check out https://www.visionxwholesale.com/ their lamps are amazing. Distance, brightness way down the road and almost no watt pull. I mounted these 16 led hyperlites on the rear. I made mounting brackets for them just up under the trunk rack - I wanted bright light and UP HIGH - maybe it will catch the attention of the text'r with their head down. http://www.hyperlites.com/calidf.html And I put on the 100 led brakelight...talk about light pollution.... Ricks seat mods really make a difference. My wife doesn't complain about her legs falling asleep and the pillion top is so comfy she actually remarks about it. The work Rick did on the driver's seat is subtle but effective. Took out a little "meat" on either side of the nose of the seat, carved out the back a bit and dug the "butt bone" area a little deeper so i sit more IN the seat that on top of it. Then covered with memory foam for added Cush. I love it and way cheaper that any other seat work company/ person. And I got to spend some time with Rick talking Ventures! Highly recommend his work. Baggershield Adjustable Windshield
VentureFar replied to deepforkriver's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
My story hasn't changed. I out 2000 miles on my 07 RSV my first month looking thru the stock shield and wondering why it didn't feel like motorcycle riding. Then I found this site as tr baggershield ad popped up and I asked a fee questions and bought the 10-16.5 I am 5'10 1/2 and I look totally over the 10 inch. I wear a scorpion Exo 900 modular helmet with the shield open all the time. The air coming over the baggershield hits my helmet 5 inches above my eye center line. No head bobble at all. My wife thought the extra airflow make it feel "more Like she was on a motorcycle" I only rode with the extra 6.5 for about 20 minutes to test it on a 400 mile day ride and stopped and took it off- liked the air better with the lower shield and it was about 55 degrees next to the ocean at 75 mph. I like it but I have only owned my RSV for 2 months and 2500 miles. VentureFar... -
Congrats. I love my 2007 RSV and agree with the heavy slow speed handling. To me, slow speed requires "muscle" but I can turn tighter on the RSV right away than I could after 70,000 miles on my Honda spirit 1100. I will be getting the leveling links soon. And next front tire will be Me 880 130/90h-16 Instead of the 150/80 16 stock Both should make the front end "lighter" The radio is simpler than it first appears. Enjoy! VentureFar...

Just remember to point your passenger mike with the little flag facing out. If your passenger turns the mic accidentally the other way you get an earful of wind noise continuously. Should be obvious how I know this. VentureFar...

Adding Rear Lighting ?
VentureFar replied to FuzzyRSTD's topic in Royal Star and Royal Star Tour Deluxe Tech Talk
Nice write up. I think if I put another super bright lite on my rear people will run into me just to stop the light pollution. -
I have a laughable update on our sena smh10s Bought the wife a new is33 Hjc helmet and in swapping the mike piece I discovered she had twisted the microphone to face INTO the wind. No wonder hear I hear "wind noise"! I can't wait to get out with her again with the mike facing the proper direction. VentureFar...

Welcome, there is a wealth of knowledge on this forum. This site and its sponsors have helped empty my bank account quite rapidly People are great, info is spot on. Welcome! VentureFar...

So there are the DiamondR leveling Links that RAISE the rear end to help with low speed handling and there is the Baron's lower kit that LOWERS the rear end to help with handling. Hmmmmm I don't get it.... The experts out there please explain this to me ( and I am sure others) Thanks VentureFar...

Adding Rear Lighting ?
VentureFar replied to FuzzyRSTD's topic in Royal Star and Royal Star Tour Deluxe Tech Talk
Got the 100 LED Board in the mail today. Installed it in about 2 minutes and it is definitely brighter than the bulb. I would guess 30-40 %. Not as bright as the hyperlites in running mode but when I hit the brake it is like HELLO ! RED IN YOUR FACE !!! I recommend the 100 LED board for more rear light and for a whole lot more rear light get the 16 led Hyperlites. VentureFar... -
Adding Rear Lighting ?
VentureFar replied to FuzzyRSTD's topic in Royal Star and Royal Star Tour Deluxe Tech Talk
2007 RSV - Added the 16 LED Hyper-lites up high like I said. I bent some corner braces and spray painted them gloss black. Bent them a few times and mounted them under the rear cargo rack posts. You can see them clearly mounted here http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v468/ihavethespirit/4ee784f2-445f-4855-8729-74bc122e99d0.jpg This is just running lite position. Brake lite is so much brighter. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v468/ihavethespirit/hyperlitesrunninglightsmall1.jpg What I like is that I have light UP HIGH at eye level for a driver- maybe it will catch their attention away from texting far enough back to stop! OH - almost forgot the shameless plug for M61A1MECH's harness for quick wiring the tail lights - he makes it so easy it is dumb to work the wires yourself ! -
Sorry about jumping in late on this thread but still early for the rally. I have been 6x. Am 61 yrs old. Ridden from Los Angeles and From Denver. Brought the wife - well picked the wife up in Rapid City at the airport so she didn't need to ride the 400 from Denver- That will be the only time she goes As you have read, crowds, heat, traffic. So what? I have gone alone and spent the entire week alone and have met friends and traveled around. I enjoy it. I don't drink- at all. Don't need to drink or smoke to have a great time. The sites are amazing, Devils Tower, don't just ride up to it and take a photo, take a couple of hours and walk around it. Mt. Rushmore is so very interesting to spend a couple of hours learning about. Crazy Horse is an amazing monument to the Chief and his people. Bear Country was a good afternoon and seeing about 50 cubs waking up from a nap is a sight I will never forget. There are many caves - Jewel Cave is the best, IMHO and if you only have time for 1 cave do Jewel. But there are many in the area and all are interesting and on a hot day, they are 60 degrees year round. Main street is for people and bike watching and of course buying Tshirts and Hats etc and the " I rode mine" patch that should be reality. Let the wife drive the RV and you ride the bike. There are quiet campgrounds like Creekside which is opposite Buffalo Chip. Only $20 per night- concrete bathrooms and showers.- People go camp at Creekside to sleep at night. Glencoe, Buffalo Chip etc are for partying at night. There is so much more there, just hitting the tip of the iceberg. I enjoy showing friends who are coming for the first time the sights.....hasn't gotten old yet. You can miss all the crowds for gas, breakfast lunch and dinner by planning - leave early etc etc. You won't know till you go. Sure the area is spectacular in May June July and September, but honestly I like the activity level of Sturgis week. Anyone riding up from Los Angeles? pm me. VentureFar...

