  1. You have somewhat of a point there. That being so, I was referring to how the insurance companies and such have made it so tough for consumers and small business in general. They can really take the fun out of life.
  2. So simply due to lawyers and insurance companies, big business, etc., the whole country has gone to pot and is circling the giant drain that has been built by all the greedy bast*rds that, "need to make money" and could give a rat's a** what kind of damage they do to society, or to the rest of the world for that matter.
  3. 32 on my ride to school this morning.
  4. Sorry, I don't. I'm off of 210th St. I've only been here for a couple years and haven't gotten out much in the area. Except for the bars anyway:whistling:
  5. I picked up a cycle magazine the other day at the clinic and the first page it opened to had a Motul add with a 1st. Gen. in it. I looked on the cover and it's from Sept. of 89. http://webpages.charter.net/theskes/Rider%20Magazine.jpg http://webpages.charter.net/theskes/Motul%20Add%20with%201st%20Gen.jpg
  6. Thanks for the information thus for. Still waiting for a call back from his insurance company. Go figure. I gave them another call when I got home from school today and got their voice-mail yet again. Go figure, again. I'll continue to leave updates. Thanks, Bill
  7. It was snowing the beat heck here yesterday! But it's gonna have to do better than that to keep me off my 1st. gen.!
  8. Talked to both insurance companies. If I go through my company, my deductible is gonna be $1000 plus the salvage value of the bike so I can keep it. I'm waiting for a call from their company so we can set up an appointment for his adjuster to come take a look at it. I haven't been able to find any shop to give me an estimate on my bike. Either I get, "It's to old":backinmyday:, or, "we don't work on that brand":buttkick:. The local Yamaha stealer give me the "those parts have been discontinued" routine. Then I go and find them myself. What's up with that? Does that mean that their supplier doesn't stock them anymore and they don't bother looking elsewhere? Or does that mean that they truly have been discontinued, and the places I find them just has some still in stock till they run out? Either way I'm gonna take the money and keep my bike. Then go see this guy who has another 1st. Gen. that is 1 year older, but the same colors with a lot of extras, with a bad clutch and no second gear. Then do some swapping.
  9. Try http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/WTI0095P?FVSEARCH=mini+shocks&search=Go Or you can go to the local hobby store that deal in remote control vehicles. I have several different sizes out in my play room. You should be able to find something.
  10. What does a good paint job usually run on these guys? I LOVE MY 1st. GEN.:bighug:I LOVE MY 1st. GEN.
  11. What are they?
  12. Some bozo who couldn't look out for traffic as he backed out of his parking space hit my bike and knocked me over this afternoon. He cracked my trunk, scraped up my muffler and saddle bag guard, gouged my trunk and saddlebag real bad, busted the lower part of my fairing, and took some paint off the upper part of my fairing. All on the left side. I just got out of class with the guy not 10 minutes before it happened. Banged up his girlfriends car real bad too. Luckily nobody got hurt. Though I won't want to be him when his old lady finds out.:rotf:Anybody had any experience with the insurance companies with these bikes? It's an 84VR. Where do I find out what the fair value on it? My guess is that the insurance is gonna call it a total and I won't get anything near what its gonna cost for parts and a paint job. Anybody have any advice?
  13. I Like that one! I think someone who throws butts out the window should not only be charge for littering, but arson as well. What else that really ticks me off is when a car damn near kills me and then they flip me off like it was my fault.
  14. :rotf:I need not even add any more! Ya think one of those telescopic clubs would get their attention if it was taking out a window as their trying to kill one of us?
  15. Ummm... Dude! I think that might be yur shadow, er something.
  16. Well I just liked the looks of it. I kind of thought it looked more like a 1st gen than the 2nd does. I haven't taken one for a ride so I can't comment on its performance or handling. I'm sticking with my 1st gen just the same. I love my 1st gen:bighug:I love my 1st gen.

  18. Well I think the FJR1300 should have been the 2nd gen Ventures. All their missing is a trunk.
  19. It's better to be silent and thought a fool, than to speak and remove all doubt. We're out getting big heads from all the compliments we get about how nice our 1st. gens are, and from bringing home the prizes from all the bike shows.
  20. I just got a Metzler ME880 put on my bike two weeks ago at the local HD Stealership. They still have two more in stock. So far it feel mush better than the Avon I had on the rear.
  21. Had a gift certificate for the local HD stealer that I won at a bike show I entered my bike in this summer, so I went and got a ME880 Metzler put on. It feels better than the Avon I had on there. Even when the Avon was brand new. I'm supposed to get some better mileage on this one. I'll keep ya guys posted.
  22. Thanks guys for all the input. I usually say, "If it ain't broken, don't fix it too". But on the other had I also say, "Ya can pay me now or ya can pay me later". I just figured it would save me some cash if I fix the potential problem before it does go out and ruin some other things in the process. It would be cheaper to replace the thrust washer rather than replace a bent shaft and have to undercut things along with it.
  23. When second gos out, about how many miles are on the odometer? I've got 38,000 on mine and second seems to be still going strong(knock on wood). I wanted to go through and fix it before it goes out over this winter.
