  1. Hi all, I was hoping to get my feet into the new for 2020 Klim Adventure boots and Santa came through. They not only look awesome but are perfectly designed for their intended purpose. All day adventure riding - which means, riding, reasonable off road protection and importantly walking around or hiking comfort. It does all those and more. Of course you can always ask our good friend @cowpuc what he wears but remember that he rides two up on a loaded 1st Gen in the dirt where I would need a Trials bike to contend with the terrain....so where I need a suit of armor, he is protected the by the love of his life sitting right behind him 🙂 Comments always welcome https://ultimatemotorcycling.com/2020/11/29/klim-adventure-gtx-boots-review-target-audience-perfection/ Venturefar...
  2. Thanks. Will check the power to the pump. VentureFar...
  3. I had to replace my fuel pump points at only 18,000 miles. They were literally burned down to nubs. That was about 2015. Now have 46,000 miles and they have stopped working. They still look "square" and not burned out but they are not doing the clickety clack at all. Is it always, 100% of the time, the points and never the rest of the mechanism that is the issue with these stock fuel pumps? Thanks for the quick reply. Need to get parts ordered asap. VentureFar...
  4. The only reason I haven't switched to the plug and play LED that I bought several years ago is that I will have to buy and "LED" kisan and didn't want to put out the $100 when my current one ain't broke. Darn Kisan's never seem to break. I have had mine since 2013. still works. VentureFar...
  5. Hi all, I just finished my review of the new for 2020 Garmin Montana 700i GPS. It is a hulking piece of hardware that has so much functionality that is took me a long time to figure it out, but it was worth the work. Our good friend @cowpuc navigates celestially and can communicate by smoke signals if he is out of cell range, but for the rest of us having a satellite connection when needed is comforting if not down right lifesaving. Comments always welcome If you ride, hike, fish, boat, fly, climb, take cruises, hunt with dogs or want to connect with someone when you have NO CELL SERVICE then this Garmin Montana 700i has something for you. Hope you enjoy the read. https://ultimatemotorcycling.com/2020/11/24/garmin-montana-700i-review-motorcycle-gps-adventure-partner/ VentureFar...
  6. Sure glad I came across these tire pressure sensors. Anyone have any other jewels on their bike they want to share that add as much value as these TPS do? I will be happy to get it and do a review. VentureFar...
  7. Had the 130 on my 2007 RSV for 6 years and would never go back. The difference in low speed handling and lightness of the steering in twisties is nothing short of amazing. In a high cross wind the 150 makes the bike feel like it is solid and only requires on hand on the bars. Same wind with 130 front and it takes two hands. Riding with 150 and hands off I was able to ride for miles without touching the bars, with 130 I need to keep one hand on the bars ( which I should be anyway! ) One time when my wife was on the back I rested one elbow on her knee like usual on long freeway stretches. This time after a few minutes ( when I had the 150) I rested my other elbow on her other knee - no hands. Took her about 10 seconds to communicate her displeasure, but the bike was tracking like a Tesla on autopilot. When riding solo, I would be hands off for long periods. Not so at all with the 130. With the 150 front at the end of 30 miles of twisties your arms will be pumped. with the 130- at the end of 30 miles of twisties you will be wanting more twisties. IMHO VentureFar...
  8. Hello again fellow forum friends. Klim- the world known gear manufacturer graced by doorstep with their latest Traverse line jacket and pants. They are definitely designed for on and off road adventure touring, which is what our brother @cowpuc does with his Gen 1, except he and his wife prefer jeans and t-shirts to Kevlar and Gortex. When I grow up and can ride half as safe as Cowpuc, I might consider reducing the amount of protective gear I wear. But until then, I will wear all gear all the time. Here is my review- hope you like it. Comments are always welcome https://ultimatemotorcycling.com/2020/11/08/klim-traverse-jacket-and-pants-review-all-season-lightweight-protection/ VentureFar...
  9. Thanks my Brother. I didn't read any of the new instructions. In fact I am still trying to figure out how to reduce the screen and type size. Right now I don't need my reading glasses to see anything on the forum.... @cowpuc but did get this one figured out thanks to your good edgumaktin' VentureFar...
  10. Excellent! VentureFar...
  11. Hi all, I needed to new bluetooth unit for my ride with the Klim off road helmet I posted a review of a while ago. I felt the Sena unit with a stated 1 mile range would be good one since I have had a lot of success with Sena products. 1 mile by the way is wishful but does give good range for a group ride. If someone is hanging back a mile they deserve to not hear about my bladder issues....... I haven't ridden with my brother @cowpuc since 2015 but I'll bet his hearing is still good enough to hear me complimenting him on how pretty Tweeks carves the twisties....so he don't need no stinkin, lop eared, bluetooth contraption anyway. But for the rest of us: Here is my review - comments are always welcome https://ultimatemotorcycling.com/2020/11/02/sena-10s-motorcycle-bluetooth-communication-system-review/ VentureFar...
