  1. Here in the Wi. Motorcyclists' Handbook, (http://www.dot.wisconsin.gov/drivers/docs/cycle-handbook.pdf on page 8 & 9), it states, When facing a red light, you may proceed CAUTIOUSLY through the intersection when the light is still red if ALL of the following conditions are present: You reasonably believe the signal is vehicle activated (if the signal is timed, you may not proceed through a red light no matter how long it takes to change to green); No other vehicles are present to activate the signal; You have stopped at the signal for at least 45 seconds; and,You yield right-of-way to vehicles proceeding through on a green signal and to pedestrians and bicycles in the crosswalk or intersection.
  2. We just want to, "Rob Peter to pay Paul", as my Dad & Grandma always put it.
  3. Nope! Mine didn't fit.
  4. It all boils down to simple physics. If you don't understand the simple laws of physics, then your opinion doesn't mean a whole hill of beans to me. Sorry if that sounds like an insult to some of you, it's not ment to be. As long as the safety gear does it's job and you can survive the crash, the rest doesn't matter. This goes for ANY vehicle. It doesn't matter if you drive the safest vehicle on the planet, there is always some jackass on a cellphone, smoking a cigarette, eating McDonalds, Driving with their knees, while trying to discipline the kids in the back who should be buckled into car seats, waiting to run you down.
  5. Do you also dress in the basement?
  6. Makes me wonder just how many times I could have gotten run over as a kid on my bike. Things were a lot different then. I could ride for miles and not see a house. Now I see a house every 1/4 mile at least. I did something similar on my mini-bike to the neighbor lady. When I heard the screeching of the tires on that short bus she drove for work, I looked over and found out what a deer feels like just before it gets turned into road pizza. But I think it scared the crap out of her even more.
  7. Did he wear one when he, "jumped the shark"?
  8. I would try to stay away from anything with Vista on it. I liked where they were going with it, but what they ended up with was a tragedy. To many driver, networking, etc. issues. Also, with some manufactures, if it has Vista installed on it when you buy it, and you want to roll back to XP, you may void your warranty by doing so. I had Vista on my Acer when I bought it. I had some issues with my networking. I called Acer support and they told me it was a Microsoft problem and I had to call them. I called Microsoft and they knew exactly what the problem was. I was then told that my version of Vista was a OEM version and that it would cost me $86 for thier help. I told them to go to hell. I later found it was an Acer software issue.
  9. Do ya think the "Fonz" would do something like that?
  10. Hey Randya, You said, "I replaced the .123 thick washer on the needle with three #4 washers that came to about .093." I assume your talking inches, right? I picked up some nylon spacers the other day at the hardware store for $.09 a piece. They measured 1.62mm (0.064"), +/- 0.01mm. When I measured the stock washers they were 2.5mm (0.098"), +/- 0.01mm. That's just 0.005" diff between my start and your end. I also check the stock washers on a set of carbs from an 83 I had handy. Again, the same. Now I'm wondering why the big diff between yours and mine. I went ahead and swapped them even though I felt the new shims seemed to be to thin. It dropped my idle quite a bit, (to 500-600 rpm's). I turned up the idle screw quite a ways and am still not where I want to be, (1100 rpm's). plus there is a bit of hesitation I don't like. So 1.62mm is obviously way to thin. Now I'm gonna go add another 0.53mm washer, (which will bring it to 2.15mm, (0.085")), to my shims and see what happens then. OK! I just measured the little nub on the stock washer and came up with 3.08mm (.1215"). I was measuring just the flat area. Now that I think about it, I could just cut off the nub on the stock washers to bring them down to 2.5mm.
  11. Yup! I agree with these guys. Sounds like your good to me. Even in the 70* - 80* weather, my 84 was running a lot hotter than I liked, so I put in a new stat, new/used radiator cap (the seal had blisters), & flushed out the old coolant and put in some new stuff. That alone made quite a difference. Now it runs where you describe. At the same time I also did the manual override mod to the fan. I didn't just stick a toggle switch on it though. I used a rear window defroster relay/timer along with the momentary switch that used to be the seek button for the stereo. I swapped out the stock stereo for a CD stereo last spring, and it wasn't being used anymore. I also took out the mute switch and put an amber lens and the bulb out of the relay to indicate when the fan was on. That setup works pretty good. When I hit the button in traffic, it comes on for ~10 minutes, hit it again and it comes on for another ~5 minutes. If you need a new stat, there is a Napa #156 and on the Napa box was a #33708 that I was able to cross reference to a Stant #13758 at my local auto parts dealer. A stat at the MC stealer was ~$30 and at the auto parts dealer it was ~$7. All are 180* stats. If you want any help with a mod like this, I can give ya the info ya need.
  12. I do have friends in and East of Ladysmith. One of which I've known since the 6th grade. But the last time I called he didn't call me back. The other of which, our weekends NEVER line up.
  13. I found the tubes and rubber plugs at Axman's Surplus in St. Paul.
