1. Yup! I've seen plenty of insurance fraud myself. All these jackass' take advantage of insurance companies. Insurance companies take it back from their customers. Either way, the insurance companies come out ahead in the long run. Otherwise I kind of doubt they could stay in business for very long. I guess it's the good guys who end up taking it up the behind. I also have a problem with they way insurance companies and many other types of businesses for that matter, decide on what they're going to charge/treat you. Things that if it was anybody else, would be considered discrimination. Most of which people have absolutely no control over. For this, they get penalized. I guess this is only one of the many things that are screwed up with society. I guess about the only thing I can do about it is to be the best person I can possibly be and hope it rubs of onto someone else.
2. Well this sheds a little light on the subject. http://www.hamilton-consulting.com/updates/docs/2009-11-Wisconsin-Budget-Insurance-Provisions.pdf I see only about two things changed are going to change on my current policy according to this. I still don't see how they justify a 48% increase. Will crying help?
3. LOL. I assume the difference between yours and mine is where I live, etc.. I guess more to what I was thinking was how my insurance just keeps going up. For all my vehicles. No accidents, no tickets, no violations, etc.. As I was growing up I was always told that if I was good I would be rewarded. My parents and friends parents premiums always went down the longer they went without any issues. Aside from the usual inflation hikes anyway. These days I do the same and my premiums just keep going up. I don't get it. My other half has Progressive on her car and her premiums went up just because her daughter got her license. She has her own car, (which is also insured through Progressive), and she doesn't drive her Mom's car at all. We told Progressive that, but it didn't matter. I don't understand what one persons vehicle or insurance has to do with the others when neither person has anything to do with the other persons vehicle. But on a lighter note. I got a quote from Progressive for my bike that will be less than what my current insurer can do. If I reduce it to comprehensive for the 5-6 months that it's parked for the winter, my premium should be closer to the $161.00 I paid last year for my current coverage. So YES, it most definitely does pay to shop around. In the mean time, I'm gonna try to figure out what this new "Budget Bill" is all about.
4. Has anybody else here in WI. had their insurance go up? Mine went up more than 48%. I've never had a claim or violation. They gave several reasons that may have resulted in the increase. One of which was thew passage of a 2009-2010 WI. Budget Bill, effective 11/1/09. anybody hear of that one? As far as I knew, there weren't gonna be any changes until this July when insurance is going to be mandatory. I scanned my letter and attached it to see what you guys think. Is my premium still lower, or is it time to start looking for a new carrier? Keep in mind this is for a full year.
5. Wouldn't the VIN, (JYAVP04E7XA002318), tell us what it is for sure? Do they have a "Car Facts" for motorcycles? Every site I go to wants $35-$40 to look. But none of them say if they do cycles. I'm obviously not a Gen2 expert. But I can look up "Yamaha 1999 Royal Star Venture Cruiser /Touring 1300cc" and see that it's not all there. And I have no idea what its worth.
6. I see they're going for $7.99 a piece. I wonder how accurate they are,(+/-). Dial reads 0 to 30 in-Hg. So 0.6 bar = 17.717 989 843 in-Hg [0 °C] = 8.702 264 280 4 psi.
7. That's about it. And there's plenty of religion here, so I don't know why politics are a problem.
8. Me also!

10. I know a while back here, someone had some good knowledge as to what the letters mean in the cycle names. As in XVZ1200DL, GS550L, etc.. I can't find it right now, but if someone knows the thread, can you give me a link to it please? I have an 81 Suzuki GS550L and am curious what the differences between the GS550 and it, and others might be. I'm trying to get it to turn over but when I hit the start button it does nothing. I don't want to be looking at a wiring diagram from a GS550 or GS550LX if it is going to be different than the GS550L. I'm guessing they would be similar enough. But I've been wrong from time to time. Thanks, Bill
