How much do you pay for FULL coverage insurance on your 2nd gen?
VentureFar replied to VentureFar's topic in Watering Hole
I just went on Progressive web page quote and it was $527 for same coverage. geeze - Maybe Autopayments with no bill each month isn't such a good thing... or maybe it is, I didn't have to start drinking at 9 am for the last 12 months...:-) VentureFar... -

I have a baggershield on my RSV for 17000 miles. I have only put the flip up once to help with warmth on my ironbutt. Otherwise even in the rain I keep it down. I wear a scorpion modular that sheds rain from the faceshield nicely. I love my baggershield !!!!! VentureFar... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Tires- No Debate!! Just a poll that's all.
VentureFar replied to ENG2242's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
I posted earlier that I have the Shinko on the rear of my 07 RSV. at 4200 miles I am getting ready to buy a new tire. I will stretch it a bit, not quite at the wear bars but close. Yes it is an inexpensive tire but since you have to buy 3 to equal the Dunlop or Michelin mentioned above, it doesn't pay. Last Shinko's I buy for a street bike. VentureFar... -

Scott, I am in awe and respect for the special bond you and your Poppers had. You have created a special bond with this whole community. Ellen and I wish you and your family the strength to always remember the goodness in his life, in his words and in his deeds. Ellen and I will be in the Vatican next weekend and even though it may not be specific to your faith, it is a place of faith and prayer and we will say a prayer there for you, your family and your Poppers. Much love Neil and Ellen VentureFar... -
Wow I ought to lay low more often, the thread reads as a book. Kind of like a TV binge of 3 seasons of Friends.... Chris - congrats on the new bike. Enjoy the new toy. VentureFar...

Hi all, Great benefit of this forum is having friends everywhere. I had a business trip to Edmonton and bmiller, who lives here, and divey, who is here visiting were nice enough to break bread with me tonight. We had a great 2 1/2 hours of shared talk, some family, some life and a whole lot of VentureTalk. Please reach out to other members if you travel. You will be glad you did. Thanks Bmiller and Divey! VentureFar... PS - Puc, I'll get to Michigan soon, you'll see, it is on my imaginary vision board......

Some plugs are a little wider and some a little narrower. Try borrowing friend's cell phone car plugs and see if senate tighter. If so then buy many at business you can return the ones that don't fit. Or use tooth picks :-) VentureFar... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Metz 888 on rear got 9000 to wear bars- 50 psi manditory Metz 880 narrow front. 12k on it and still about double wearbar tread. Just mounted Shinko tourmaster rear for a change. Have 4k on it and I expected only 5-6k - dealer info- but looks like it will go longer. Next set will be Mich Com. -
By the way do you mean midnight "royal" star ? Just checking. If so are you familiar with the narrower front tire to make the steering lighter? VentureFar...

I have the Shinko on the rear of my 07rsv for about 2500 miles. No signs of wear but the dealer said expect only 6000 miles from it. Me880 on the front with 11,000 miles and still very full of tread. Not sure if e3 or mc2 is the way to go next time. Probably will ask the same question as everyone else does when the time comes... VentureFar...

Puc --Raining hard in Rochester. Inside anyway so doesn't affect me but I pitty those daily motorcycle commuters around here. I appreciate the extra effort on helping with a solution to what shouldn't be a problem in the first place. Stopping. Should be as comfortable as going. I hadn't thought about using some throttle while stopping AND using the front brake. Come to think about it, I had occasion to do it on my dirt bike on tight switchbacks but for a whole different reason- but the idea is the same. I wouldn't suggest it for everyone for safety reasons - most are taught roll off the throttle and then Pull on the front brake. I will try it next time my Tippy is on board. I honestly can't define if my issue is the transition from feet up at a decelerating .001 mph to full stop to feet/ foot down or the timing of taking my feet/ foot from the pad to the ground at that moment. Going to be observant as possible next time. Hope this helps many. VentureFar...

Puc, I have to hand it to you. Your slow riding on your 1000 pound 1st gen is the same as my slow riding on my 265 pound xr250. Wow that is some impressive bike control - and on grass too! I know you re-read some of the thread but I am quite comfortable snail pace riding sandwiched between a van and a semi tractor at 1-5 mph on the 101 freeway at rush hour, but it is that very last ........stop...left foot down - that gets my heart pumping. If using the rear brake the bike doesn't have to be going exactly straight to stop with relatively no lean angle to it but if using the front brake only at the very end, then any wiggle waggle from straight forward seems embellished in terms of how the bike feels tippy. No disrespect to that wonderful wife of yours that is even willing to hop on for impromptu how to videos! - As you are hearing, the 2nd gen is not as stable - I guess that reads as - low center of gravity - as the 1st gen and from what you guys brag about, not as fast either....... ( as to the back off whip, I just follow the instructions on the youtube video ) VentureFar... PS - to PUC -- waiving in your direction from 8 hours close.

Venturous, I agree completely. In my case I am very good at very slow speed riding - I live in los Angeles and if I am not lane splitting - ha there is a whole new thread for the other 49 states to talk about - I have to crawl. Feet up. In fact, at a very wide open 4 way stop - where I can see for a very long way - like in the flat desert ( as example) I can make a full stop right turn and never put my feet down. Bring the bike to a STOP the wheels and GO. It is just the tippy feeling when I do come to a complete stop that bothers me. Now that I know I am not alone in this " feeling" I will just forgetaboutit! Thanks all VentureFar...
