Well it sounds like from all the responses that I am not alone with feeling "uncomfortable" at full stops two up. Maybe uncomfortable is too strong of a word. Maybe "hyper aware of my balance point" ? My wife knows not to wiggle as we are stopped or coming to a stop but that much weight up that high sure changes the way the bike feels at the stopping moment. About my left knee- just to try to explain. I have 1200 leaning on it and so if I try to switch from full extension lock to slightly bent I get a lock bend lock bend lock bend thing happen in very quick succession - so I put my right foot down at that moment and the balance point goes to center from a smidge left and all is right with the world. But doesn't it look cool to only have your left foot down at a light, two up, on a full dresser? I want to look cool .... Wings do it, ultra classics do it. VentureFar...

Ok about all that - and Peg still rides with you? Good on ya! What do you do on NORMAL, calm, not day dreaming stops with Peg on board? VentureFar...

Sorry I couldn't find the original thread where I spoke about being very comfortable coming to a stop solo but two up always so uncomfortable. So I started this one. I know the correct way to stop two up is using the rear brake to come to a complete stop and Left foot down. My legs are strong ( I play Ice Hockey) but when I do that my left knee is exactly at the extended/ flex position so when I do stop with only my left foot down I am very concerned about dropping it on that side. If I stop with front brake only ( last foot or so) I can put both feet down simultaneously and so I feel stable, but stopping with front brake only doesn't have the control so I am always rushed to put both feet down so that is uncomfortable. SO - I have been strict with my self two up and practicing rear brake to stop only with left foot down, then right. It is not habit yet by any means but it is what I do when two up. Maybe my inseam/leg length is just the exact wrong length for putting my left foot down and have my knee feel stable. What ever it is, I am motivated to always stop the right way every time. Anyone else have this issue and if so, how do you handle it? VentureFar...

Tonight I was lucky to spend a few enjoyable hours with Jayceesfolly. We met at the hotel and we talked about life and riding. Jay has a beautiful paint job on his 1st Gen and his "Rigid" spot beams really put out the light- not unlike my visionX. I am truly blessed to get to meet forum members all over this great country. Thanks for chewing the fat with me Jay! ( Cmcoffey ever heard that one before?) Venture Far...

Ditto what Puc wrote. It is always more personal when you know someone or know the area. Strange that we hear about issues in "far off places" that go in one ear and out the other, then we meet someone whose son, daughter, loved one is in the middle of that issue and it gains personal meaning to us and goes to a personal spot in our heart. sweet. I am coming in on SWA 2774 from Chicago arv 5:55p You might want to check on that flight before leaving home just to make sure of the timing. The hotel only picks up on the 1/2 hour so 6 arrival gets picked up at 6:30p and then about 20 min to the hotel. I think meeting at 7:30 should cover it. I asked the front desk where to meet and they suggested the Horizon's Lounge. It is the lounge in the bar. Here is the mug you are looking for - sorry to look so scary.... http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v468/ihavethespirit/078723FA-81FB-40A8-8AF0-959AA5314249_zpsch4ag1ae.jpg VentureFar...

OEM Highway Light Alternatives
VentureFar replied to ENG2242's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
I got mine from visionxwholesale.com Mounted them on L brackets coming off the mirror stalks. They are wicked bright and. Now visionx has even brighter ones with such low power drain. Up high I get farther distance. I have the left one a bit loose so I can adjust it depending on the ON coming traffic and the right one is fixed in the middle of the road about a 100 yards. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v468/ihavethespirit/Yamaha%20Royal%20Star%20Midnight%20Venture/spotlocationtest_zpsac4e9a15.png VentureFar... -

Hi all, I pm'd with Jayceesfolly and he advises that PB&J; Big Tom & Taters; rstacy; Daitan; Etrider; KevinR; and Skeeter all live fairly nearby Woodcliff Hotel where I will be Monday night Aug 11. Any chance some of you can come to the Woodcliff for a meet and greet about 7:30-8pm? I am fortunate to be able to travel around this great country of ours from time to time and get to meet fellow forum members. If it looks like a fit then please reply - pm or on this thread. Will be fun to meet with you as long as Southwest arrives on time. VentureFar...

This is so funny. My daughter was a drummer in a rock band about 16 years ago and she was replaced by a drum machine when they got into techno music. I just sent her this video and I know she will crack up. Thanks for sharing! VentureFar...

Are there photos posted anywhere of these pegs and in different positions? The only time I have dropped a bike while moving is in a sharp parking lot turn and my ankle/calf got caught by the peg just as I stalled the bike - lots of issues here - but I would rather my wife be less comfortable all the time than me dropping my PRECIOUS ! Anyone have "little known secrets" about 2nd Gen
VentureFar replied to VentureFar's topic in Watering Hole
Two reasons for this post - 1. I thought the newcomers would appreciate seeing this thread. 2. If your RSV won't start and it is acting like it is out of gas, like almost "catching" then listen to hear if your fuel pump in clicking. If not, take off the kickstand side side cover under the pillion - rear bolt only- front one is fake - and tap on the cover of the fuel pump with the key on- points get stuck .....and so do you. Points can be replaced - you don't have to buy a whole new fuel pump - but what ever you do, fix the problem now as it can happen while going 80mph in the fast lane. Trust me on that. VentureFar... -
I was at the rally six of the past seven years but not this year. The dalles was my ride. Wife had other plans for my vacation time. Have fun and be safe! ventureFar...

I don't know about the first 5000 miles on my 07Rsv but at 15,000 my points were shot and the fuel pump stopped working on the freeway. In the 10k miles I never ran out of gas in fact now at 20k I have never run out of gas. - ha - funny English language ran and run in the same sentence, both past tense and both not interchangeable.
