Happy Birthday!
-
Sorry to hear this Dan, my condolences to you and your family.

The group was a bunch of guys who had worked together and gone on rides together off and on for years. Might only be 2 or 3 guys one time and maybe as many as 12 the next but one guy was always there, Mark! So a whole bunch of different guys had ridden with Mark over the years here and there. Mark always organized the trip and was the navigator. (Before the days of GPS & after.) So he became, "MAP MAN" Well Map Man was headed home one night and an elderly gentleman in his pickup missed a stop sign and hit Map Man broad side, he died on impact. All his old ride'n buddies decided we had to do some thing to carry on his memory so we started the Map Man Memorial Ride. This years trip to Tennessee is year 3. Now the purple helmet thing.......that was Map Man as well. He liked to push it, long rides, hours in the saddle. Some would say an iron butt, other's might say......Purple Helmets – Ride Hard (and Ride Safe) Trying to keep this PG.....so no we do not wear purple Safety Head Ware! :whistling:

Patti that book idea sounds great, you should number each signature and then take a picture. Then you would have a face to go with the name. Here is a picture of ME!"................and the other guys I ride with. And no your sister wouldn't want to put up with this lot.

Hi Mark Can you please post again if you do find out this bag will fit a "Venture Bagger Shield"?! Thanks Dave.
-
Thanks Patti I knew you would come through......just to let you know we did sort of meet at Freebird's MD last year.......But Don (B2Dad) and I had a good chat at Marcal's M.E. last year. He had me talked into coming down for your M.E. this year but that was before I knew the guys had planned this trip for Tennessee in June this year. I can't really afford to do both and I am disappointed I won't make your M.E. (Maybe next time!) Thanks again for the info.

Interesting......he also told me yesterday that it was was May 31st but on the calendar it says it's May 24th?!.....I think maybe he doesn't want me to go??! Or is he getting that old & confused?
-
Another group I ride with will be down in Tennessee in June and staying in Maryville for 3 days then we are going to head to Nashville for another 2-3 days. I'm looking for a Biker friendly Motel/Hotel for about 12 - 30 of us in Nashville. (Not sure yet how many are going to head to Nashville for sure at this point.) safe for us & the bikes and close to things to do & see? (Cheap but clean would be nice!) Also any recommendations of must see's & do's in the area. I'm looking for tips on were to start looking, if I get suggestions I will do some research and check out what I can. Thanks in advance for any info. Dave.

In life, it is all about choices we make, every single thing you do, you are choosing a direction. . And how the direction of our lives comes down to the choices we make. This is true with every act. Only you have the power to choose for yourself. When you have to make a choice and don't make it, that in itself is a choice." Oh! Sorry, I was getting philisophical there for a minute. Ah!....NEVER mind.

Good to hear from you Dave. Was wondering how you were doing with the ice storm and all the power outages. Glad Rob Ford made sure you were looked after and back on line in time for Christmas! Hope it was a good one and have a Happy New Year.

I got a "Yamaha Parts & Service" neon clock, for my man cave/doll house (That's what my kids call it.) and a tin sign says " 4 wheels move the body 2 wheels move the soul.

Don't worry Puc we don't know either! It's a British thing! Back to the old commonwealth...You know! Some say goes back to the servants had to work Christmas so they would get the next day off and a gift, "a BOX" in way of thanks for working Christmas. For years now it was our big after Christmas sale day for retailers. But as more & more U.S. based companies have set up here. (Walmart, Target etc.) Black Friday has started to be that big sale day so Boxing Day not so much......Still is but not as many good deals now!

The southern Ontario area got hit by a winter storm with up to 50 hours of freezing rain in some locations, a couple of days ago. This has coated everything in heavy sheet of ice. This morning the sun is out and the sky is clear & blue. Everything including the snow on the ground just sparkles with the ice. It looks like a Christmas postcard!! But for thousands, the storm brought down trees, branches and power lines. Power is out for many, which means no heat and has been for several days. Power crews have been working around the clock trying to restore power. Several hydro crews from all over the province and the U.S. have volunteered to give up their Christmas to come and help get the power back. It is very cold here right now and these crews are working in this weather with dangerous ice conditions all around them. The City of Toronto has many thousands of people without power, I hope all our members are safe and warm this Holiday Season.

I will toss in in some extra heads on the head count in case there are any last minute takers. Hi Ben Hope we are not too last min. Just had to be sure we were both off that weekend. Signed us up on the calendar, weather permitting we're in! Looking forward to it but we won't be able to make the MC show.

Yes the aluminum thing was trying to prove a point to a Health & Safety thing and was really just crazy. But got real good a clearing blockages the stuff just loved to stove-pipe as it was ejecting and hang-up. We practice on the range at least twice a year with dummy rounds loaded at random into a magazine just to work on clearing exercises, even the top up magazines have random dummy rounds so you never know when to expect a stoppage. Just good practice and adds to the skill level, work the problem get it clear and then back on target.
-
Yep count down crew is here......! I'd say I used to use reloads but got tired of all the miss fires and stoppages. It was great practice on clearing blockages and getting back on target. I actually was trying to do reloads on no lead aluminum cases. That was just a disaster the stuff was to soft and would just split or mis-shape & swell, wouldn't feed worth a darn. So do buy good brass if you are going to do reloads. I did enjoy it at 1st, the satisfaction of doing something yourself and of course seeing if you could hop-up your rounds for a little more punch! But I got to the point were I started thinking was I really save'n money compared to what time I was putting into it. But if you enjoy doing it and don't account for your time as money, you can save a fare amount. I had a 40 cal. Beretta at the time, I have a Glock now but have never put reloads through the Glock. Ten nine eight........

13 Things More Dangerous Than Riding A Motorcycle
The Tooch replied to Cheesehead in flatland's topic in Watering Hole
I hear you Trader!!! -
Well if you put a picture of a Harley on a t-shirt........apparently you'll sell millions!!!! Cause it appears that is what Harley riders do best.....buy t-shirts..... Don't know how well you'll do selling to Venture riders with a H.D. on there...they're a particular lot......1st gen. 2nd gen. stuff always seem to creep in there somehow as well.... But we are kind of simple, just use lots of purdy colors it will distract us and we'll buy anything!
