  1. I've quit subscribing to all the mags I used to get too. There were getting to be way to many ads. I did a count of all the advertisements in the mags I had and at 40% - 50% of the pages were all ads.
  2. SERVES HER RIGHT!
  3. Seeing as how it's now illegal to drive and talk on a cell phone here in WI. I wonder just how illegal it would be to use a gadget like that on the roads? But ya, I'm sure they're illegal anyway. But just out of curiosity, I'll have to check those out now that you mention it. Now that I think a bit more about it, what would be the point? If I was to jam all the cell phones then the people might be paying even less attention to others around them when they're trying to redial and trying to figure out why they just lost signal. But then one of them would still come in handy in the movie theaters and during dinner time.
  4. They look like a great idea. Now if only they could make one that shuts down cell phones too:Cool_cool36:.
  5. I've been looking for a drivers backrest, camshaft cap (can't remember which though), and a fuel petcock.
  6. Over the top, definitely. Paper towels too. I even put them on the "right" way when i got to someone's house and they have them put on the "wrong" way. FREEBIRD! Nice video. Made me laugh. I have to show that to my better half. But still, you appear to have way to much time on your hands!
  7. Maybe you owe that delivery person a bigger tip than you think?
  8. I agree. So what do you suppose would happen if a person refused to pay the tip that the business added to their bill for them? gra⋅tu⋅i⋅ty 1. a gift of money, over and above payment due for service, as to a waiter or bellhop; tip. 2. something given without claim or demand. Oh! I would have also given a tip to the delivery person. I'm assuming it wasn't their decision to add a delivery charge. If it would have been the OWNER delivering the pizza, NO TIP!
  9. I think for that price... I can live without the one from Kuryakyn. I do like the one from Signal Dynamics however. A very simple and uncluttered setup. It's also at a much more reasonable price. Do the 2nd gens NOT have a voltmeter?
  10. Ditto! I've used the same resources as well. The only things I had to do is weed out the people who "think" they know what they're talking about and the people who don't, or can't answer your question, and then tell you what you should do instead. In which case, they shouldn't have posted a response in the first place. I used to have a shop and any of that info was right at hand for me. But its been so long since I was in the business that I couldn't tell ya anymore. Now days, I just do it as a hobby. Much less pressure this way. Good Luck, Bill
  11. If your 19 years old, your not a kid! Sweet story though. What more can you ask for than to be able to get out and experience life?
  12. Just out of curiosity... has anyone seen a PG movie lately? I have! And I haven't seen anything worse here than anything I've seen in a PG movie. Yet I still keep seeing people whining about others not following the PG rating rule, but won't provide any info on just exactly what the offense was to back up their arguments. In the real world, if you don't have any evidence to back up your claim, you don't have a case.
  13. Sometimes it really annoys me when farmers get manure and/or mud all over the roads that could cause a bike to skid out of control if you don't see it coming too. But then on the other hand, some things just can't be avoided. I do live in Wisconsin after all. "The land of cow sh*t and beer farts":duck:
  14. I smell hat your stepping in. It seems like all us do-it-yourselfers are having a more and more difficult time finding what we need locally to get our stuff done. And as fa as finding someone behind the counter who has a friendly face or knows what their doing, that seems to be getting few and far between as well. More and more of my business is going to the internet. But I hate all that waiting. Usually if I'm in the middle of doing a job and need something, I need it right now, not two or three days. Don't get me started with how much I hate Wally World, Radio Shack, and Menards!
  15. Thanks for your input guys & gals.
  16. Here in Thorp, WI. it's getting harder to get out and ride. I rode a couple days last week though. I don't own any of those fancy heated clothes and accessories so this week it's been a wee bit nipply to ride comfortably for me. The latest I've been able to ride was a couple years ago on January 5th. The earliest I've been able to get out and ride was also a couple years ago on Easter weekend. That's when I rode through the cold, snow, sleet, and rain down to Diamond, MO. My Mom ended up in the hospital with heart problems and I needed to go see her.
  17. Just out of curiosity... How many people in here might not like it if a restaurant put alcohol in or on your food without your knowledge? I know mos,t if not all the alcohol, would evaporate. But there would still be the flavor left behind. I'm just concerned about the alcoholics who might not want it. I know some who won't even have an N/A beer because there is still about .05% alcohol in it. And there is also some who feel that if they got a taste of it in their food might fear a relapse. Does anybody agree with my assumptions? The reason I ask is because a friend of mine just opened a Bar & Grill a couple weeks ago and one of the cooks insists on putting beer on the burgers and using it to saute the fried onions and such. I love beer... with my burger, but not on it. Thanks for any input, Bill
  18. Nicely put! Air is a fluid after all. Most of us just don't think of it that way. And to add another little known fact. There is no such thing as centrifugal force either. Now try to wrap your head around that one. Oh ya, those thermometers can be found at the local pet stores, and cheaper also.
  19. How about simply cutting off the end of the sidestand and cutting the end off a doner sidestand but leaving the botton end you cut off a bit longer so it can be welded to the existing sidestand? With a good weld and a good cleanup, after repainting, nobody will be the wiser.
  20. Have you seen these? http://www.wildbros.com/EFI.html Expensive, but they sure do look nice. I don't think that if I put that kind of dough into my bike for that, that I'd be to get that for the whole bike.
  21. The laws of physics makes this impossible. Also not true. Footsiebiker is correct. It's all simple physics. The more contact between the road surface and the tire, the more traction. Softer compound tires have more contact with the road surface because they can squish themselves into the tiny cracks and pits in the road surface where a harder compound can't. Adding more weight forces a tire to do the same. But adding more weight will affect inertial forces that may add other problems.
  22. I use Dawn. It doesn't matter if it strips off the wax to me because I always wax it every time I wash it. Give it a good rinse first to get the loose grit off so it doesn't act like sand paper. Then a good scrubbing with everything off that I can get off. Then scrub everything I could get off. Then use armor all on all the vinyl and unpainted black plastic and sidewalls. Then wax all the paint. Then polish the chrome and rims.
  23. The last wing I rode was an 85. I didn't have any problems with the thing except for how it handled. When I wanted to make a lane change or take a corner, I really had to work at it. My venture makes it feel so natural to do all that. I don't have to even think about maneuvering it. It just does it! Kind of like I'm not riding it, but I'm a part of it. I haven't ridden any wings any newer, so I can't comment on them. But I think that if I had no choice and had to give up the VR for a wing, I'd feel as though I had been neutered.
  24. Thanks. Even though I knew some of that stuff already, it was some interesting info. I did learn some new stuff though. Being a tech-head helps. I was just thinking of trying radials the next time I have to put a new set of tires on. I know how a car can feel with bias or radials. Or even how hairy it can be if you mix the two on the same vehicle. I did that on my 69 F100. I had radials on the front and great big bias tires on the back. You could REALLY feel the difference in a heavy rain or in the winter. I just wasn't sure if any of the same things applied to a bike.
  25. Is there any advantage, or disadvantage for that matter, to one over the other? I've been looking a little bit on the net and forums, but they don't go into any specifics. I'm assuming radials would handle better. Am I wrong? Or is it simply a matter of personal preference? Thanks, Bill
