I always wave using the peace sign. When you guys talk about who does/doesn't like to wave back, I really haven't noticed any difference when it comes to what they ride. But it does seem that I get the fewest waves back on Sundays. My theory is that maybe the weekend is over any they're heading home and are depressed that they have to go to work in the morning. Bill

Here's what some others have to say about it. LOL! http://www.diet-blog.com/07/diet_water.php

Thanks Ken, that worked nice and slick. Just the way it should be. I also tried that Mapsource from Garmin, but it doesn't show any of the back roads on the map, just the main roads and highways. Which didn't make any sense to me. Bill

When you put your mp3's onto the SD card, you can't put them into any folders. If you have them in a "music" folder or the like, the Garmin won't see the mp3 files. I'm giving that Tyre software a try. Thanks for the link. Bill

Even as much as I keep saying, "NO MORE PETS"! I'd have done the same. And hopefully I could find it a good home. Or maybe it would grow on me and I couldn't part with it. Who knows for sure until your in that position?

Hi Guys, I've been trying to put some custom routes into my nuvi 765T. I can do it by scrolling through the GPS itself and reordering the points manually, but that takes forever on the small screen. Especially with my big fingers! So I tried using Mapquest to put my custom routes into it. Selecting and/or editing my route on Mapquest works great. But when I "Send" the custom route to my GPS, it comes out as the route the GPS selects for me and NOT the route I laid out using Mapquest. I'm using Firefox and even added the "Garmin Communicator Plugin" to my browser, but no luck. Anybody here know a simple or easier way to get my custom routes into my GPS? Software, website, etc. Thanks, Bill

Major Plastic Work
a1bummer replied to elmicko's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
I 2nd that! I bought a small kit an I used it on anything I could find. It lasted me almost 3 years. This time around I bought the large black kit. So I'll be doing similar winter myself. I just cover the painted side with clear packing tape as described in the included video, grind the inside if the cracks with my dremel and a small round bit. Then apply the Plastex. -
And if you have a poor/week immune system, it doesn't bother you. Like me!

So Ken, did you get an estimate for the damages yet? Just curious. I think that if it was me, I'd call the county where it happened and at least ask them to pay my deductible. If they had a problem with that, then I might think of throwing the "S" word at them. Just my . I marked the location on my GPS if you need it. Hope you didn't feel to sore these past couple of days. How's this? We'll just have to figure out the date for sure. I just picked the second weekend of October again. Bill http://www.ezticker.com/ticker/1838/2189/20111006/Leaf+Lookers+Run/ticker.png

We made it back a little while ago as well. 636 miles on the odometer for us over the weekend. It's been a while since I've put on that kind of mileage. We had a GRRRRRRRRREAT time! It was awesome to finally meet some of the members of the wonderful forum. Jeannie, IH Truck Guy, Cupcake, & I all made a detour on our way home and stopped in Durand for a drink and a bite to eat. Then Jeannie & I showed the other two the back roads back to their house and we got the tour of their new home. Now to find a "ticker"! Only 360ish days left until the next Leaf Looker Run!

AccuWeather is giving me a better outlook on the weather in Readstown for next weekend. Jeannie got herself a good pair of longjohns for the ride just in case the weather gets cool. Looks like it will be a nice ride and she won't be needing them. I'll get a few extra pounds of ground beef and brats to share from my favorite meat market. I'll also bring my tripod grill and some miscellaneous cookware. I'll also try to grab some condiments, onions, cheese, etc. Maybe I can go dig up a root of my horseradish and grind up some fresh horseradish? I'll have to start getting the trailer ready a couple days early so I don't forget everything trying to get it together at the lase minute. As it is I have to work until 3pm on Thursday and Jeannie and I won't be getting down there until later. It will be a 2.5 hour ride or so for us and it takes me about 50 minutes to get home. So I'm thinking it'll be somewhere between 7 and 8 when we get there. See ya all there, Bill

Just in case anybodies interested, there's still room for two more in our cabin. I guess they sleep four and there's only two of us.