  12. Everyone that is still seeing this thread, I am curious about your experience with the FOBO tire pressure monitoring. Did I overstate " take the emergency $100" out of your wallet? I love mine. Last ride I check my front was 35.9 and rear was 35.9. I once again did not have to waste time and dirty my clothes check the pressures. I ride solo at 36 and 2 up at 38. This was a solo ride. I think I have saved laying down about 6 times so far and at my age, that is a blessing. What about you? Any stories? Thanks VentureFar...
  13. MonsterBiker I am in touch with engineering at fobo. They would like to escalate the battery issue to their quality team to find out how you got dead batteries and make sure it doesn’t happen to anyone else. can you PM me the serial number(s) on the box? VentureFar...
  14. Yup that is what it is for. there is a link in the article for a discount that is open ended. so remember that if you decided to rent. VentureFar.
  15. Hi all. I needed a adventure bike to test a bunch of adventure gear and I rented a bike from Twisted Road. This was new to me and hopefully you will see the value too. our brother @cowpuc is a wrench’s wrench so he is never down and can fabricate a motorcycle out of a pile of spare parts, but for the rest of us this is a service we might want to remember. hope you enjoy. comments always welcome. https://ultimatemotorcycling.com/2020/10/09/twisted-road-review-peer-to-peer-motorcycle-rental/ VentureFar...
  16. Yup. That’s the one I got for my wife. I reviewed it. Good helmet but I prefer modular personally. VentureFar...
  17. excellent points. I saw 9# gain on the rear too. I had to raise the maximum pressure warning. Having communicated directly with engineers at FOBO I am 100 % confident in the pressure readings. Pope3567 watch for my pm. VentureFar...
  18. Thanks for the kind words. Do you mean the modular piece goes over the top of the helmet to the back so that you are riding with a 3/4? I don't' ever ride with my face exposed to asphalt except when taking a drink of water or a bite of a sandwich. These are my three modular reviews. Remember each review is stand alone and not a comparison. But between us girls I prefer the HJC Rpha 90 for comfort, air flow and how quite it is. just don't buy a matte finish, they are hard to keep clean. fyi all are intermediate oval and you should definitely try them on before buying. I only use modular when riding my Venture. https://ultimatemotorcycling.com/2020/08/04/sena-outrush-helmet-review-smart-modular-motorcycle-helmet/ https://ultimatemotorcycling.com/2019/04/05/hjc-rpha-90-test-long-distance-modular-motorcycle-helmet/ https://ultimatemotorcycling.com/2020/03/12/scorpionexo-gt3000-helmet-review-modular-motorcycle-touring/ If you click on my name at the bottom of any of my reviews it brings up a page with all my reviews. Thanks for reading :-) VentureFar...
  19. Hello all, I just did a ride review on a Klim F3 off-road helmet that is Dot approved for on-road and it was fine at freeway speeds. I know that our friend @cowpuc doesn't need no stinkin helmet and has kept himself and his lovely wife Tip safe for a million miles. But for the rest of us, wear a stinkin helmet! Here is my review of this quality helmet. You will notice in the photo I am on a BMW 1200 GS and wearing a whole bunch more Klim Gear. The bike is a Twisted Road rental ( review to follow) and the Klim Jacket and pants will get their own review shortly. Thanks for reading - but only if you are interested. Don't just read it cause you pity me having to slave over my keyboard in exchange for all this cool gear :-) https://ultimatemotorcycling.com/2020/10/06/klim-f3-helmet-review-motorcycle-riding-on-and-off-road/ VentureFar...
  20. Sage advise: working thru the bucketlist is almost as much fun as spending all those years developing the list itself !! my new motto! thanks VentureFar...
  21. You are looking great my Brother. What is up with the black Corvette? Hi to Tip and stay out of trouble! VentureFar...
  22. I run the Sylvia is ultra bright in my 07 Rsv. Worthless upgrade in my opinion. Just a whiter light than the yellowish stock bulb. I when I want to see I turn in my flamethrower 25 watt led spots mounted off my mirror stalks. Can play tennis by them in a moonless night. Can see to stop at 70mph. Turn them off for an oncoming car and the sylvanias do nothing VentureFar... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  23. I have a lot of rain gear and the name for what you are looking for is Overpants. Since you are a cyclegear customer see this link. https://www.cyclegear.com/gear/spidi-superstorm-h2out-pants Unless you are 14 years old, when standing beside your bike and the rain is coming down, you need raingear pants that zip up to the waist to get in without falling over. IMPORTANT - bring an umbrella. That way you can take your time, Help your bride into her pants first like an old school gentlemen and then get into your own. Also, I have found several times in route and around Sturgis that a downpour is localized and fast moving. Instead of getting all geared up and then 5 minutes later stopping to take it all off, just pull over and hug your honey under the umbrella for a few minutes and then ride on. Obviously get a GOOD compact umbrella that won't invert in the wind. VentureFar...
  24. Excellent. I love mine and everyone else that has them does too! VentureFar...
  25. I put the Tom tom back in the box and on the shelf. The zumo xt is bigger, brighter, more functional and easier to use. I was told by the magazine early on that reviews are of the product only unless the review is a comparison review. Like all touring bikes or all adventure bikes under 600 Cc. Etc. VentureFar...
