Help with making brakes better?
VentureFar replied to VentureFar's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Took her out for a quick brake check. I would say the ebc hh fronts are obviously stronger. Enough to notice. I say it was worth the money and effort. VentureFar... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -
Is my Gen 2 clutch slipping or do I have a Slipper clutch?
VentureFar replied to VentureFar's topic in Watering Hole
So I took her out for a quick test ride and I didn’t get anywhere near a freeway so I could only try the hard roll on in third. Seemed better but I never saw the slipping in third. Just 4 th and fifth. If it still slips on hard acceleration in 4th and 5th is it the springs or a whole skydoc? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -
I rented a LT1200 to ride to Las Vegas for a meeting :-) About 570 miles RT. The saying that bmw is the ultimate driving machine hold me true for the LT. however it is tippy 2up. When ever I see a 2up LT come into a parking lot and I am near I mosey over to get close in cas they tip while parking. Many have come close and I caught one from falling. Rider was surprised I was there to catch him. Anyway, it rode great in all respected but I didn’t have highway pegs or a back rest so it personally killed me for 470 of Re 570 miles. Total kink in my neck and pain in my shoulder. Just like my experience on the 2018 Venture. Nice bike. Like my 2nd gen better though. VentureFar... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

The little hole just to the right of the big hole definitely squirts. I am sure a lot of you will be thinking of all kinds of comments on that statement. This is a family forum. Keep it clean. VentureFar... -

Yup. Replaced the points at 15,000 miles and installed the ignition bypass relay. I am batting 1000 :-) VentureFar... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -

Ok. Someone please tell me that in 2007 dot 4 brake fluid was the color of espresso! Well I replaced it with the new clear dot 4 they are selling now. Didn’t go for a ride to check my clutch but will soon. I have to also check my new ebc hh front brake pads. I can’t believe that the clutch is worn out at 39000 miles when most of it is freeway gas stop to gas stop. I will advise how the acceleration goes. Fingers crossed. Is this the correct color for clutch fluid? VentureFar... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -
READ THIS FIRST If you are going to adjust bars put thick protection on the tank below both button control consoles. If the bars are loosened and you or a trusted friend are not holding on tight in the up directional falls. If it falls you will dent your tank ! I always rode in the touring mode. I hit the botton a few times to check it out but I found no need to have more umph. I didn’t hear the bag lids rattling. Please get yourself a new horn. I use the cruise control any time I am going straight for a bit. I used the cruise control a lot and 100 percent of the time when I tapped the front brake or rear brake lightly it would jerk hard as though I really hit the front brake- which I didn’t Enjoy your new scoot. Yes the Gen 2 doesn’t throw any heat off at 35mph in 78 degrees but the heat on my left leg on the eluder was causing my armpits to drip sweat- and I am not a big sweat’er. VentureFar... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Remember I don’t have any stock in this, just a ride report for my friends on the forum. And we all know every body is different. The editor of ultimate motorcycling.com is my height and he said the same thin: Didn’t see a reason to have highway pegs. What is the longest ride you have taken on your new Eluder in one day? fyi the Venture didn’t give me the same shin pain and I was on it for the same 8 hours just one week later. I don’t know what the different in ergonomics is between the bikes. I just know that I was limping after a day on the eluder VentureFar...

Is my Gen 2 clutch slipping or do I have a Slipper clutch?
VentureFar replied to VentureFar's topic in Watering Hole
so far this sounds doable. What am I missing ? The bleeder for the clutch is under that square rubber cap on the left side of the engine aft of the V. The expansion hole is at the base of the reserve. With the reserve cover off and just slightly squeezing the clutch lever you should see a small ripple appear on the surface of the fluid. If not it's plugged. The fluid should be like water clear. If it's dark at all it's time for a bleed. VentureFar... -

i am an UN wrench but I do my own wrenching after getting my head around the project. Planning, watching videos, laying out the tools etc etc since each attempt is a first for me. Honestly I have always managed to accomplish the goal. I just replaced my front pads with ebc HH and bled th fluid without running the reservoir dry and not getting any dot 4 on my tank :-) i can do it but it helps to be explained to me like it is my first time- because it is. Then I can follow the simple instructions. Thx for your thoughts. VentureFar... -
Seriously the total heat off the left side was hot and penetrating and it was only 78 degrees. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Ugg more money to spend. It has done this for 34,000 miles. I have 39000 on it now and got it at 5000. Not just a feature huh? VentureFar... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -
Help with making brakes better?
VentureFar replied to VentureFar's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Just put the new ebc hh pads on the front. Also bled the brake fluid. It is raining in Southern California right now so I don’t want to take her for a test ride. With 39,000 miles on her the original front pads had as much meat on them as the new ebc hh’s. Friends I use the front brake more than the rear but overall most of my riding is long haul gas tank to gas tank but my rear was shot at about 29,000. Worn through to the bone. Someone please explain to me, does the Gen 2 have linked brakes and what exactly does that mean when you pull on the front brake only or push on the rear brake only Or use them both? This is a photo of the old but still new oem pads at 39,000 miles! VentureFar... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -
To start with I don’t know what I am talking about. I have only heard the words here but never saw an explanation. When I am in 4th or 5th just below to the power band and I give it full throttle the revs come up obviously faster than the bike and then it evens out after a few moments of wild acceleration. Slipper clutch or clutch slipping ? Someone please explain this phenomenon. VentureFar... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
