What was the worst thing I ever got for Christmas? Nothing! I grew up with one of those religions where we had no Christmas, Birthdays, Halloween, Valentines day, etc... etc... etc. Talk about painting a bullseye target on a kid to get him picked on! Now days I'm happy as hell to get longjohns and wool socks.

Nobody needs to be crucified for an honest mistake. But! Thieves should be hunted down and hung from the highest limb! I'd say we need to shout out this members name from the highest mountain and let this guy know that this kind of crap will not be tolerated.

I use my trailer behind my bike all the time. Groceries, lumber yard, junk yard, camping, Menards, etc. It's aloud me to have many fun and enjoyable adVENTUREs. Besides, I would have to kick off my better half to fit everything on the bike. What fun would that be?

Anybody over buy St. Paul and Minneapolis, MN. know of anyplace that does chrome plating? I found some chrome for my first gen but some of the stuff has some pitting and a couple small scrapes on them. Don't want no ugly chrome on my bike.

What can a guy expect to pay for a set of those Jardine exhaust pipes for a first gen? Who is selling them? I did a search and haven't found a dealer with them. I'll keep looking.

I heard of a guy getting into trouble at a fast-food joint when he paid for his coffee with a $2.00 bill. Both the clerk and the manager thought he was trying to pass a counterfeit bill. He let them call the police. The guy and the cop had a good laugh and then the cop explained what was going on to the two behind the counter. I would also agree that it's not the kids fault. My generation has to deal with what our forefathers have done. I guess I would call it a trickle effect. We can't expect the younger generations to be smart if we don't give them a proper education. The way I see it, there's a difference between stupid and uneducated.

:rotf:I like that one! Sounds like a good idea. Or maybe we could just simply start some sort of system, where you have to reach a certain IQ or education level before you are aloud to have children.

Custom Built Exhaust Collector
a1bummer replied to MasterGuns's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
What did it cost? I sent an e-mail to Mark's last week and I haven't heard back from him yet. -
I had that problem with my 84 this summer. Only when I got on the throttle though. Then I realized I forgot to tighten my exhaust pipe clamps ofter I had them off. Problem went away after I tightened them.I think my carbs still some leaning out though.

Thanks guys. I had this insurance company on the horn a few minutes ago. She said this letter only applies to the leg. We agreed on an amount for the bike and she said she was going to cut a check right then and there. I told her i would send this letter back after i have gotten the check for the bike and made sure it has cleared. Now I just have to call this guy I know back about another 1st gen that is the same color that has no second gear and a few other issues. It also has alot of extra chrome. Then I'll just have to do some parts swapping. Then keep an eye out for misc. parts here and there to put that one in good working order.

:buttkick:I posted a few weeks ago about a guy backing out off a parking space and hitting me. There is over $3000 dollars worth of damage to my bike, and my right leg got beat up a bit. My leg still has some bruising, and a lump that is still tender to the tough. This happened on 10/31/07. They offered me $750 for the banged up leg, and I agreed to that. Now I got this in the mail yesterday. I may not be the smartest guy in the world, but this is very insulting. Do all of you read this the same way I do? If I sign this and send it back. They will give me $750 for the whole deal and no more. Not just for the banged up leg, but for the damage to my bike as well? I somehow get the feeling they think I'm really dumb. http://webpages.charter.net/theskes/Ridiculous%20offer%20from%20Bristol%20West%20Insurance.BMP

Just curious. I have no intention of changing carbs. though that total engine management with the fuel injection would be nice. I've heard of people putting custom intakes and Holley's on these engines before. I think it may have popped up on here a couple time too. I really wouldn't see the point if the engine couldn't make use of the extra flow.

Does anybody know how many CFM that these BDS 34x4 Mikuni carbs on our bikes put out. How about a simple formula to figure it out? pi*(bore/2)^2*stroke*number of cycinders*max rpm's/3456 = CFM needed or, pi x (2.99/2)^2 x 2.60 x 4 x 8500/3456 = 180CFM needed.

:rotf:Nope, I didn't take it. I said I would think about it. They said that was the offer if I didn't go to the doctor. I wonder what would happen if I DID go to the doctor about it. It's been just over a week now and it's still pretty black and blue. Still has a lump and is still tender to the touch. Not as tender as a couple days ago but it still smarts. Putting on my socks and boots in the morning makes it hurt for a while.

We buy to many dang toys for our kids anyway! What if we got them some sponges so they could wash our bikes instead?

Agreed:thumbsup2:

Insurance adjuster is supposed to finally show up in the morning to take a look at the damage. Gonna match the salvage price and keep her. What do ya suppose salvage value might be? They also offered me $750 for the big bruise and bump on my leg as a settlement. I have no idea if that's even a fair deal or not. Any advice?
