So fast I am losing parts!!!

I know the feeling! One of mine auto-ejected itself at about 105mph. -
Ya, I figured that's what the "B" stood for. It wasn't on the front tire, so it made me wonder a bit. Thanks. Now wouldn't radials yield a better ride and handling? I've had bias tires on my trucks before and radials feel a whole lot beter.
-
Thanks so far guys. I would assume you wouldn't want to mix radials and bias ply tires on a bike just the same as a car. Now how do I know what I have on there now? The front is an Avon Venom-X 120/90-18 71H and the ear is an Avon Venom-X 140/90B16 77H. Now what part of that tells me if it's a radial or bias ply? :think:Most car tire tell ya somewhere in plain sight.

I need to put a new rear tire on my 84 1st. Gen. I currently have Avon Venom-x's on it. The front is good for quite a few more miles yet. The rear however, went way to fast. I'm an aggressive rider, (when I'm not two up anyway) but it should have lasted more than 7000 miles. Any suggestions on what to buy for a replacement? I figure I should be able to find a half way descent one for $125-$200. I need something that will last longer than the Avon did but still have plenty of grip for the high speed tail pipe scrapping curves. Any suggestions or warnings of what to stay away from?

Don't forget to use some anti-seize on those bolts before you put it all back together. -
Superbrace, my humble opinion.

I have a similar problem with my 84. At about 40mph my bars will wobble a lot till I put my hands back on the bars. That's never really never been a problem yet. But yesterday after I synced my carbs I went for a test ride. I got onto the freeway and got along side a crotch rocket. We both smiled and hit the throttles. He was behind me at about 110mph when we went into a gradual curve and my bike began to wobble so bad I though I was gonna go over. As long as I was on the straight and narrow everything was fine. After reading this thread I have some good places to start checking. Thanks for the info. guys. -
I put all the pics in order and a brief explanation of what I used and how I put it together. Enjoy! Bill

Just in case anybody is looking for a D.I.Y. 4 cylinder carburetor synchronizer, I made one the other day and it worked great. I filled it with some trans fluid and it was VERY sensitive and worked great. I put some pics of it in my gallery. The pics might be enough to tell ya how I did it. But if you have any questions, I can give ya all the details.

Anybody have a dead stator and rectifier laying around they want to get rid of cheap? I wanted to take them to a guy who says he can rewind the stator to put out more power and upgrade the rectifier to handle the extra output.

EFI Conversion
a1bummer replied to a1bummer's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
NOS would be fun on the VR. I think I would be afraid of breaking the rearend lose and fishtailing though. Or popping wheelies when you hit the button. I have those problems when draggin' down main street without the NOS. Though I do love the look on the other guys face when the front end comes off the ground when you shift into the next gear at 8000rpms.- 12 replies

EFI Conversion

I love the setup from Wild Brothers for the Vmax. Now where can I get an extra $6000? That setup on the Vmax with the NOS injection looks like the route I'm looking for. Minus the injection though. That might make it go to fast and peel off the fairing and saddlebags.:rotf:I also think the sonic boom would be kind of loud when I hit the sound barrier.- 12 replies

Has anyone in here done a EFI conversion on there 83-93 ventures? I did the MFI conversion on my 78 F100, and now it's time to think about the same on my 84 VR. Where would I start looking to find compatible throttle boddies and such?

Just a quick thought. Check the spedometer too maybe? -
I had the same problem with my right hand side mirror on my 84. After looking at the photos I ran into the garage with a needlenose visegrip and grabbed the end of the screw and it tightened right up. Thanks for the info. It was a quick and simple fix.

Has anybody in here ever replaced their bulbs with LED bulbs? The tail lights are simple to find replacement bulbs but the turn signal bulbs would have to be made at a right angle to point to the front or rear of the bike. I have seen the blade type for the instrument panel and marker lights. The marker light again would have to be made with a right angle. Any suggestions? I know the VR's are lacking in the power output department and figure I could save some wattage for my trailer and other accessories if I can swap in LED bulbs. In the mean time I'm talking to a guy who says he can rebuild the rectifier and upgrade the stator for more output. Just have to find a couple used specimens to take him so he can get started.
