Might have to take a ride up through tucker county canaan valley next weekend. Fall foliage map shows that area at moderate color now. It might be High color next week. Got some memories of the red baron and blue beast up there. http://www.foliagenetwork.com/reports/southeast_us/

I only write 2 checks per month... And thats because the banks won't take online payments. All other bills are paid online except for a few direct withdrawls. I don't carry cash either just my preference.

Everybody should ride one at least once. I have to sell it because no matter how hard I try. I can't stay out of the throttle.:no-no-no: Wisdom says move it now but I'll miss it.

My 86 V max is selling on Ebay Sunday night. It's currently at only $1600. I hope it brings much more but I priced it to sell. Winter is coming and no room in the shed. I'm freeing up the cash flow and pouring a ton of money into the new property. The land owner is giving me a 3 year NO INTEREST contract deal. So what I still owe after three years must be financed. Toys can be replaced but mamamo wants that property for a new log home someday.

It's the end of the 3rd quarter and I'm only $1000 short of meeting my investment goals for all of 2007. My annual goals are only 12% gain for the entire year. Now for a strong 4th quarter and I might see 15%. Gone are the days of 45% returns like we had before the dot com bubble. Real estate has been good up until the end of 2006. I sold mine in feburary 07 and glad I did it's been down all year. How many of you manage or monitor your retirement and personal investments?

Most of my neighbors are retiring early on state or federal programs. 3 squares a day, shelter, exercise, recreation, clothing. Some even got more then 1 life sentence.:cool10: The rest of us will need a reverse mortgage to make it.

I stopped this evening behind a school bus waiting to turn into a grade school. A new ford pickup pulled up behind me and stopped. About 10 seconds later I heard a screech, bang, crunch. A honda accord had slammed into the rear of the new (now not so new) pickup behind me. Obviously the driver wasn't paying attention as there was good visibility behind the pickup. No body hurt but the woman driver dropped her cell phone, spilled her coffee, and upset her makeup. What was the cause of the incident. I think the auto pilot on the honda quit working.:rotf:

So far our Tom Tom One is working great. Ready to go right out of the box, removable smart card, and blue tooth compatible all for under 200. Internal batt pack works great for just carrying around or take it in the motel and plan the next days route.

Carl I know there watching over and thank the Lord everyday. I could tell some true stories most would not believe. But that does not give me an advantage to be careless. By the grace of God I have missed many opportunity to leave this world. Yet I have seen many faithful believers leave early before there time.I don't believe in all cases just because one was taken that it was his time to go. We all need to be alert and careful out there. For Gods help we are thankful like I said never a bone broken so far.I just feel like a minority. I don't fit in to my community's drink, snort, smoke, steal, cheat, and grow your own lifestyle.

My sides finally quit hurting. I woke the wife up laughing at 5:00 am. Hey Duke I hope you wash your hand good before cooking any more ribs for me.:rotf::rotf:Muffinman talk about some visibility going down the highway and with a invitation sticker to venturerider.org on the windshield. Hard to tell the class of folks we will be getting now.

Jack if I'm taken out I got a ton of life insurance to. By the grace of God I'm ready to go just in no hurry to leave.:rotf:

Last evening at the community pig roast there was another one. A friend of mine who I used to ride with bruised and battle scared from a motorcycle accident. It's a shame that one of the most enjoyable past times ( riding a motorcycle) has to be so dangerous. The danger I'm talking about is circumstances beyond your control. Cagers,Deer, etc things that in a split second no amount of safety training or equipment can provide an escape. I have a level of confidence in my ability, and I rarely ride at night to lower the deer incident probability, but cagers scare the #@^#* out of me. The things I see on the highway and people pull out in front of me in my company truck where is there mind. I often see vehicles going down the highway that are not safe to be on the road. And drivers sometime act like there stoned out of there mind. I've never had a broken bone ever but the fact is If I was to go down and be laid up for a year. I would loose my job, only have 5 available sick days per year with 120 hrs max carry over, and it wouldn't take long to exhaust everything I've saved for 30 years. The scary thing is when I take a look at my down line of dependents. Wife, kids, grandkids, dad living next door. The quality of life for a lot of people would change. I enjoy a good test run once in a while but I'm glad I don't ride careless like I use to.Still a lot to think about.
-
Jim I don't know what to say. I'm glad your here to tell about it and pray for a swift recovery. But the fact is this kind of thing is happening way to often. Every body be careful out there and lets pray the cagers wake up. To many cagers driving around with so much on there mind I think it degrades there awareness.

This Saturday is our annual community pig roast. All the ladies will be bringing there covered dish and desert specialties.Should be about 40 different dishes there. It's important to attend these events with an empty tank so I may have to miss a meal or two Saturday morning to get ready. I wouldn't want to insult any of the ladies by not trying a sample of there fixins. I got a new bottle of antacid but I hope I don't pull my back out. Doctor says be careful lifting anything over 40 lbs.:cool10:

Hey scott I'll keep you in mind on my 86. I'll start parting it out in November. To much to do right now. The rear brake caliber and headlight assembly are already spoken for. I'll post some closeup photos before it hits Ebay one piece at a time. The odometer says 90K but I was told it only has 67K on it. The engine runs strong and puts you in those 3 digit numbers quick. No oil leaks either. It has a nice Markland hitch to. -
Thanks Thom I have heard dropping the tire pressure on the kendas helps. Mine are at full max 40 rear and front. This is getting to be a mystery.
-
Thanks buddy, I have suspected that deep groove tread pattern may be unstable for towing. There has to be some explanation. I had the same problem with the 89 but the trailer loaded was 600 lbs. I knew it was a first gen or tire problem. I met a electriglide pulling the same trailer coast to coast with no problems.I installed a new Kenda Kruz on the 99 and pulled the kompact kamp trailer 2000 miles this summer no problems. The voyager kit may have added the stability. It would be interesting to talk with a Kenda rep about this. The tires are great otherwise and time will tell about there tread wear mileage.

Don't try this without wearing your helmet.:rotf: www.compfused.com/directlink/1105/

I need a lower 1st gear. The 99 voyager kit riding two up with trailer is lacking on take off. I find myself in the friction zone to keep from stalling. The max rear may help this to.

Getting there on the Money Pit.

Jeff I would like to know that short cut. I replaced mine last year and there still leaking bad. I may have got a bad set. I'm getting ready to pull the front wheel, clean up the brakes which are saturated with fork fluid and install my new front tire. This is on my 84. What weight fork fluid should I use? -
Will this be another dry county with DNR curfew's?:rotf::no-no-no:
