Bike Year and Model
1987 venture royal

I have heard it rumored that cummins built a camless diesel and test ran it at pikes peak
-
put the 777hd on the rear of my 87 and love the way it runs,as far as vibration problems, havent noticed any vibration and have had mine over 100 mph.
-
back a lot more than 20 years ago i was placed in charge of training the new young mechanics the company hired (seems i had the patience for the job). the group i had trailing me most of the time became known as the wrench jocks,so i just condensed it a little and used it as an email tag and have ever since.

glad to send it to you, where would you like it sent ?

If anyone has need of a ventureline backrest for a first gen mk2 let me know.I have tried it on my bike and just dont like it,dont like the way itfits me and it is too hard to get on the bike for me with low back problems when its installed.will give it to whomever can use it free of charge.the chrome needs a little help but the backpad is in good shape(no rips).Send me a PM and I will get back to you.

did mine over the winter and used 15w oil and no air rides very well might just try a couple of pounds of air just to see what the difference is

the px 125 is what they are calling an xl.if you google dowco px 125 it should bring it right up for you
-
new cover finally came in so now the big blonde monster made her debut back home ,now let the weather cooperate so the riding can begin. if anyone is looking for an all weather cover that fits the first gens very well i recomend the DOWCO PX125 ,its water proof and all lower panels are treated so you dont have to wait for your pipes to cool down.
-
that has been in the works for the past 2 years, maybe this year i will finally get the time to do the rally.
-
The weather here on the tug hill plateau has finally offered a break,so I jumped on the blonde monster and took her out for state inspection.got more miles today than i got all last yeardue to injuries and bad weather, almost forgot just how relaxing the ride can be,and didnt hurt that all the new upgrades made for a smooth reliable ride.would like to go again this weekend ,(weather supposed to be in the mid 60's)but got to go on the SNIRT RUN ,should be a good time.
-
got the cable upgrade done and may i say WHAT A DIFFERENCE,starts just as easy hot as it does cold.thanks all for the advice!
-
Thanks for the responses guys,I will try the cable upgrade this weekend . Cowpuc ,its been a pleasure keeping the big blonde Haley eatin monster on a roll, didnt get but a handfull of miles last year due to poor weather and suprise medical, but plan to change that this year.
-
no i havent done the cable upgrade yet,is it possible /probable that the solonoid could be breaking down and drawing to much with heat
-
Finally done with the winter work on the bike ,new rear tire, rear bearings checked and packed splines lubed, rebuilt forks with progressive springs drained, flushed and refilled cooling system, replaced old stock 2 brush starter with new 4 brush unit, and new AGM battery. The bike starts the best it ever has cold ,but still cranks hard hot ,any ideas on what I should be looking at next to cure that problem ?

should be a faulty coolant temp sensor, that sensor should be near the thermostat housing, generally one wire for gauge sensor and in your best interest to get OEM sensor as has been my expirence that the aftermarket ones dont seem to last on the ugly blue ovals.
