Hello all, once again, actually for the 40th time since 2018, the folks at ultimatemotorcycling.com sent me a product to review. I know my brother from a different Mother @cowpuc reads them and I hope you do too. I don’t get paid for reviewing. It is a labor of love. Comments are always welcome. https://ultimatemotorcycling.com/2021/06/13/hjc-f70-carbon-review-full-face-touring-motorcycle-helmet/ FYI I am reviewing the Klim airbag vest right now and I will tell you I will always have it on from now on ! I am originally from California and lane split on the freeway on my venture anytime the traffics was slowing down to around 45 or less. Especially stop and go traffic. Because cagers in California grew up with motorcycles splitting lanes is is not only accepted practice but many times assisted by giving more room. My wife and I would go to Santa Barbara on 101 and since it was always stop and go during the summer, the cages would literally move to their left and right and open a huge lane for the strings of motorcycles going by. It was only the occasional inattentive driver that would hug the inside of their lane or a Dick 20 something in a convertible BMW with 4 of his male friends blocking on purpose. I live in Oregon now. When the bill was close to passage I posted a thread on Nextdoor. Believe me, you don’t want to lane filter in Oregon. They openly threatened to open doors, block lanes etc. the common EGO response was “ they should have to wait in line like the rest of us”. FYI I never clipped a mirror in all the years of splitting. Although I found myself not breathing as I slide between the cages, I felt safer than getting rear ended. VentureFar…

I bought an h4 led about 4 years ago and after I received it I called Kisan to confirm my headlight modulator will work with it. Nope. Didn’t want to spend $100 on a new modulator so I put the led away on the shelf. I won’t ride without a headlight modulator. It is to me as important as a helmet. VentureFar…

Thanks. Another riding brother called me a few weeks ago and told me that he has a friend that laid in a ditch for 10 hours because he couldn't be seen from the road. I started investigating and found a portable ( vehicle to vehicle) device that is like ONSTAR except portable. they sent me one to test because they have never checked it on a motorcycle. Also, I just discovered that onstar has a monthly subscription that uses the sensors in your mobile phone to detect a crash and it alerts the emergency center but you have to be in cell hone range to get help. I just noticed @cowpuc post showing the electric bicycle alarm when coincidently I was getting on the forum here to share my most recent product review of a reasonably priced GPS location tracker for motorcycles. Invoxia markets their tracker as a aid in recovering stolen motorcycles. Here is my review- comments always welcome https://ultimatemotorcycling.com/2021/05/27/invoxia-cellular-gps-tracker-review-motorcycle-anti-theft-device/ The device is small enough that it could be secured on the underside of those electric bike seats. Your phone app will show you exactly where it is and the route it is following. Check it out. VentureFar...

My review of the Sena 10C Evo - Bluetooth WITH camera
VentureFar replied to VentureFar's topic in Watering Hole
I have never tested a GoPro. Here is what I believe any stand alone camera comparison looks like to the Sena 10C Evo Bluetooth 1. The Sena 10C records the audio off your mic as you are taking video so if you are narrating, it is laid down in real time. 2. Any stand alone camera will be out front and should be taking a full view picture or video. The 10C always has the side of your helmet in the field of view. Maybe a good place to sell advertising if you have a big following??? 3. Cameras don't send music, turn by turn directions, intercom conversations and phone calls inside your helmet. I haven't tried the Sena 10C off road yet but I purposely road my Venture on some pretty broken up pavement and the video was stable to my eyes. -
Hi all, Being a lucky dog, I got in the mail the Sena Bluetooth communicator with the built in video/still camera. It is now a permanent fixture on my everyday helmet. No more one handed photos using my $700 iPhone ! @cowpuc has a lifelong photographer on the back but not all of us have a dedicated pillion like "Tip". This Sena unit is all it is cracked up to be! I hope you enjoy the read. Comments are always welcome https://ultimatemotorcycling.com/2021/03/26/sena-10c-evo-review-motorcycle-bluetooth-intercom-camera-combo/ VentureFar...

