RSV on Friday April 12th and immediately took it to Mobile (for a bowling tournament) that weekend. The ride on the interstate was such a huge improvement over the M50. The larger engine, the larger frame, the more comfortable seat, etc. It was such a pleasure to ride. I know I am going to put many more miles on the bike taking many trips to the beach with my girlfriend. I am definitely going to enjoy accessorizing this bike. A coworker told me that I sat ON my last bike, whereas I sit IN the Venture. I am already scheduled to have new louder pipes put on and a new horn, plus a phone/ipod/GPS handlebar mount. That stock horn is embarrasing. And if I can get on Carbon One's list, I will be putting new arm rests on it as well. Anyway, I wanted to say hi and look forward to meeting people here. And if anyone can tell me where to get some windshield bags that fit the RSV, I would greatly appreciate it.
