Anyone know the yamaha part number for the crush washer? looking on bikebandit it appears to be the same washer as all the rest on the bottom of the case. Help please. VentureFar...

Thanks Joe! Exactly what I needed. I was all set to go this route when I noticed the compact air compressor at cyclegear. Anyone, would you feel comfortable plugging in the cyclegear pump into your battery tender pigtail? http://www.cyclegear.com/CycleGear/Tires/Tire-Accessories/Tubes/brand/DOUBLE-TOUGH/Compact-Portable-Mini-Air-Compressor/p/43135_00000 Thanks VentureFar...

Anyone have "little known secrets" about 2nd Gen
VentureFar replied to VentureFar's topic in Watering Hole
Where are people putting the high amp power outlet on the left side of the bike? I just couldn't believe folks were cutting holes in their side covers for a power outlet. So I would go look at mine over and over and not see a factory cutout. So just now I started to take off the side cover to see if it had a detent on the inside and that is when I noticed the hole in the "filler" BEHIND the left side cover. The filler plastic sheet runs down the back of the battery box and fills the gap between the rear fender and frame. There, low and behold is a pre cut hole with filler cap ! Now that is what I am talking about ! The little secrets of the RSV. VentureFar... -

Anyone else coming to Sturgis? How about we all meet for breakfast at the "pancake breakfast" that is across the street from Ft Meade on 34/79 / lazelle just East of Sturgis? North side of the road. How about Wednesday at 7:30am? Just a suggestion- please chime in. Tx2sturgis - I have been 6x so I know my way around a bit. Happy to be a contact for your buddies. I will be hanging with a buddy I dragged last year that couldn't wait to come back this year to explore in more depth..

Brake light
VentureFar replied to Goose68's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
I am not a "wrench" but pretty good guess would be either the front brake light switch is jammed or the rear brake light switch is jammed. Try disconnecting the easier one to trace and disconnect it. right at the switch if possible. should be obvious at that point. Good luck VentureFar... -
I found the connection: It was your "hidden" agenda that has now been exposed So obvious, staring us in the face all the time..... I was having a thought today, (yes, I know that it's a dangerous thing!) about how many Canadians are in the US working in the entertainment industry. I think its time to let you Americans know that we Canucks are on a stealth program to take over the States. I had no idea that there was this many Canadians working in the US in high profile jobs, and I am sure there is more that I havnt thought about in the 10 minutes it took to do up this list. Not even putting my usual signature on this post -too silly to sign.

Well I guess that answered my question: "No, yes, maybe " I love you guys! VentureFar...

Just changed my oil for the first time on my new to me 2007 RSV. . Easiest oil change I have ever done. Plug is obvious and easy to reach. The filter turned off by hand. The big mouth opening oil fill is great. I didn't spill a drop. One question. How often should the crush washer be replaced on the drain bolt? Thanks all VentureFar...

Nice to meet you "neighbor", I am in the San Fernando valley. In your neck of the woods there is a group on 'meetup' called Know Where Riders that meets with about 20 to 60 bikes for Saturday or Sunday rides and the co leaders both have RSV. We are out here, scarce as hens teeth but are out here. VentureFar...

Rear Facing LED Lights - Opinions?
VentureFar replied to ablumny's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
I agree with Cougar- I mounted the 16 led hyper lites on top of my trunk, under the luggage rack. Highest possible point so texters will hopefully see them and not kill me. They are very bright and California flash 4 times then solid. VentureFar... -
This reminds me of the old joke about everyone in the French foreign legion getting a change of underwear- "you change with you and you change with him..".. VentureFar...

Please Someone with a 2nd gen RSV and vmax rear end do a mileage test next time you take a freeway 70mph ride. Fill up before you get on the road and fill up again 2 hours later. That should be a good start. This is the season to get out in the hwy so someone be a Venturerider forum hero and report a specific 70mph test for us. I am appreciative and grateful to you all on this terrific forum. VentureFar...

Yep I am convinced also. Will be the next major upgrade. Thanks all. VentureFar...

I got my 2007 with 5000 miles on it and I am 61, I realized this will be the last bike I will own ( like said above) You will get 35-40 mpg depending on conditions but you can get 2-4 more mpg if you get a baggershield.com as advertised top right corner. They give a discount to Venturerrider.org members. Pushing so much less air I have seen 4 more mpg at 70 mph ( actual - not speedometer) I spent 3 years researching a replacement for my Honda Shadow Spirit 1100 and for all the reasons you read about on this forum, it is the right choice for a touring bike. To make it a commuting bike suggest you read about "leveling Links" and "narrower front tire" - both make a huge difference in slow speed handling. Welcome to the Wonderful World of Venture Riding ! Cool, Thanks for sharing it. I am not sure it would be any more distracting than looking away from center at our current GPS attached to the handlebars. VentureFar...

AMEN! fyi my front is the new ME888 and the tire pressure for that is 38. So I will be 38 in front and 50 in rear. I was solo riding home about 10 miles on the freeway and it was smooth as silk. Sure wish I could afford new tires everytime they reached 1/2. What a pleasure. VentureFar...

Anyone have "little known secrets" about 2nd Gen
VentureFar replied to VentureFar's topic in Watering Hole
Hope I am understanding your question - It is counting up the miles you have ridden since the reserve light came on. In my case ( before I punch holes in the filler neck ) at reserve light I have burned 4.3 gallons. So I know I have 1.2 remaining and depending on speed and wind can run a little over 40 miles before I start pushing. Without that count up, I would reset the trip odometer to zero immediately but my RSV saves me that extra step. Not everyone watches their mileage and fuel like I do. I only ride long rides ( away from civilization) so I am always stretching my gas stops. -
Sure feels great. Have 880 on back and the narrower 888 up front. Tire store said every RSV that comes in buys the narrower 130/90/16 Felt smooth. Nothing like new rubber !

The problem is not the bike, it is this forum! Too many good people have too many good ideas ! VentureFar... -
I am at the tire shop that I always use and refer: MC tire in LA area and they are mounting my new rubber for Sturgis. The rear Metz 880 150/90b 15 and they put 50psi in it. Says right in the side wall max 50. Very experienced shop said if you run 38 like smaller Metz tires (below 148) you will burn right through the tread Is this what you do? VentureFar...
