  1. Not me! Not ever! ... I always park my baby indoors VentureFar...
  2. Seems like the consensus is "tight petcock on RSV". Interesting. Thanks all. VentureFar...
  3. Wow, I don't have any suggestions other than continue living that clean life that got you this far. Good catch on your preride inspection! VentureFar...
  4. Since the repair kit is cheap I will get one and put it in the saddle bag----just in case. Thanks for the input. VentureFar...
  5. It is the act of seeing the light, switching to reserve, watching the count up meter, opening my gas cap lid ( exposing the key hole) as a reminder I am in different mode now. Maybe I make to much of this but if the light ever quit I could run out of gas if the sun is at my back. VentureFar...
  6. Obviously - "tight" is subjective" but mine seems to be getting "tighter". VentureFar...
  7. It feels to me like my petcock turns too tight when switching from open to reserve ( and off). I almost always go to reserve on a ride so this is not a one time 'feeling'. I run seafoam all the time since I got the bike ( 1 year). What is the remedy for "real tight turning petcock"? If you reply - rebuild then please be specific about how. Thanks all VentureFar...
  8. Awesome. Good work! VentureFar...

  10. Glad the bike is running so well now that we will be able to meet up Tuesday evening. I will phone you Tuesday when I get into town. I will have a car so you don't have to come all the way in. We can meet in the middle. VentureFar...
  11. I use Ariat WorkHog boots. Composite toe and waterproof with good grip sole. Liked them so much I bought a pair of dress ariat boots and everyday walk around ariat roper boots. VentureFar
  12. Thanks V7goose. VentureFar...
  13. V7goose can I mount an air horn compressor on theese Two bolts that hold the fake fins? The bigger ones. Thanks http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v468/ihavethespirit/Yamaha%20Royal%20Star%20Midnight%20Venture/A9E69EEE-E8A6-4BB3-A43E-4E1C9259DB3A_zpsnjous3q7.jpg VentureFar...
  14. I use the Scorpion EXO900 modular since the first day they shipped them. I have several non RSV ( cough cough) friends that wear and love them also. I have worn mine as much as 19 hours in a day and no issues but every head shape is different. They are good about warranty issues- I had a very early release mechanism that broke and they replaced it on the spot at the HQ in SoCal. I really like the no fog shield and no fog drop down sun visor feature. Same thing about the glasses- plenty of space for them- no pressure spots. The Sena SMH10 grabs the shell tight and I just wrap the boom mike inside as I close the face. Never an issue. VentureFar...
  15. Eck - sorry! Air Horns. fyi- for another thread - I already replaced my points kit on my fuel pump at 15k miles and it worked out great...as long as my solder joint doesn't let go. VentureFar...
  16. I just noticed that the hole pattern for the fake cylinder fins on the right side are the same bolt pattern as the mounting bracket for the compressor. Does anyone know if it would be ok to mount the compressor there? I probably should clean it up and spray it black though. Thoughts? VentureFar...
  17. Don't think so as there is an old relay in the box. I am using Carbon One relay now fyi. VentureFar..
  18. Just looking again at the compressor anyone know what the top two electrical connection tabs are for? When I tried it I just connected the bottom wires to the battery. In the very old box are two six inch wires with the female slide on connectors that would fit those tabs. Thoughts ?? http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v468/ihavethespirit/Yamaha%20Royal%20Star%20Midnight%20Venture/ED721A33-E175-4A7A-9F81-9DA5F7265A69_zpsfbmvhvd1.jpg VentureFar...
  19. I really don't want to mount it in the right bag. takes up a lot of room. have to cut holes in the bag etc etc. VentureFar...
  20. I was able to find a number on the compressor - 356 (space) 1607 But where does it take the air in? don't want to cover that hole. Have you seen the ad's for "flexseal" ? http://flexsealdirect.com VentureFar...
  21. I am going to install this hefty pump on my RSV. It is a sears but it cans read any info on the shiny label. Does anyone know if it is waterproof/resistant or not? I am planning to mount it on the frame right behind the passenger foot pad. -thanks carbon one for the wiring kit. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v468/ihavethespirit/Yamaha%20Royal%20Star%20Midnight%20Venture/DEA976AA-E8C9-4A42-B99A-5C1DD62E0954_zpsrky4xapg.jpg
  22. Totally agree - communicate danger or don't honk it.--- and yes, someone texting at a light and not noticing the light changed is "danger" because someone else coming up behind you texting will notice the light is green and assume everyone is moving....and you become a hood ornament.... 23. Here is what he does on the 2nd gen. _ remember he is doing this with xxx years of experience but this is the list as I recall it. thins the thighs, digs out the tailbone area. covers with memory foam. The thinner thighs keep the seat from pushing outward on your legs and allows you to put your feet flatter on the ground because your thighs are closer together. The shaping of the tailbone area sets you deeper in the seat. In fact, ( I am a back rest convert) with the seat modified, I set so deep in it that the rise of the back of the seat actually acts like a back rest and I don't need to buy a back rest - it is, in essence, now built in. Did two iron butts and honestly and embarrassingly I didn't need an "Iron" butt to do them. Thanks to Rick. Hope this helps. He is a seat genius. If you were to attempt this stuff yourself, you might get it right after 5 years of trying. VentureFar...
  24. I was just looking at a LEO website talking about horns and several cops from several states posted that they cite for obnoxious horns. This is the california law 27000. (a) A motor vehicle, when operated upon a highway, shall be equipped with a horn in good working order and capable of emitting sound audible under normal conditions from a distance of not less than 200 feet, but no horn shall emit an unreasonably loud or harsh sound. Obviously the idiots going around blasting to scare PEOPLE are going to get cited but I doubt if you hit your loud horn on the freeway to save your butt that it will be a problem. But I will gladly pay the fine if my horn kept me from getting hurt. Remember friends, use your loud horns "responsibly" VentureFar...
