  1. It is 9pm out here in the West and I just got the editor's edited version. I ran through it quickly and added a point about the sound system. I should have the link tomorrow. Sorry for the wait. VentureFar...
  2. I am told my ride report will be up later this week. Sorry for the delay. Editorial priorities:-) Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  4. I have over 600 miles of test ride on the Venture TC and 550 on the Eluder. Please go for as long of a test ride as the dealer will allow. It took 60miles for my butt to start hurting on the Venture. If I would have had only 50 miles to test the venture I wouldn’t have known the seat doesn’t work for me. AND at 3 hours in the saddle my neck developed a severe pain and 40 minutes later my back had a knot in it. 50 miles is the same as riding around the block on a bike that is billed as “ transcontinental”. And make darn sure you test ride when the temp is over 80 degrees. You will discover the the rear cylinder exhaust pipe heat that needs to be addressed. FYI if you practice before riding, I was able to adjust the lower vents but it isn’t the safest thing to do- kind of like reaching down to toe your shoe at 70mph. I have a full ride report coming out on ultimatemotorcycling.com this week. I will post it. If any one has questions about my Eluder and venture 500 mile each rides please ask. VentureFar... 6. here you go. Happen to have one hanging on my wall
  7. I got the ebc hh pads in the mail. Will be mounting soon and will share what I experience. VentureFar... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  8. The backrest is built in and I have learned is adjustable but no way to push against it. I believe you will have to cut plastic to fit the mounting bracket. VentureFar... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  9. It is I, VentureFar. And I haven’t gotten the link from ultimatemotorcycling.com yet. By the way, spoiler alert, I turned around and only did 1/2 the distance because I hurt so bad. Developed a pain in my neck at 3 hours and a knot in my back at 3hrs 40minutes. Threw in the towel knowing I still had to ride 3hrs and 40 minutes back. For me, without highway pegs which don’t seem mountable without cutting plastic kept me from being able to push back on the back rest. And the seat hurt my butt after only 60 miles the day before when I rode it two up with the wife. So I used my trusty air pillow - so my butt didn’t hurt. I am pressing for the link. Will advise. Sorry it is taking so long. VentureFar... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  10. Bike wise, I wear a dog tag with all my info on it when I ride and I string my spare bike key on that. Always around my neck. Carwise-I have AAA ... VentureFar... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  11. I just ordered the EBC HH pads last night for the front. Will bleed the front thoroughly on the replacement. I will report. Going for a 200 mile ride this morning to get back used to my baby. I was sitting on it last night moving it around in the garage to set the tire pressure and I heard and audible. “Ahhhhhhh” emanate from my mouth. So comfortable. VentureFar... 12. Yup. I scan to the horizon which on the freeway is about 12 seconds in most areas. I am just saying that there is a 1000% difference between the brakes on the 2 2018 bikes I just rode and my Venture’s brakes. VentureFar...
  13. guess I just need to unlearn the 2018 brakes I just got used to. I didn’t have a problem with them 2 weeks ago! venturefar...
  14. Medium rare when riding at 35 mph at 78 degrees for 5 minutes. It honestly felt like my internal temperature was increased. VentureFar...
  15. I thought they were good brakes too until I got used to the Abs brakes on the Gen 3! Venturefar...
  16. Interesting. Thanks. Still cheaper than a new bike :-) Venturefar...
  17. After putting 1000 miles on the 2018 Eluder and the 2018 Venture I hopped on my 2007 RSV and thought I had lost the front brake altogether ! How much extra braking power do you get if you replace the rubber brake lines with Steel? Thanks VentureFar...
  18. It will be next week before I can post the link on my ride report. Sorry for the delay. If anyone has a question sing out. VentureFar... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  19. Ok, stayed up late last night trying to document everything about the 2018. I submitted it. Now waiting for the link. VentureFar...
  20. Thanks for having my back but as we know Yamaha's are reliable. VentureFar...
  21. Well it is close to being true. I planned on 1024 miles in 18 hours today. I only did 553 miles today because it hurt too much. Everyone is different but after 4 hours in the saddle I got a kink in my neck and a knot in my back. I found my limit on the 2018 Star Venture Transcontinental as ridden - 276 miles and 4 hours and 40 minutes- and I still had to do the same to get home. The problem for me was no highway pegs to put pressure on so I could utilize the back rest. I am starting my ride report tonight and will be submitting to my new best friends at UltimateMotorcycling.com for posting, just like the Eluder ride. I also took my wife for a couple of hour two up ride yesterday and she had lots to say about the pillion area. Feel free to ask questions if you can’t wait for the write up. Happy to answer any and all. Fyi @cowpuc and I had a couple of hour long conversations while enroute. Helped pass the time. Here is what pic and I came up with for quick and dirty highway pegs Venturefar...
  22. Read my ride report on the Eluder- see link. Short answer is if live where the temp never gets above 78 degrees you won’t notice it. If you live where it gets above 78 degrees you will be looking for ways to keep your left thigh from baking. It is hot and uncomfortable on the eluder. I haven’t ridden above 75 degrees on the Venture yet. It does have the side fairing wind deflectors that might help, but at a long stop light on a hot day it will be a problem. https://ultimatemotorcycling.com/2018/02/07/2018-yamaha-star-eluder-test-death-valley-bust/ phoenix should be in the low 80’s today. More when I have it VentureFar...
  23. Initial impressions two up. After one hour ride to Ojai for lunch and of course shopping, wife says my 2007 Gen 2 is more comfortable. The wrap around on either side she misses. Says the seat is not as comfortable and the saddle bags don’t allow her freedom of leg position. Air flow is similar to her and experience on my Venture bu not was a bit cool and she did like the seat heater. More to come. VentureFar... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  24. Wife says was just a sore throat scare. All good for tomorrow. Yes I will be writing up both rides for ultimate motorcycling. It is fun and I am happy to share the info with my fellow forumites. Is that a word? VentureFar...
  25. No time on the harley but I did test ride the Indian bagger a couple of years ago at the international show and didn’t notice any heat out of the ordinary. Looking back heat was a non issue on the Indian. This eluder/Venture left side heat thing is down right uncomfortable standing still and darn annoying at freeway speeds. I don’t have a temp gauge but I don’t need one to know that slow speed riding on a warm day will raise your internal body temp. At 78 degrees air temp riding the eluder at 35mph my armpits were actually dripping. I took note of that because my armpits don’t ever straight drip. I agree that the chopper exhaust wrap should send the heat farther down the pipe but it will look like crap. Venturefar...
