  1. Check the VRStore. It is in the upper right hand of this site. Freebird sells them.
  2. I was up in Lake Geneva Wis. this afternoon. Very busy town. I found parking space to share with a Harley. This guy had just parked and welcomed me to share his spot, pretty cool. When I came back there was a 3rd bike, another Harley parked there. When I hit the starter nothing happened, the kill switch had been moved. This has happened to me before, ONLY when parked among Harleys! I realize it is a harmless prank and have always just passed it off as such but I have to admit it is becoming annoying to say the least. Do these knuckleheads actually think this throws anyone into an OMG what do I do mode for more than a 1/2 second or so? Or do they want every bike to share in a won't start for no apparent reason like a Harley? I have not and will not ever lower myself to retaliate in any way but once I would like to actually catch one of these A-holes in the act. I can assure you that my bike will be the last bike he ever puts his hands on. Just venting here but I find it so disrespectful for anyone to touch another guys bike I am just steamed!

    08 RSV problems?

    Yeah, what he said!
  4. The wife and I are going to be kind of bumming around Wis. that week and would like to join in if you have it on Saturday.
  5. I just put in a set of 50W halogen sealed beams in my 2008 RSV. I would think they would fit yours as well. Very bright compared to the factory 35W regular blubs. http://www.bulbamerica.com/ge-50w-h7606-par36-screw-terminals-tractor-bulb.html
  6. You can't avoid I90 and don't need to. The Dan Ryan expressway south, (90/290 & 94) is best avoided if your not familiar with the area. It runs through the south side and some pretty sketchy neighborhoods. Lakeshore drive south of the Museum of Science and Industry also can be kind of sketchy. Navy Pier is a great place to visit and also the Field Museum while your at the lake front. The Willis tower (aka Sears tower) has an observation platform that actually extends over the street with a glass floor if not faint of heart! Enjoy your stay in Chicago.
  7. I have a Diamond R backrest and do exactly what you said. I lay it down to get on and off. After time it becomes loose all on it's own so as far as loose mounting goes I would never mount anything loose! I never found any easier way of getting my leg over either.
  8. I have an F4 and I was advised to get the vented model and I would pass that along. As far as the bubble is concerned my wife says that it cut the buffeting down by 50% or better for her, she loves it. As far as tinting goes, I wear sunglasses in the daytime and do not want to have any tinting in front of me at night!
  9. Put on the 100 led from custom dynamics. The running light is brighter than my brake light used to be! Worth every penny!
  10. I purchased a NordicTrack E9.0 directly from NordicTrack. I have had it for almost 2 yrs. and have lost 50+ lbs. I have it in a location in front of a 50" TV so my daily 20 min workout is not so boring and the time passes very quickly. I highly recommend the NordicTrack for it contains many routines with auto incline and decline adjustments as well as varying pace and resistance. The elliptical is a low impact work out which is easy on the knees unlike a treadmill. Buying direct from NordicTrack on line I paid no taxes and got free shipping as well. One thing I have learned is you get what you pay for and you get back what you put into things. A low end unit may be difficult to work with and you may lose interest quickly. Good luck and I hope this helps.
  11. This was our first rally and being newbies to Venturerider as well all I can say is what a great job the committee did. We hope to be able to attend many more. Vicki and myself were so happy that even though we didn't know anyone we were welcomed so warmly by everyone. Thank you all so much. We were sorry that we had to pull out at 05:30 on Thursday without be able to say goodbye due to a death in the family. Hope to see you all again. Thanks to everyone, Gary
  12. I had a very scary moment earlier today. I was doing an oil change getting ready for the International coming up next week. I had my RSV in a floor standing wheel chock as I have used many times in the past. I had the rear wheel chocked and was laying on a piece of carpet installing the new filter. As I was giving the filter the last little umph of tightening the front wheel starting turning to the right coming out of the wheel chock. I normally have the kickstand down and blocks under it as a just in case but for some reason I cut a corner and thought it wasn't necessary this time. Well needless to say, the bike started coming down on top of me! Holy Crap! was all I could think of as this 800+ pounder was laying over. Fortunately, I was able to push away with only a red mark left on my right wrist (what hit it I have no idea) and my left arm still under the bike. The bike landed softly onto the carpet so it didn't even leave a scratch on the crash bars which saved my arm and probably my life as well. After getting my heart started again I was amazed at the fact that I was able to get the bike upright again without much problem. No damage done but what a lesson I learned. Hopefully sharing this will make others think twice before doing something that could be unsafe. And yes, I just ordered a Carbon One lift adapter. Anyone need a wheel chock?
  13. Not really caring for riding in the rain more less thunderstorms if you're going to stop find a bridge or viaduct to get under, NOT A TREE! Lee Travino was struck TWICE while taking shelter under a tree on a golf course.

    Glare

Yamaha sells a gas cap cover for $20. Plain black.
  15. What you are hearing is called after fire. This is due to a collection of unspent fuel in the hot muffler, especially after a high throttle. Stock mufflers have devices inside to counter this. I used to get a bit of after fire even with the stock mufflers while down shifting from 70 mph or so. Mine seems to after fire more cold. After it is warmed up well it is greatly reduced.
  16. I have for years been running nothing but 93 octane in every bike I have ever owned thinking that it was necessary for a performance motorcycle engine. After being educated by this wonderful forum have I switched to 87 octane. I have not noticed any performance or mileage changes in the least. I did put in a set of Iridium core plugs this year and that may be helping as well. Cold starts require less choke and warm up is at least 50% quicker along with a more responsive throttle.
  17. Mcmaster-Carr www.mcmaster.com has the most complete assortment of thread repair inserts to choose from. They offer helicoil and key locking types as well as many others. Choose which you think will best suit your application and good luck!
  18. I am looking to provide more protection for the passenger. Can anyone recommend a windshield size or brand that will reduce the buffeting for the passenger? I'm hoping that if I can make it more comfortable my wife will go on longer rides. Also, has anyone experienced any handling issues by going to a larger windshield? Thanks
  19. Welcome, your bike is a real head turner, almost as nice as my Blackcherry/Raven 2008 RSV The best accessorie I ever put on is a drivers backrest. Adds miles of comfort especially for tall guys.
  20. You were wise to replace the battery before you needed to push start. I waited too long and I can tell you it was no fun. My wife just can't push like she used to!
  21. I received the same Fedex email on my work email account. Going to the Fedex site they have a news posting about this, just as you explained. Best advice for emails of any kind.."When in doubt flush it out". These guys know that you can't go wrong if you don't play along.
  22. I was at my local Yamaha dealer yesterday picking up a few items getting ready for spring and the parts guy was telling me about late moder RSV and simular models having problems with break lines cracking and brakes going spongey. I have about 11K miles on mine and he said I should have the brake system flushed. Is this an attempt to get more service business or is it real? I would have something like that done when I need a brake job but before then? Any thoughts?
  23. I have a 2008 RSV. I was told by the dealer when I bought it that it would go away after about 2000 miles. I also read some posts to that effect as well. On mine, the wine was reduced after about 10000 miles and eliminated after installing a set of KromeWerks slip ons. The bike is well worth a little wining.
