  1. Did you get the T-bird as part of the deal?
  2. Pond, or the pool. Pond would be good for you.
  3. The clutch action could get mushy at high altitudes with even the TINIEST of air bubbles in the system. Even excessive moisture will boil out some bubbles at high altitudes and temps encountered with a big climb. Fresh fluid and a good bleeding should take care of it.

    CRA Scam

You could always pull a Tom Mabe prank on the scammer and inform them that the person they are attempting to contact (you) is the subject of an ongoing federal investigation and demand to know their involvement with said perpetrator. Inform them that if they do not cooperate they will be considered a hostile witness. Give some off phone shouts to your co-workers to gather as much evidence as they can before "wiping" the crime scene. They probably won't bother you again.
  5. I definitely understand the decision not to wave for Patmac. If I lived in the MKE area I would not remove my hands from the bars at all. They would have to pry them off when I stopped. I always got nervous driving around there on 4 wheels. Now, if I were 20-ish again, that would be a different story. Back then I was indestructible.
  6. That's what happens when you put Hardley parts on your bike. They just want to find their way to the side of the road.
  7. I want to know how Andrew managed to get pictures of the ONLY straight stretches of road we saw all weekend?
  8. I have the original Ventureline saddlebag liners, but they are for the MK2. If some dimensions and pictures would help, let me know and I will dig them out when I get home tonight.
  9. Another thank you to Sharon and Orlin for putting up with all of us for this wonderful ride. I really enjoyed meeting all of you (most for the first time). Now I gotta work on getting enough camping gear stashed on the bike so I can stay on site (then I won't miss the fireworks).
  10. They must have meant the grommets. My pressure washer runs on gas and uses a lot of water.
  11. Well, I have a couple to whet your appetite. On that subject is the required stop for pizza and ice cream. Everybody loved it. The assembled participants at said establishment. Unfortunately, I did not get a shot of the Harley trike we had to push start (only 2 years old). And last (and least) is one shot to prove that your buddy Puc made a brief appearance. This was just before the goat did a terrible thing to Tweeks. I am sure there will be more to come in short order. It was some great riding. Everybody was able to put down the wrenches and join in. We are all hoping you can get in on the next event. Maybe the leaf-lookers?
  12. There are some similarities to our snowmobile club rides in a few of the above posts. We also tend to split into groups. I use to stick to the "wick it up and roost the trails" group, but lately I have been leading the touring riders on a more sane pace. We all follow the same guidelines and most of us have been involved with teaching or helping at the safety training courses. Some of us even do the trail grooming (that's why I quit ripping up the trails).
  13. Will there be any members going to this event from the Eau Claire/Menomonie area on Friday morning? I plan to leave around 8:00 a.m. if everything works out. I will probably head to Black River Falls and then turn south. Let me know if there is anyone to ride along.
  14. I have never seen one like that. Pretty unusual.
  15. What Jeff said! And if it froze in storage (they tend to do that without a full charge) it may not be good news.
  16. Well Dan, I can truly say I know how you feel. The only time I went down hard enough to go to an emergency room was back in my Navy days. I came to, looking at a LEO's sidearm as he saw I was coming around and handed me a ticket for following too close. He said I hit a city bus. I don't remember anything, and could not dispute his version without any recollection of the accident. Everything but the accident itself has come back into focus. If the details of your accident don't come back, you will have to find your own way to make up for the moments lost. I hope and pray you can heal on every level.
  17. It might also help to have the battery load tested. Usually can be done for free. It may have the voltage, but can't handle the amps you need for the starter.
  18. I don't think you need to take the plastic cover off to change plugs. It may depend on the type of socket, though. Also check the plug wire ends (unscrewed from caps) and cut back 1/4" or so if not clean.
  19. What were the jumper cables connected for if you were using your good battery? These bikes (any bikes I know of) will not run without a well charged battery in place. If the battery voltage drops they will spit and sputter and eventually die. That would be an indication of a charging system problem or a battery that has a weak cell (or possibly just bad wire connections).
  20. This is what my E3 looks like after 7800 miles on front of a 1st gen. Pretty sure the rotation is right. Handles OK. Shinko handled better, but was gone by 9000 miles. Rear only lasted 7000. I am hoping to double that with the E3's. Twice the price, so I better get twice the mileage.
  21. I thought the springs were coiled, not straight! You must have the special ones.
  22. I plan to be there Friday afternoon and leaving Saturday evening by 7. I would like to know if anyone going will have a meter handy to check out my CB antenna tuning. I replaced it last year and have not had a chance to check it out. If nothing else, I can just try to see if anyone can hear me transmit, I guess. Looking forward to seeing everyone, and meeting those I haven't met yet.
  23. I have had good experiences with the Red Wing work boots. I know they are a little more expensive, but they are worth it to me, once I saw the quality and tried them on. I also appreciate the fact they stand behind their product and even offer repair and custom fit services.
  24. I don't think F4 makes a 1st gen windshield, but I bought a standard height replacement from JC Whitney for $75. It is a Slipstreamer, and not available in custom heights, but the price made me think I could replace it every 2 years without stretching my wallet. Then you could cut your original down, like Jeff suggested to see how you like it.
  25. "Okay, I have the gas tank cleaned up and I am ready to Cream the tank. I have a few questions. I have searched the library and the internet forum search but can not find instructions for the following. 1) How do I drill out the neck of my tank if that is in fact necessary, 1989 model" I don't think you will have to do any drilling on the neck. You may be referencing a mod done to 2nd gens.
