I spent the day yesterday doing my annual 1st Aid requalification. I've been doing my job for 33 years. I work with over 2000 other men & women and the area we work is one of the few communities in North American that is still growing. The average experience on our front line is less than nine years, the class I'm in if you exclude me, the average would be less than that. So I spend the day in a very interactive, hands on class, working in pairs and groups. We do 1st aid on each other, take it seriously but a lot of goofing around and we have fun. I feel part of the group we are a team I get respect from them cause they know I've been there done that, I feel young and confident in what I'm doing. I ace the final written test at the end of the day. The only one that got perfect! I'm feeling good still sharp, still got it, 3 years past retirement and still going. I can more than hold my own with all these whipper-snappers.
I head home feeling on top of the world, bring it on!
I get home walk in the house, walk past a mirror.......
That's reality......... "Your only as old as you feel"!!!