11. Too funny! Helmets should be a "personal" choice, not law.
12. 0.6 bar = 8.7psi Thanks
13. How much vacuum do these engines pull?
14. That did go through my head for a second too.
15. I don't agree with the whole random urine testing at work thing, but I do agree about the welfare crap. I wrecked both knees at work a few years ago and wasn't able to do the same kinds of manual labor have been doing my entire life. I've been going to school so I can get back to work in a field that doesn't interfere with all my restrictions. And there are a ton of them. I am now permanently partially disabled because of the injuries. I've also had other debilitating health problems and neurological disabilities my entire life. I was turned down for temporary disability because I was going to school. I was told that going to school was the same as maintaining a job. So therefore I was not disabled. But then I always see people who are fat and lazy, alcohol & drug addicted, Bi-polar, had some sort of mental breakdown, etc., etc., etc. These people get to live off the working folks! Hell I can only afford half of the meds I'm supposed to be taking. If I cut back any farther, I could die! But heck, have a bunch of illegitimate kids, stay drunk, eat to much, or just be some sort of lazy lowlife, and have everything handed to you on a platter. I know this may offend someone. I'm not ripping anybody. I'm just making some observations and wondering, "WHY"?
16. My vent windows on my old Ford can have the same affect when I turn them all the way around as far as they would go. Except it's the passenger who gets nailed with the bugs. Especially during junebug season. I do it to my brother now and then. It was funny till he figured out what I was doing!
17. So wouldn't wearing a full-face helmet be just as illegal then?
18. I don't know what YOUR complaining about!
19. I just saw those today. I was wondering if anybody here had one and how they liked it. I watched their video on putting it on a Goldwing. How'd it go for you? I sent them an e-mail this morning and got a reply back pretty quickly about if they could match my seat colors. They said they should be able to get it close and they could send me some samples. 26 years is sure to have some affect on the colors.
20. Thanks guys. So it's the "Ventureline" drivers backrest itself that's the same from 83-93, but the mounting hardware that fits 83-85 or 86-93 then. Does the "Markland" hardware fit 83-93 then? Or do we run into the same problem?
21. So would this be the Markland or the Ventureline? This is the one I had but let go.
22. Well that explains why I saw that setup on the 83 I picked up for parts. But I was referring to when people eliminate those hoses all together and install a small breather/filter and let the case vent to atmospheric pressure. I was having a small problem with the oil inside the air box, so when I redo things in the spring I'll do it like it says to in that PDF. I didn't however have a problem with leaks elsewhere till I did the venting to atmospheric pressure mod and capped off the orifices on the air box. Either it was a coincidence, or the leak was due to the lack of a negative pressure inside the case.
23. Really?
24. After you have done the crankcase vent mod, have any of you then had any problems with oil leaks or going through more oil? I have done the mod to my 84 and got a very slow leak afterwords. I also put a vacuum cap over the orifice that the PCV valve went to on the air cleaner, which then mad it sound as if a tribble was stuck in my air box. I'm guessing the air was blowing over the orifice on the inside of the air box making it whistle a bit. Kind of like blowing across the top of an empty rifle shell. I'm gonna undo the little mod this spring and see if things change. PCV = Positive Crank Ventilation. When installed it creates a slight negative pressure, (vacuum), in the crankcase. So if there happens to be a small leak somewhere or a worn seal, the negative pressure won't let the oil leak out. If the PCV valve is eliminated, the result may be a positive pressure inside the crankcase as the engine warms up, and due to blow by. Which then might cause a seal or gasket to weep a bit of oil that might not have done so before. I tried this on my 78 F100 once just to test my theory. The results confirmed my suspicions. Any thoughts?
25. If I remember right, the drivers backrest itself is the same for the MKI & MKII. It's just the mounting hardware that's different. If I'd of known that when I had a MKII backrest and hardware, I wouldn't of let it go. I later got an 83 for a parts bike after getting knocked down in a parking lot my a car backing out oh a parking space that had the mounting hardware, but not the backrest. So if you find a drivers backrest off a MKII cheap, jump on it and be patient. You might find the mounting hardware later. I sold that backrest to someone here nice and cheap too. I HOPE YOUR HAPPY! LOL!