Looks nice. Not sure I am the "bling" type but would make it easier to find your bike in the parking lot. VentureFar... -
Just noticed you are in Canada. I called the NA RCMP and they were gray about it but Said to call DMV. Went to kisan web site and this is listed - serious legal talk except Kisan will guarantee they meet this. Call them and by a kisan. The s794 comes from http://www.tc.gc.ca/eng/roadsafety/safevehicles-mvstm_tsd-tsd-1080rev4_e-688.htm#_Toc%20S7.9 CANADA - Canada Transport: FMVSS 108 (Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards) (49 CFR Part 571.108 S7.9.4) allows motorcycle headlight modulation systems in all Provinces provided they comply with the standards set forth in Section S7.9.4. And this is a 7.9.4. - yes I know - get a life. But I really believe in the modulator. S7.9.4.1 A headlamp on a motorcycle may be wired to modulate either the upper beam or the lower beam from its maximum intensity to a lesser intensity, provided that: (a) The rate of modulation shall be 240 ± 40 cycles per minute. (b) The headlamp shall be operated at maximum power for 50 to 70 percent of each cycle. © The lowest intensity at any test point shall be not less than 17 percent of the maximum intensity measured at the same point. (d) The modulator switch shall be wired in the power lead of the beam filament being modulated and not in the ground side of the circuit. (e) Means shall be provided so that both the lower beam and upper beam remain operable in the event of a modulator failure. (f) The system shall include a sensor mounted with the axis of its sensing element perpendicular to a horizontal plane. Headlamp modulation shall cease whenever the level of light emitted by a tungsten filament light operating at 3000 degrees Kelvin is either less than 270 lux (25 foot-candles) of direct light for upward pointing sensors or less than 60 lux (5.6 foot-candles) of reflected light for downward pointing sensors. The light is measured by a silicon cell type light meter that is located at the sensor and pointing in the same direction as the sensor. A Kodak Gray Card (Kodak R-27) is placed at ground level to simulate the road surface in testing downward pointing sensors. (g) When tested in accordance with the test profile shown in Figure 9, the voltage drop across the modulator when the lamp is on at all test conditions for 12 volt systems and 6 volt systems shall not be greater than 0.45 volt. The modulator shall meet all the provisions of this TSD the standard after completion of the test profile shown in Figure 9. (h) Means shall be provided so that both the lower and upper beam function at design voltage when the headlamp control switch is in either the lower or upper beam position when the modulator is off.

Just have to share. 07 RSV and just installed a baggershield. - 10.5 inch shorty with 6" extension that piggy backs the shorty when not in use- anyway I was worried my wife wouldn't like the extra wind on the freeway. Took it out for a short breakfast ride this morning and she said " I like the shorty- feels more like riding a motorcycle than the stock shield". Go figure! VentureFar... Ps it is not necessarily height this sends the wind over the passenger / or around, it is the lip at the top. Have you seen Corbin's weird shield ? http://www.corbin.com/fairings_m.shtml It isn't tall at all and yet nothing touches you.

I rode 70,000 miles in all western states in the last 10 years with my headlight modulating. NOT "flashing" and never an issue. If you are concerned about getting stopped be proactive. Go to a hi way patrol office and have a watch commander give you his card to call him if you get stopped so he can tell the nice officer he is dead wrong. But do turn it off - switch to low beam if you are in the middle of a group ride. You can really annoy your friends or not, and really annoy your friends VentureFar...

This is a post and thread I did on venturers.org with photos. You can buy the plug in one from kisan directly and just reach in to the fairing. Don't have to pull it.! Photos and all Pm me if you want any more help. http://www.venturers.org/Forum/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=35164 VentureFar...
