  1. Same here, as the brackets for my current backrest make Jeannie's knees sore. But then if she learns to ride her Maxim this spring like she's supposed to, I won't be having that problem anymore.
  2. IH Truck Guy and I resemble that remark! Your just jealous!
  3. LOL! Thanks guyz! I'll be sure to have some motorcycle parking only setup somewhere for you all.
  4. I was looking for one for Jeannie for the last couple of years or so after I saw one parked next to my VR at the University. But I wound up finding a good deal on an 86 Maxim for her instead. It was a good looking and clean bike. The color looked good too. It was kind of a beige or off white with a pearl look to it. It would have probably suited her better than the Maxim. But as one of the other members said, I think $3600 is a bit steep. But then I'm a pretty cheap guy.
  5. Well I'm finally done with school and have been back to work for just over six months now. So with that all out of the way, my better half (Jeannie) and I decided to finally get hitched. We've only been engaged for about three or so years and all. We're going on a cruise the end of January and beginning of February as kind of a reward to her for supporting my butt while I was furthering my education to try and train for a new career after the injuries I got at my last employment. Then we got to thinking and decided it would be a nice time to get hitched while we were at it. So now we're doing one of those "Destination Wedding" things in St. Thomas in the Southern Caribbeans on January 31, 2011. We've also decide to have our reception/celebration next Memorial day weekend. So this also serves as kind of an open invitation to anybody who would like to come and celebrate with us. We're gonna do a barn dance thing and a pig roast. As for entertainment we're working on getting a DJ that does a lot of events around the area. There will be plenty room for camping on her Dad's farm in Dallas, Wi. where the shindig is gonna be. Oh ya... and BEER! And who knows what else when we get all the details worked out. Thanks, Bill
  6. There have been times when a little snow has stopped me on the way from work. It's 40* here now and a quite a bit of the 22" we got a couple weekends ago is already gone.
  7. I've ridden in the middle of January before. But then that was an unusually warm winter and there hadn't been any snowfall yet. I've also been caught in a couple bad snowstorms that were a little unexpected. On Monday morning on my way to work there was a guy riding a bagger heading in the opposite direction. We had record snowfall the weekend before. The roads looked dry, but what about the side roads, driveways, and parking lots, etc.? I certainly wouldn't be riding with all the salt that's all over the roads just waiting for some chrome to pit up. I'm in the northern part of the west central WI. by the way. Bill
  8. YES! That is a VERY good alcohol related video. We Americans as a whole are to full of ourselves. The puritanistic society in which we live in, won't allow that kind of commercial be seen here. I would also love to see that kind of commercial for cigarettes. After all, far more people have died either directly or indirectly from cigarettes than alcohol. Somewhere around 29 times more in fact. Bill
  9. How do these starters compare in performance and quality to those four brush starters you guys mention? Thanks, Bill
  10. Ya! What he said. I'm also curious where you guys are getting those four brush setups. Am I safe to assume they're a second gen item?
  11. And only going for $9,995. I was expecting much more. After the rebates and such. it could be quite worth it. I wonder how much more efficient it could be if they went with all LED bulbs and a belt drive?
  12. You mean she didn't like the idea of the BBQ but was OK with the women in bikinis and Jello idea? SWEET! I'd go with lime Jello myself. I went with a HF trailer also. Not the same as the one you have pictured but similar without the sides. I just bolt down a car-top cargo carrier to it and I'm on my way. I also added a longer tongue with a swivel to make things easier to hook/unhook when the bike is on its side-stand. I bolted the leaf springs below the axle so it sits a couple inches lower too. I was planning on ditching the extra leaf spring to save weight. I really don't think I'll be hauling around 870 lbs any time soon. Bill
  13. And I'll give that a 4th! Newegg is also great with returns. I usually check them out before I check out ebay for all my misc electronic needs. Bill
  14. Na... That would look more like this.
  15. Ok, Now I feel stupid. I didn't even see that link. Thanks, Bill
  16. You might want to stay away from the ones at Menards. I bought one only to have the display start blinking all the time as though the battery was going dead. This happened even with a new battery. Other times it wouldn't come on unless I took the battery out and then put it back in. Now the blinking stopped and it comes on like it should, but now every time I use it I have to take the battery out when I'm done or it will kill the battery even though it is turned off. I haven't tried any of the HF calipers yet. Bill
  17. Now that would just be WAY to simple! Here is the schematic I followed, and some scans of the masks I used to create the actual printed circuit boards (PCB's) I used. I Used a free program called ExpressPCB I found here (http://www.expresspcb.com/) to lay out my traces for my PCB's. I later found another program called PCB123v3.3.2 here (http://www.sunstone.com/pcb123/benefits.aspx) that I think will work better. I then went to these guys (http://www.philmore-datak.com/index.html) for all my supplies to make them. I also included their catalog (No. 12-760-A(found on bottom right corner of pg. 270 of their online catalog)) that might help you. I used the Positive method. I got my LED's from http://www.superbrightleds.com/cgi-bin/store/index.cgi?action=DispPage&Page2Disp=%2Fled_prods.htm, my relays and other components, like my IC's that I couldn't get locally, from https://www.allelectronics.com/index.php. There's also http://www.digikey.com/. But if you get their free catalog, IT'S HUGE! I have the rear signals done and installed. For the front I have to make a small PCB with about 4 or 5 LED's in a series for the running lights that will be mounted over the center of the PCB's I've already made. I had to put everything into "Zip" files to get it to upload to the site. Any questions feel free to give me a pm. Bill
  18. Now that's different! Where did you find that picture? I wouldn't mind seeing more pics and specs on it. Just out of curiosity.
  19. Ya, no problem. I'll have to get them to you later tomorrow though. I've been busy trying to wreck a couple computers today and now I have a big mess to clean up first.
  20. Looks good. You have a good start going, you'll get the bugs worked out sooner or later. I've done similar to my VR as well but I didn't go with arrows like you plan on doing. http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=51686&highlight=turn+signals I had to use a simple relay to turn the momentary signal from the turn signals into a constant signal to drive them. Plus my auto cancel still works as it should that way. Bill
  21. There's a reason I let HER take care of the finances ya know! LOL!
  22. LOL! That'll teach me to ask someone else and not look for myself. Right now I'm only 0.50% on my savings. You guys really know how to cheer a guy up! But If I had $1,000,000 in my savings, I could be making a whopping 1.13% monthly. Which adds up to $11,300/month & $135,600/year. That is if I'm reading things right. Bill
  23. Lets see now, my bank gives me 5% monthly interest. $1,000,000 would yield 50,000 a month. That would add up to 600,000 a year. I could easily live on that. But then if you think about it, there would be 20,000,000 millionaires added to our economy. I'm guessing that would cause inflation to rise even faster than it already is. In which case, for those of us who are lower and/or middle class citizens, it would be even harder for us to afford the basic necessities that we're already struggling to get now. My medications already take up almost half my income. Sorry to rain on your parade. Bill
  24. I know what you mean all to well. I have dealt with the same issues from passerby's. I've even taken a few hits from fellow member here. Both for my disabilities & riding and for not following the mainstream beliefs on here. But I'm still here and not that easily chased away just because of a few idiots. Bill
  25. WOW! I don't know if I would've had the balls to get out of the safety of my vehicle to take some pics like that. Talk about bragging rights! Bill