DOWN WITH CONFORMITY! Everybody has a different idea of what is ethical or moral. Yet we always have someone trying to force THEIR idea of what is ethical or moral onto everyone else. We as a people need to get over ourselves. "Live and let live". "Each to his own". Yet we must not forget the golden rule. Do onto others as you would have done onto yourself. I was gonna go on a group ride this summer for a charity. But they insisted that everyone has to wear a helmet. So I didn't join their little ride. It should be MY choice, not THEIRS! I myself can get squirly or obnoxious with or without any help from alcohol. I've always managed to stay under the radar and never have had any alcohol related troubles. That being said, I had been limiting myself to about one beverage per hour. And in doing so I felt I was well under the limit. Then I had an opportunity to try a brethalizer and find out for sure. I blew a .093. The new limit here in WI. is .08. I wasn't even feeling a buzz. I was amazed. Now I stick to one beverage to every 1.25-1.5 hours if I'm riding or driving. If you don't like others having a couple drinks during a ride, then don't ride with them. You should be more worried about the smokers. Data shows that more people have been killed or made to suffer due to smoking than alcohol or not wearing helmets, and several others combined.

side stand ...she be broke!
a1bummer replied to Trader's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
Just a little FYI, if someone had the clutch master cylinder apart and put the push rod back in backwards, it will also make the clutch slip a bit when you get on her in fourth or fifth gear. Number three in the picture. That's what happened to mine when I got it. You might also want to check that bushing while your at it. Mine was pretty well worn. That's number four. It sell for about $5. -
Spare MKII Antenna mounts
a1bummer replied to a1bummer's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
Yup, all I need is the bracket. Any of you guys know which way the 85 bracket goes? Is it the same as the 86-93 or is it the same as the 83-85? I'll do some looking and check back. Bill Well according to www.boats.net, for the 83-84, the P/N is 26H-88144-01-00, ($24.31 new, but obsolete). The 85 P/N is 54K-88144-00-00, ($69.80 new, but obsolete). And in 86-93 the P/N is 1NL-88144-00-00, ($47.03 new, and still available). Update: I found one from a 91 that just popped up on eBay. I got it for $18.28 including shipping. So bongobobny, you can take that one if you want. Thanks for your input and efforts to the rest of you guys. -
Anybody here have the Utopia backrest for their 1st. gen? How do you like them? Do they adjust forward and back? Is there room for a passenger with it installed? Is it easy to take off when you need to? I have the type with the brackets mounted to where the helmet locks are on the MKI. There's very little room for my better half so I take it off when she wants to ride, but then the brackets make the insides of her knees sore. Plus the Utopis rest looks so much simpler too. Thanks, Bill

Anybody have any they want to part with? I mounted a MKII trunk on my MKI. I think it looks good and there is tons more room in there. For right now I have my 84 antenna mount kind of jerry rigged to do the job. But I need the MKII mounts to do the job right. I only have one antenna so I only really need one, but I would find a use for another if there's one available. Lik for a small flag or similar. Thanks, Bill

Never having my wisdow teeth out!
a1bummer replied to Sleeperhawks Mechanic's topic in Watering Hole
Ya, I got lucky too and never got any either. The daughter wasn't as lucky and had to get six teeth taken out. She never got that goofy. The insurance would only pay for the four wisdom teeth and wouldn't cover the two that had to come out so they could get at them. Go figure. -
On the MKII's trunk light, is it turned on with a mercury switch or is there a momentary switch that turns on the light when the trunk is opened? I noticed the brackets on the left hand side hinge that lead me to believe it would be a momentary switch. Would anybody happen to have an extra one they want to part with? Thanks, Bill

These remotes actually use a small 12v battery. It is about half as long as a AAA battery and about as big around. So hooking it up directly to the bikes system shouldn't be a problem.
-
You could simply use one of those "constant to momentary" relay setups to fix that problem.
-
I'd make an offer, but I'm 1000 miles away. I'd try selling the thing as a whole first. But if you do end up parting part it out, I'd be interested in some bags and all the associated hardware. Bill

I'm hoping that some of you older guys in here might be able to help me ID an old Polaris Star engine I have hiding in my shed. I'm trying to figure out what size it is and what year. The ID tag has been cleaned of all the important information except for some numbers that are stamped into it. I remember riding a few of the old Polaris sleds that had these engines in them when I was a kid. I want to put it into the go-cart I used to drive when I was a kid and get it back up and running for old times sake. I haven't driven it since I crashed it doing about 60mph when I was about 15. That was 24 years ago. I'm gonna have to chop off the roll bars and weld on some new ones and stuff. Anyway, I've attached some pics to help with the ID. Maybe someone knows where I can find some good info on vintage sleds and such that will help? Thanks, Bill
