  1. I am still looking for the photo of the Goldwing with the Train horns coming out the windshield but this is close: http://www.hornblasters.com/installs/set/?waltermarsh They make a $229 unit with 5 second blast that will get through the sound insulation of any cage. But where to mount the compressor? VentureFar...
  2. I am not a nay sayer. I had the stebel on my last bike and both times I used it the lexus and jag just kept coming into my lane without even turning their head left - same side. that is when I was convinced semi horns are the way to go. Everything "helps" but don't count on anything for them to see or hear you since you are-after all- invisible. VentureFar...
  3. If you are now comfortable then you saved time and money. Personally it took links and tire. Good on ya VentureFar...
  4. Excellent write up. Thanks VentureFar...
  5. I will watch this thread closely. VentureFar...

  7. Glad to hear the success. VentureFar...
  8. I just downloaded life360 and got my young adult daughters on it as well. Both, independently and almost immediately wrote my saying "this app would have gotten us in a lot of trouble in high school. Guess I can laugh about that now. I like it. Riding iron butts solo I don't have to waste time "checking in". Two thumb up. VentureFar...
  9. Funny Greekdog. Actually I wanted to hear what they sounded like and did a jumper cables hook up to my car battery about 9pm one night. Neighbors came out of their houses to see what made that sound. I think I finally found a noise maker that will pierce the silence ( brain dead) of a Lexus and Escalade. VentureFar.
  10. I don't see an iphone app and all the forum postings say not yet. Do you see it for iphone somewhere? Thanks VentureFar...
  11. I am searching for a bike for a friend and ran across this ad for a BRAND NEW 2009 RSTD http://www.cycletrader.com/listing/2009-Yamaha-Royal-Star-Tour-Deluxe-106579124 Ok you RSTD faithful wanting to put a spare RSTD in your garage for when your current one gets old - how about a brand new one? http://www.desertvalleypowersports.com/ There you go. 12. Just measured the stock ones at 8 inches tip to tip. If yours are longer you already have them. VentureFar...
  13. Funny thing about motorcycle "reviews". 1st, if you are reviewing a bike you wanted to purchase you are naturally biased 2nd if you are reviewing a bike someone asked you to ride and review you will be naturally critical.....unless it is an 2nd Gen RSV setup like mine:rotf: Seriously, I decided on an RSV and then read every review I could get my hands on and they all were like #2 - critical, but I wasn't dissuaded. I bought mine and literally fell in love. I love the look, I love the ride, I love how much it cost, I love to ride it, I love to polish it. I love to embellish it ( now mounting 1970 air horns on it). I have never ridden an RSTD but I hear great things about them, IF you seeking that style of bike ( cruiser style) - I was seeking Touring and have done two Iron Butts with ease on my RSV. I love this type of thread. Thanks for listening to my love affair with my RSV. VentureFar...
  14. I changed my mounting movements when I saw a motorcycle officer mount by grabbing his right ankle as he swung it up. That allows you to pull your boot close to your butt missing the backrest all together. Other way is step through with the right foot and balance on the left. Other way is stand on the footboard getting the extra height. Never seen another way to clamber onboard, but if you figure one out please send the video. VentureFar...
  15. I was upset about how heavy the steering was, I was arm tired and "used" to love twisties. Rick Butler told me about the leveling links he designed ( and is now selling for 1/2 price of diamond) and what the improvement in steering was. I put on the leveling links and was pleasantly surprised that I wasn't arm weary after 10 miles on tight twisties. I decided to go with the narrower front tire and my "tires only" shop told me that every Venture he services opts for the narrower front tire. IT DOES NOT HOLD AS WELL in heavy cross winds but doesn't blow all over the road either. Just need to put 2 hands on the bars instead of 1 and cruise control in heavy ( truck warning) cross winds. The leveling links are easy to install and give you additional ground clearance on the deep leans. That keeps the finger nails out of my ribs- no scraping. If you are only going to do 1, do the leveling links. If that isn't enough then go with narrower front tire and if that isn't light enough ( meaning power steering feel) then go with the stratoliner front wheel. My 2 cents - Oh - and where I was uncomfortable with tight u turns and parking lot tight turns before the mods, after the mods I amaze myself how tight I can U turn this RSV now.
  16. Woops. Thanks for the correction. VentureFar...

  20. If you don't weigh 700 pounds and always ride into a 30mph headwind and uphill only, I got nothing. VentureFar...
  21. Nice looking Stable Beau-Kat.

  25. Has anyone noticed how photogenic the RSV is? I have not seen one bad photo of an RSV yet. Whether it is a itsy bitsy avatar or a full size high res, these are simply beautiful bikes. Anyone got a differing opinion? VentureFar...
