  1. Ha, it was two weeks before I noticed the pull to talk switch.
  2. Here it is $100 on ebay. Today is Friday 4/19/2013 ( for future readers) I emailed the guy and he confirmed the size is the same as sited above [ame=http://www.ebay.com/itm/151029028681?item=151029028681&frommaketrack=true&viewitem=&vxp=mtr]Yamaha Roadliner Stratoliner Front Rim with Tire | eBay[/ame] no bidders at $100. Only 1 day left. $60 shipping unless you live in So Cal and can pick it up. I almost pulled the trigger but decided on the leveling links instead. He said the collar is missing - I looked that up on bikebandit - it is a $20 part. VentureFar... Anyone going to put their money ( and not much money) where their mouth is and jump on this one?
  3. I have an 07 RSV and I am the farthest thing from a "wrench". When you say "Direct Swap". Does that simply mean pull off the old tire and rim as if you are getting new rubber and bolt in its place the roadliner or stratoliner new thinner tire and rim? Is there anything else? spacer or dohickey that is needed? Thanks for the guidance. I really like the look and looking forward to better handling. VentureFar...
  4. I also have an 07 RSV and even with guidance I had a hard time finding the rear connector. Mine is factory zip tied to the frame on the kickstand side of the battery box in the back corner ( would that be driver's left ? or the right side of the bike when facing it or simply put directly under my left butt cheek. It looks like two narrow white cigarettes glued together. - not a regular cigarette lighter adapter. It is switched. That is where I got the switched power for my "passing lamps" AKA 650 foot flame throwers from visionxwholesale.com VentureFar...
  5. Do you need a relay for the above horns replacing stock'ers? If going with a compressor/horn setup do you need a relay? Thanks all, VentureFar...
  6. Great now I can call around instead of driving around. VentureFar...
  7. Do you by any chance have the key blank number for ace hdwre? I went to my local one- they didn't have mine so they ordered two and got the wrong keys in. Thanks VentureFar...
  8. Is this the part number for the 2nd gen RSV 100 led board Item: GEN-100-1157YAM How does the board secure inside the housing? And What do you mean by "wow what a difference"? My goal is to be as visibly "loud" as possible both front and rear. Thanks. VentureFar...
  9. For "extra extra" lighting I am adding hyper lites 16led running/brake lights to the underside of the cargo rack on my RSV. I wanted to have a physically high up stop light. I will be mounting them this weekend and will post photos. I am interested in the 100 led replacement for stock. And will investigate. VentureFar....
  10. Good on ya! Move to Southern California and every day of the year is a riding day. But kinda like flowers in spring, you wouldn't appreciate it as much if you were able to ride 365 ( but it is cool ) VentureFar...
  11. Thanks for taking the gamble, you certainly have a lot of us thinking hard. Looks great.
  12. Long Tall, What tires did you choose and why? What about narrower front- would that add to the levelers steering fix? What is the consensus on this forum about which tires give the greatest distance, Which the best handling. I can't find a thread on it but I know it has to have been discussed many times. VentureFar...
  13. Warmest thoughts and prays to this brave young woman and her family from me and mine. VentureFar...
  14. Thank you for putting up with my hundred questions I really appreciate it
  15. I just purchased and installed the baggershield 10.5 16.5 First, I was impressed with how quickly I receive the box from BaggerShield. Instructions were clear. I was very surprised how quick, easy and simple the install was. I was going to document it with photos and it went too fast. Two hold bolts on the inside. Pull the chrome shield. 6 on the front - one through a hole. Old off new on, reverse. Done. Here is my write up about a 412 mile ride I took today. Absolutely a winner. I figured out what was missing from the stock RSV I have ridden for 1600 miles since I bought it a month ago----- the sensation of motion. Wind! I am 5'10" With the 10.5 inch you are protected from the blast but still get wind. If you want protection just pull over and mount the 6" extension. Bam you are back in the RSV air bubble. The wind goes waaaay around due to the sides 2 inches wider. I was feeling around a lot and my full face was being cleanly hit by the wind directly between the top of the eye opening and the top of the helmet. No buffeting except when riding in a cross wind. Definitely looking over the shorty. Full over it. It was pretty chilly going up to San Luis obispo today and I opted to keep the shorty on because it was more fun. I would say I rode with the extension up for about 20 miles and took it back off. For me that will only be for rain, when wife is on the back or planning an over 400 mile day. Hope this helps VentureFar.... http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v468/ihavethespirit/Yamaha%20Royal%20Star%20Midnight%20Venture/Baggershield1.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v468/ihavethespirit/Yamaha%20Royal%20Star%20Midnight%20Venture/Baggershield2.jpg
  16. I just got home and the baggershield box was waiting for me and I couldn't wait to install it. I planned kn doing a photo write up but the install.went so fas. t I finished the install go quickly Take out the the two screws on the outer edges of the dash. They hold the chrome cover in place. then gently lift the corner and move toward the center knowing the bottom center has A plastic tab to be careful of. then loosen the windshield screwson the front side. Note -one goes thru- right center. The rest are slots. Pull up the old shield and set it in a safe place Grab the new shortly and reverse procedure. it was simple. Took longer to type on my kindlefire than the actual install. I love it. Got the 10..5" x 16.5 With extension it appears to be 1/2" shorter than stock I will report with photos after my 400 miles tomorrow. VentureFar...
