a1bummer replied to a1bummer's topic in Poor Man Tips and Fixes
No I didn't try the bigger tubes at the bottom yet. When I do, I'll let ya know how it worked. The info somehow got attached in the 4th post. I must have had a brain fart that day.- 35 replies

My brother was supposed to go camping up to Madeline Island with us over the 4th of July weekend. I had a feeling right from the start all those months ago that he probably wasn't gonna take it seriously. We're heading out on the 2nd and staying at the Copper Falls State Park the night of the 2nd & 3rd. Then heading up to Madeline Island to stay at the Big Bay State Park the night of the 4th & 5th. We already have the camping spots paid for. Anybody wanna join us? I also have a huge tent with queen sized air mattresses.

How do you suppose mixing a ME880 on the front with a Venom x on the rear would make a bike feel? Sometimes mine feels like jello in the rear. I checked the rear wheel and I can feel a tiny bit of play. I'm guessing I shouldn't feel any. So I ordered some rear wheel bearings & seals. I'll see how it feel after that. I also wondered if that may be why I only got 6000 miles out of the rear ME880. Hoping to have them in before the 2nd.

I figured as much. I believed that about as much as I believe what politicians are telling me.

Ya they're driving me nuts! Less drainage today. It's mostly clear stuff now. Getting the sponges taken out tomorrow. They got me taking Clindamycin and a liquid Hydrocodone. The Hydrocodone tastes NASTY! I just wanna blow my nose so bad! Thanks guys, Bil

Hopefully I will be able to smell like a normal person. But then, what if I find out I already smell?

I just got done doing similar. I used a rear window defrost relay with timer so it only comes on for ten minutes. If I hit it again right away it comes on for another five. I just spliced it to the blue wire going to the fan. I also changed the thermostat and flushed out the old coolant and put in some new stuff and replaced my radiator cap. That alone made quite a bit of difference. The other day it was in the mid 80's and with the fan on it only went to just over midway on the gauge.

I only got 6000 miles on my ME880. I was even treating it nicely.

All seems to have went well with the septoplasty. Nose is quite swollen, but no black eyes or anything like I thought I would. Constant drainage sucks. Painkillers taste AWFUL! Go back in on Thursday to get these sponges out. Then I go back on the 7th. to get the stents taken out. I hope everything feels better for the 4th. of July weekends camping trip up to Madeline Island.

Thanks for the compliments. I get accused of being anal a lot! But hey, It works for me. And then I get to say, "Of course I don't look busy, I did it right the first time". I still can't help but wonder how close this gets me to a pro. tool.- 35 replies

I usually get all my LEDs from superbrightleds as well whenever I build my gadgets.

I would love to come. I missed The other MD due to previous commitments, (That's my story and I'm sticking to it). Labor day weekend and the first half of July would suck for me. But if I can make it, I would like to see some carb diaphragm changes and slide needle mods. I haven't checked my diaphragms lately, but I would like to do the needle mod and then a proper sync. I also have an occasional cough when cold I haven't gotten around to fixing yet. Thanks. Bill

In an earlier thread, some of you guys gave me the idea to use a rear window defroster relay/timer for a manual over ride on the cooling fan on my scoot. Well, got it done. It works perfectly. On for 10 minutes then goes off by itself. I got rid of the OEM stereo and replaced it with a Pioneer CD stereo a while back. I left the mute and seek switches on the handle bars thinking I might have a use for them later. I modified the switch by taking out the mute switch and replacing it with an amber lens. I had to run a fourth wire to the switch to light the bulb that I took out of the relay. So the seek switch became the fan switch and the mute became the indicator light. I don't remember what kind of car I took the relay out of, but I think it was a mid to late 80's Lumina. You can see the number on the relay in the picture if you need it for reference later. At the same time I also replaced the thermostat and flushed out the old coolent and replaced it with some new stuff. Also the radiator cap didn't look so swell so I replaced it with an extra one I had on hand. The local auto dealer here is an Auto Value store, so the Napa number (156) wasn't much help. On another thread that some one else posted, another member posted a picture of the box that he got his thermoatat in from Napa. Along with the number 156, there was also a number 33708. We were able to use that number as a cross reference. We founs a Stant #13758 that fit perfectly. It was also a 180* thermostst same as the OEM stat.

Okay... stupid question... what's a mole? Is that another name for the emblems? And ... isn't PETA a type of bread? -
Need advice on potential repair

FYI. Last year I thought I had damaged my bottom end. Of my engine that is! I swapped out the engine and after about a half tank, I started hearing that noise again. I turned out to be the exhaust collector. Opened it up and tore out the loose baffle and the rest of the innards, welded it back together. No more noise. If ya gotta take the engine out, you gotta take the collector off anyway. I would inspect that just to make sure it isn't what's making the noise. -

Why wouldn't you want to remove the carbon deposits? Carbon deposits restrict airflow. Kind of like how cholesterol deposits in the arteries restricts blood flow. If you restrict blood flow to the heart, it can't operate as efficiently. If you restrict the air flow to the engine, it also doesn't perform as efficiently.- 13 replies

Would you spend $1.88 to save your life?
a1bummer replied to frogmaster's topic in Safety and Education
I agree. I feel better relying on myself rather than some fancy doo-dad. But one day after checking my mirror, I did a check over my right shoulder as I started slowly moving to the right of my lane. My heart skipped a beat when I saw something from the corner of my eye! It turned out to be the sleeping bag I had strapped to the trunk rack. -
LOL! What he said!

For real? Wish I could do that!

Had both knees scanned last Wednesday. Results show I have a degenerative joint disease. I was hoping it was something they could fix. Oh well I hope my sinus surgery goes better on the 22nd.

A fresh fix for floppy lower vents

I like it! Now what if we moved the controls forward? Does it run any cooler in city driving, etc.?
