I have a 2007 RSV and had the 10.5" adjustable on since may 2013. I only put the extension up 2x and not for long. Air goes over my head anyway. I made the mistake of putting loctite on the center set screws a year ago. Sunday the lucite broke at both hold down screws and I had a windshield in my left hand at 80mph totally my fault. NEVER USE LOCTITE ON PLASTIC ! I just called them and ordered an 11" fixed. Since I never "adjusted" I didn't see a reason to have the feature. if the 11 inch is actuall 1/2 taller than the adjustable 10.5" then I will like it even better because I ride with my full face shield open and if I set up slightly to adjust my butt then the air directly hits the top of the shield and lowers it for me - nice feature if you want to lower your shield with out touching it, just sit up straight - but with the extra 1/2 in height the air might just go a little higher over the top of the open face shield.I agree with the darkness of the shield being a problem at dusk riding on gravel but when that happens I just sit up taller as I always see over it anyway. Be careful taking off the chrome plastic thing. Take your time and unsnap each " clip" downward after removing the two panel set screws. My two cents VentureFar...

VentureFar is not venturing far this summer. Just did a round trip to Denver to see my daughter for Father's Day and that is about it for a long one this summer. It was great to give you and Tip a hug last Sturgis! We will connect again soon I hope. Neil VentureFar...

Well at 80 mph in the fast lane down hill in traffic my windshield comes loose and I literally grab it as it is going to fly off. I pull over and look at both holes in the plastic where I used the tiny'est smidge of loctite, had broken off. oops. Time for a new baggershield but this time after only converting it one time in 3 years I will get the single 11" instead of the convertible. SO ? How do I keep the set screws from coming loose if not using loctite? Any ideas? Thanks all. VentureFar... PS - a shout out to my good friend @cowpuc so he knows I didn't get lost in the California fruit and nuts....

I have never noticed an issue with the extra lean. Ride every weekend and park on varying surfaces. Just my two cents after 30k miles in three years. VentureFar... -

Silverstar Ultra replacement bulb numbers?
VentureFar replied to Lug Nut's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
I have really bright "passing LEDs " and in the real darkness of the night they light up the road perfectly but if I have to turn them off for an oncoming vehicle I went to total darkness with my stock 2nd gen Rsv bulb. I replaced with PIAA supreme while H4 60/55w. Pn 70456 it ia brighter to the oncoming eye but doesn't light up the ground any better. That said. I turned the bars to the left. Reached in from the right side with a bright flashlight and replaced the bulb. Had to get help from a real long nose pliers to push the cap back all the way in. Ps. After you adjust your new bulb take the adjuster know off and throw in your side bag. My first one disappears on rhe freeway. Easy to do. Just look inside and you will see where you have to pull off VentureFar... -
A good friend and I who do long rides together recently did a quick 3 1/2 day round trip Los Angeles to Portland (2000 miles ) On the way back about 9pm after riding from early morning we were talking on our comm's about assessing our level of fatigue. My buddy was definitely on his second wind but I was questioning my fatigue level. That by itself should be the red flag, but I found MY farigue measuring stick. When I am rested I can sweep my eyes from left to right or right to left smoothly ( as we all do when scanning ) and when I am fatigued as I scan my eyes stutter across the horizon. As soon as I recognized this we found the next motel. What is your test for getting off the road? If you don't have one then subscribe to this thread (I hope). Ride safe, VentureFar...

Just did the same thing pulling the tank off my 07 2nd gen. Seems like pushing the tube back in with a tap tap tap is the way to go. Freaked me out seeing the brass tube come out so easily. Thanks all VentureFar...

Update/clarification from my friend who is an Los Angeles Police Sargent: Yes the new law clearly states NO earplugs or earbuds in both ears. But, YES you can have speakers in your helmet to listen to music etc. So for you halfie helmet riders, pick which ear you want to lose your hearing in......... VentureFar...

Hi All that live and ride in CA or planning to visit - new law about earbuds. I was going on the DMV site to renew my DL and spotted this. Just about every rider wears some sort of ear protection: Here is the info and the link: Earbuds or Headsets (SB 491, Transportation Committee): This law, among other things, makes it unlawful to wear a headset covering, earplugs in, or earphones covering, resting on, or inserted in, both ears, while operating a motor vehicle or a bicycle. This prohibition does not apply to persons operating authorized emergency vehicles, construction equipment and refuse or waste equipment while wearing a headset or safety earplugs. http://www.dmv.ca.gov/portal/dmv/detail/pubs/newsrel/newsrel15/2015_65 VentureFar...

Fuel Tank Arithmetic (I HATE math with a passion!)
VentureFar replied to Semi-retired's topic in Watering Hole
On long rides like Iron Butt or solo to Sturgis trying to make "miles" every gas stop is a delay. In Wyoming and Montana sometimes the gas stations are either too close or almost too far. So I plan to get gas 1/2 way through reserve -the extra 4/10 at the top helps in these circumstances. I havent heard of any one blowing themselves up punching the holes but then again they wouldn't be posting that, now would they! VentureFar... -

@Semi-retired see the above post? 1/2 gallon not accessible at the top. Ergo punch a few filler neck holes to let the air out- or blow your self up and the gas station too :-) VentureFar... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -
Fuel Tank Arithmetic (I HATE math with a passion!)

I punched the holes in the filler neck. Did it at a gas station but off to the side. Filled up as much as I could. Ride 50'feet away and took out my rubber hammer and my awl. Punched 4 holes in the filler neck as high as I could and ride back to the pump and put in another 4/10 gallon. When I go on reserve and get gas immediately I squeeze in 4.3 gallons. I get 160 to 180 miles to reserve light with two bars showing. That still leaves me 1.6 gallons to walking at about 36 to 38 mpg at gps 75 mph which is indicated 81 on the speedo. Sincere cruise control will only do indicated 80 to 81 mph I cruise at actual 74-74 mph over the ground. Depending on wind direction or none is 33 mpg to max 42 mpg. But over 20,000 miles of mostly freeway in my 2007 Rsv I plan to average 35 mpg for planning fuel stops. And that's all I have to say about that. VentureFar... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
