Yea, I have read that yammi stopped using the YICS in 86 but I have also read that it can cause some rough idling, loss of gas mileage and some of the kick when accelerating when not there on the MKI's. I have read the Jason mod goes both ways on whether it is worth it or not. Mike, i do appreciate your help. You have helped me multiple times over the years and you have been right on the money each time. So, is there any truth into the other things that I have read?

Ok, let me start of with; I AM A COMPLETE IDIOT! I have owned this bike since 94 and have touched this assembly countless times over the years. I always thought this was a one of those sealed beam headlights. Yanno, like the kind you would put in an older car. After Yammer made his post I went down to go take a picture of it to prove it. I pulled that black rubber thing off - never have done that before. And Walla, there it is, one of those iddy biddy bulbs. I have posted about this before and I no one caught it when I mentioned I think it is the original headlight, says Made in Japan and Kyoti on it. Thinking Kyoti is a headlight manufacturer in Japan. I figured it changed to the iddy biddy bulbs 86. I did attach two pics of it together and apart for those that thought the same thing - I do think I am the ONLY ONE though. In case there is another one of me, turn the rubber cover and there it is. I have had a dumbazz grin on my face since I turned it for the first time.

Not finding what I am looking for. I went to AutoZone and Walmart. Anything close to a 9003 number are those iddy biddy bulbs. I am looking for one of those large rectangular ones. Those numbers are ranging in H6xxx and H4xxx. Since I can find some of the "H" numbers, which one is good form me? Is it still the 9003 and I cannot find it?
-
Thanks Yammer. You told me about these bulbs probably a couple years ago and I am just now finally getting around to it. Interesting how one can put things off, lol.

Is the one that snaggletooth lists in this thread correct for my bike? I still have the MKI headlight setup. http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=23185&highlight=silverstar+part+number

Yanno, that one from the pickle thing to the airbox? Mine is hard and somewhat breaking at the top and as you know, it can take 45 minutes at times to get that hose on the bottom of the airbox. So, just order another one from yammi, get hose from AutoZone that is a bit longer or is there another solution?
-
No, I really have not looked but was hoping to go out and get one local if possible. Would this be a normal part at like AutoZone? You wouldn't happen to have the part number handy? I think the one I have is original. It says Made in Japan in the lense.

Thought I would attack a few things this weekend. Vacuum test the YICS and hoses, blow out the carbs, FINALLY change out the speedo guts (got that done), fix the gas guage in the tank (tired of it being empty all the time), put on those nifty new seat screws from Rick Butler and just clean up again on the inside. Hope the speedo is somewhat correct since I had to remove the needle to change the gauge faces, The face plates were the wrong color. Polished up on the gauge lenses - lotsa finger work. My body hurts now, need some more beer! http://i17.photobucket.com/albums/b53/gigawhiskey/VR_Down1.jpg

Ride Like a Pro.. on a Venture?
GigaWhiskey replied to Seaking's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Yea, are you? When doing that in a tight circle, I tend to put my toes on the footpeg, away from the shifter. Just habit. hadn't realized it till just now. -
Ditto? Or, do we just not need to upgrade becuase we are rock solid?

The 1st gen can eat up some twisties! it is a trip when the whip slaps the cliff just above your head when your hanging off in the corner. -
Cleaning all that dust/dirt from under the seat/fairings etc.

I use Mequires Cleaner Wax on my 1st gen frame. It brings up the shine on the old paint. Heck, I use it on the painted plastic too. -
How much Vacuum?

Ok Earl, you had to just throw that out there didn't you, lol. So, how can I tell the difference visually with the diaphrams in. I would like to know what I have now. -
Well Done!

I got mine quickly after I PPed him. I have dealt with him on two seats prior, fantastic service and turnaround. I have not installed seat bolts yet but not worried. But, thanks for letting me know they worked well for you.

That's a nice Kettle with the Viper up front. That rotary is interesting. I think I had heard of that but sure haven't seen one. Nice Collection for sure! All three! Did the Kettle come with dual disc's up front and behind the forks stock? Sorry y'all, I started the hijack. But, ya gotta love a Kettle!

How 'bout some pics of that Kettle?

Looked in to getting antique plates for momma's '75. You can't actually ride it with those plates, well legally, lol.
-
I have no idea whatsoever. I was thinking about parting them together for my 85 but have not gotten around to it yet. Might go though Z1 Enterprises. Used them for momma's SS line and it worked out good.

Another Center Stand Question
GigaWhiskey replied to elmicko's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
I still takes me a couple good pushes and I use the front brake to help (helps hold it at the tipping point when I push again). I am at 5' 11 1/2" (and shrinking) and 245lbs (not shrinking) ta boot. -

Pack on some more weight and get your legs lengthened. -
Lowes has a nice one with speakers, lol. Too big for me though. I just need to mount cabinets on my garage walls. HF has them too but not SS I do not think.

I do not like tall tool boxes. It is always a pain to see what is in the top. Over time, I toss stuff up in the top and it makes it worse.
