  1. Yea, front only. Just wanna help him figure out where the front end shimmy might be coming from on the 21st. So. figured i would be willing to let him try my wheel to check it out.
  2. Maybe if Goose comes by, we can check the balance too!
  3. Will an 85 wheel fit an 86? Reason I ask, is Lonestarmedic's 86 has a shimmy issue. So, I was thinking if I took my wheel off (tire, rim, disc's, ect... in one piece), can we put it on his to help determine if it is the tire (or whatever) or not. if you are gonna ask, I have the single piston calipers I guess, the older better looking ones.
  4. check the tire for cupping and the air pressure. if tire pressure is good and no cupping, might be a bad tire on the inside.
  5. yer prolly not gonna find a solid 1stGen knowledgeable mechanic at a dealer anymore. They are prolly retired or working their own shop. In fact, if you drove that bike to the dealer, chances are they have never seen or heard of it before - Even a Yamaha dealer (been there, heard it with my own ears). It would be interesting to hear how many Yamaha dealer mechanics have accounts here to ask how to fix a first gen.
  6. from the pics, it looks to be a perty nice seat.
  7. if it has been sitting for that long, those carbs are long over due for a cleaning. You can do a big part of it while they are still in the bike. You said "Being that I am a new rider I realy didn't notice any lose of power, the bike has run the same the whole time I have used it." Maybe you do not know what it is supposed to have because you have not experienced it yet. Take all the above suggestions, read the tech forum, search for posts and ask lots of questions. Forget the idea about taking it to a shop.
  8. I got two First Gear mesh jackets there for the ole lady and I. Her top end was bigger than we originally though the jacket would hold. I called them, they sent a bigger one and a return postage paid slip. Yes, at this time we held two jackets and yes we did send the first one back. The trust surprised me.
  9. You will like doing business with new enough. Fast delivery, courteous and helpful. They prices are good too.
  10. I had wondered why the same product went under two names. Now i know. It is mentioned what it is called on either side of the rockies on the label. This is how I knew what to get when I came to Texas from California.
  11. I always wondered why it would be reversed at times. Now I know, kewl!
  12. Here is a good tutorial http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=258 Basically, it is something want to do to keep all four carbs working the same. Make you bike run better.
  13. Sorry MAINEAC, i love lobster but that looks nasty. It don't even look like lobster, it looks like pink puke and fingers with the skin pulled off. Those two pieces on the top look like the fingernails went with the skin pull.
  14. I have FF and a MAC. I usually have the odd problem but I saw just what Don saw, 309 items. Clear Private Data (FF) or Cache & Cookies (IE) and try again.
  15. One piece of my wifes luggage!
  16. i hope you covered the plastic well.
  17. Looks like he has three options. All three put together will get him flat footed. Seat, shoes and forks. 2in (shoe) + 1.5in to 2in (seat) + .5in (forks) = 4in to 4.5in Not bad in my book and low dollar fixes too!.
  18. That first one be a Honda SuperSport 400-4. That was my first streetbike at 14 years old. It was much prettier than that one but it was a lot of fun! It taught me how to be a squid!
  19. If Sheriff Joe got him, that might me different. Dressed in pink and living in a tent.
  20. He is no longer a threat with the amount of time he was given. To bad the father had to be the end of Williams tyranny.
  21. Never been to an M&E but bring on the meat!
  22. Who needs a dealer when you get answers - and this quick too!
  23. So, could you be saying that there are three types? Front end wobble, rear end wobble and a weave (Hinge effect like being thrown around in the wind). To me it sounds like a weave from your description. When the ole lady was on the back of mine, it would take a few more MPH before it would act up. Sorry if I am sounding confused. I just need to get it straight in my head. I am hoping we can get each typed and descripted so one can better determine what they actually have too.