What’s your #1 tip for a multi day trip?
VentureFar replied to Pasta Burner's topic in Watering Hole
I am really impressed with the Joe Rocket Alter Ego 2.0 overpants for rain and warmth. Remember you want wide leg opening to put them on OVER your boots at roadside. https://ultimatemotorcycling.com/2019/06/11/joe-rocket-alter-ego-2-0-motorcycle-pants-review/ VentureFar... -
If I can get back into my house from the power outage in Portland I will go for a ride and try it out. With the 1080p, per my detailed review on ultimatemotorcycling.com I found I could not ever read a license plate in motion or standing still unless I got real close. When stopped at a light I would first stop where MY eyes could read the license plate ahead of me. I would then creep forward all the way to the bumper. I would review the video later and each time I would see in the video that I would be 1/2 to 2/3 closer to read the plate in the reviewed video. It will be real easy to see if the resolution is greater on this particular unit. I will report back. In about a week or so. VentureFar...

Hi all i just did a dash cam challenge for ultimatemotorcycling.com I had two front/ rear 1080p cams set up on my Venture at the same time. One thing I did coming to stop lights was stop where I could read the plate in front of me and then creep up to view later where that same plate was readable on playback. It was about 2/3 closer. I just bought a “4K” Chinese action camera to see what it does on license plates. Unfortunately there is snow on the ground. Uggh. Regardless of image quality I believe we should all have a dash cam. Hi all, I contacted two dash cam manufacturers to do a comparison review of a high priced and a low priced unit. I struggled with the planning of how to hook up two sets of cameras. I channeled my inner @cowpuc and got it figured out. Then the fun began with taking rides and then reviewing video to find good comparison photos. Comments are welcome. Please share your dash cam setups with the forum. https://ultimatemotorcycling.com/2021/02/10/motorcycle-dashcam-challenge-blueskysea-dv988-vs-thinkware-m1/ VentureFar...

Ok, never let an amateur touch your bike! That would be me. I had the ignition fuse in my hand and determined it was good. Except my mechanic “smitty’s” in Portland Oregon found it was bad ! Never let an amateur work on your bike🙂 The fuel pump points I replaced fixed the original problem so all is good with the world Happy Holidays all VentureFar...

Friends, I just bought a house, we are moving shortly, I have 2 different dash cams and a new motorcycle phone mounting systems I have to mount and review. I just don't have the time to hunt down what will probably turn out to be a very simple reason. I am throwing in the towel. There is a local mechanic who usually does restores on bikes and antique cars that will troubleshoot it ( for a reasonable fee). I have to go the "save time" route this time. You all are great for trying to help from a distance. I will have AAA flat bed my RSV to Smitty's and see what happens. I'll let you all know what we find. Happy Holidays to one and all. Thanks for this starting point. I do have an ignition switch relay, purchased from someone on the forum ( can't remember who but thanks) so I doubt it is the ignition switch. checked: Have 11.53 vdc at the ignition fuse. 12.5 directly off the battery. Now what? baby steps please 🙂 Thanks for the guidance... VentureFar...

But I will try to figure out which side of the fuse you are talking about and check for voltage. baby steps please 🙂 Thanks VentureFar...

Sharing my review of the new KLIM Adventure style riding boots
VentureFar replied to VentureFar's topic in Watering Hole
Thanks for the kind words. Yup, they stop at 14. sorry. -
HELP - So I went out to miss reliable 2007 RSV with 45,000 miles and got the normal fuel pump points issue. I ordered new points and while waiting for them to arrive I decided to "check for voltage to the points". I separated the two wire connector and stuck my probes in to check voltage. Turned on the key and saw a momentary digital run up past 7.?vdc and then nothing. I then hit the starter and nothing happened. pressing the starter gets a red idiot temperature light below the Neutral light. Did my kickstand down switch just go bad? I am not good at troubleshooting electrical. I did check the ignition fuse and it is ok. any suggestions are greatly appreciated VentureFar....someday, but not today.
