Poor Man's Brake lamp and turn signal upgrade
a1bummer replied to KiteSquid's topic in Poor Man Tips and Fixes
Sure can. Can't right now though. Gotta clean up some of my messes around here for the kids b-day party later. Wouldn't want the in-laws knowing I'm such a messy nerd. Oh wait! I think they may already know. Oh well. -
Maybe something like The Gumball Rally would be fun!?

I got a clutch assembly off ebay a few days ago. But due to the crappy way it was packed in the box, it was broken when I got it. Just as well i guess seeing as that the basket is extremely worn and I wouldn't use it anyway. Seller said, "Part was 100% Operable when removed With no slippage while operating". It may have still been operable, but it's junk. Kind of tough to see that kind of stuff from a picture. It can be seen plain as day just by taking a quick look at it. I sent an e-mail to the seller but still haven't received a response back yet.Go figure! Luckily I've been using a credit card for all ebay transactions after I got screwed by another seller a couple years back. None of the ebay, paypal, or any of the other, "buyer protection", was of any use what so ever. In the end, the seller had my money, and I had junk I couldn't use and lost my 100% positive feedback. Ever since I've been using the credit card and have this, "buyer beware", feeling. Almost forgot to ask, has anybody used this type of clutch on their first gen.? Item number: 330308236017 Update: The seller got back to me and is willing to give me a full refund including shipping and return shipping.

Poor Man's Brake lamp and turn signal upgrade

I wish! But I can build what I want for less than those ready made setups cost. I also know that these will be unique. -
That would be SWEET!!! Is there anywhere in the US that an ATV is legal to drive on the roads? Besides to and from the trail. I know some small town allow them anywhere in town but I'd like to see them to be legalized for any road.

Custom LED turn signal update
a1bummer replied to a1bummer's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
Ya I'm getting a bit antsy to get mine out of the garage. The snow it almost all gone. It's gotta get a we bit warmer out though. -
Well I finally got my rear LED turn signals done. Now I got to get started with the front turn signals. Each rear turn signal has 20 ultra high flux LED's in them. The front signals will have about 25 of the same LED's in them. The rear stop/tail light will have 72 LED's in it. And so far there are 8 rear, 4 front, and 2 LED marker lights. That makes 176 LED's total. I attached a couple quick videos. One of the finished LED circuit board and another with the circuit board installed in the turn signal housing. I'll keep ya posted when I get the frond signals done and get all of them on the bike.

I bet that thing turns a few heads!

Don't worry, I won't hold it against ya! I still hear that from time to time. I've been putting my batteries on bare concrete ever since I first heard of it just to prove to others that it's not really gonna drain it. First time I heard of the submarine thing... I'm gonna have to read up on it just to satisfy my curiosity. Thanx, Bill

I bring all my batteries in and put them in the basement for the winter. Doesn't matter what they're in, if it's not getting used, it's coming in. I alternate with the battery tender on them all.

Sometimes a library card comes in real handy too. You can find almost anything in their electronic databases. Unfortunately a lot of the info is the same as what you might find in a Chilton book. Haynes make a better manual. JMHO.

Herby!!! And all the Mel Brooks movies. You can't get away with that kind of humor these days! I wonder why?

Ummm... 40 degree Celsius = 104 degree Fahrenheit & -40 degree Celsius = -40 degree Fahrenheit

To all the former smokers... THANK YOU!

The brass monkey still doesn't want to go back out on the porch. It got so cold here last night that a couple water pipes running along the outside wall just above the foundation froze. Schools were canceled today, and a lot are already canceled for tomorrow. What a bunch of wusses! It's only supposed to get down to -25 tonight.

Carb rebuilding time?
a1bummer replied to a1bummer's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
WOW! Great info. I read through the manual last night a bit. Crappy pictures and vague instructions. Now that I've read through your post, I think I understand better. Thanks, Bill -
I used to have one, until my cousins "borrowed" it anyway. I used it alot in my wrecker a while back during mudbogs and demolition derbies. Even with duel 1100 cca batteries I would sometimes have a hard start if I let it sit to long. I didn't get a chance to see just how much current it was actually drawing before my cousins "borrowed" it. I did come in handy on a trip through Arizona one year. The car was never off long enough to make a difference. Bill

I checked the diaphragms this summer to see if they might have anything to do with it. There weren't any tamper proof screws. They appeared to be in good condition. I held them up to a 100 watt bulb to check for holes and cracks, and didn't see any.