  17. I just got my 07 RSV and although the seat is the most comfortable I have ever had the pleasure to rest my butt in, my wife's legs are falling asleep. I found this great forum and info on Butler. I am hand carrying my seats to him for magic rework next week. I am 5 11 185. I' ll report back. VentureFar...
  18. Not to steal this thread but WHICH backrest are you using? I bought a "fixed" one and it pushed me forward so I returned it. I am having Butler rework my seat and pillion next week so I am not going to spring for another backrest until I try out his handywork. But just for planning, which backrest do people use that DOESN't move you forward?
  19. Deepforkriver, I ordered a 10.5 16.5 today and got my Venturerider.org forum 10% discount as well. Your sideview photo cinched it. Thanks for your support. That is what this forum is all about and I appreciate it. VentureFar...
  20. Perfect, Awesome - pix is worth a 1000 words. exactly what I want. Thanks again, VentureFar...
  21. deepforkriver, James. Thank you. Exactly the info I was seeking. It will be my next purchase after Hyperlites for the rear. So far in 3 weeks I have 1. trunk rack for tent for sturgis 2. kury Hwy pegs 3. VisionX 3" Optimus LED lights 4. Ram mount for gps 5. Ram mount for cup holder 6. Kisan headlight modulator. 7. hand carrying my seat and pillion to Rick in TX for comfort Mod. 8. will be hyperlites 9cool looking baggershield 10.5 Thanks for your help.
  22. Thanks and glad you missed getting stung! I definitely like the look of the lower smoke shield but it seems impractical for my type of riding if the air hits at forehead height. Which height do you have as the lower? 8.5” to 13.5" The Stock RSV windshield appears to measure 17". I think, sitting on the bike with a tape measure - and judging how far back I am from the windshield that their 10.5” to 16.5 would send wind top of my helmet and the 16.5 would be like stock for full protection. Like I said I am 5'11" Can you see through the Smoke? using a tape measure it seems to me that 10.5 I would be still looking through the lower. What do you think? Thanks for all your help. Obviously none of us like to buy something that we ultimately regret- that is why I am so glad I found this forum. Thanks VentureFar...
  23. After 70,000 miles on my old bike, my wife finally agreed to Bluetooth Sena SMH10 and she now admits we should have had an intercom a long time ago. The Sena works great with my scorpion modular 900 full face, I just have to be aware to put the mike in a certain place to close the lid, then move it to where I want it for the ride. Only takes a second and worth the cost savings over J&M for my helmet. Sound quality on intercom is excellent on the RSV even in the wind. Wife has an openface with 3/4 bubble shield. I hear the wind noise so if we are not talking I just turn down my volume. Bluetooth music is to only one headset at a time and it connect to my iphone with no issues. They have an adapter that will bluetooth from the RSV connector to both headsets- and allow bluetooth music to both headsets - unit costs about $140 ( more) just for this sending unit. I am pleased with the Sena SMH10. VentureFar...
  24. Thanks for the reply - so you are eating bugs with the lower by itself, right? The reason I press this issue is that I never just ride around town like go to the local watering hole or run errands on my bike. I am strictly a Saturday or sunday all day rider 200-600 miles and of course annual ( ride it there) Sturgis from Los Angeles. If the lower just clipped the top of my helmet that would be perfect for 99% percent of my riding, rain or shine. Please comment. thanks VentureFar...
  25. Hi all, Just got my 07 RSMidnightV and I am interested in the baggershield. My question is where does the 75mph air hit you when only the lower is on? chest, face, top of helmet? I am 5'11" Thanks all, VentureFar...
