  1. If you work M-F it's a 50 mile drive to get an oil change and tires rotated. We go to Sears autocare just to get it done. Forget finding a inspection station open on the weekend.
  2. Not much is Free anymore. All the local gas stations now charge $1.00 to use the air machine. What happened to 50 cents. I remember when using the air compressor was a free service. Sheetz where the wife works still has free air but not many left that do.Whats next a $1 fee on the Restroom door? I drove 12 miles to the closest gas station Saturday to gas up the truck. Everytime someone borrows my truck they bring it back empty. Anyway I took the airtank with me cause my air compressor was guarded heavy by Yellow Jackets and the tractor tire was low. I got pissed at the $1 fee for air and came back without it.The gas station also charges a $1 authorization fee just to swipe your credit card at the pump. I'm going to put a sign on the mailbox. Checks Free but bills and junk mail $1 please. I could have the phone company charge for incoming calls the wife is free, all others $1.00 except the Mother In Law $10.00:whistling:
  3. Beach trips can be expensive. There goes the shed money. You could always count the scoots along the way for something to do.
  4. :whistling:I got trailer if you need to tow anything behind you!
  5. I just zapped the spray to them. They built above ground again on the side of a tarp I had in the corner. It's 47 degrees so nothing was flying this morning.
  6. What's a Hammer? Do we need it? Looks like it will be next weekend before I start framing. Dam Yellow Jackets have taken over my scoot shed here at the house. I can't get to my tools, saws or anything. Tried to air up the tires on the old truck yesterday to haul lumber but could not get within 20 ft of the air compressor.
  7. I just got home with all the materials. A little landscaping to finish up then start the foundation and frame work.45 degree's last night Is winter coming early?
  8. I was just there last week. Rode around Buckhannon yesterday.I'll be back in the mountains in October watching the leaves in full color.
  9. This project is finally getting off the ground.I put the back blade on the tractor and began landscaping for a small shed at the camp.I picked up the materials list for a 12x12 shed with 8 ft ceiling and a gabled shingled roof. This is not about building a garage or having more storage then needed. Plan and simple 2 scoots on the other side of the creek makes me happy. No electric,no windows,no heat just storage. I got a 3 day weekend coming up quess what I'll be doing over Labor Day Weekend?
  10. Secrets out Dan this could be bad. Those short NO TRAFFIC 120 mph straights sure are nice for checking a tune up.
  11. I live on Bud Light Highway. I'ts every man for himself No Licensee or Insurance required.
  12. 105 Dan you having trouble with the shifter. Should be two more gears there somewhere.
  13. I understand Dan. It really sucks getting less then 100 miles out of a tank of fuel. I ran out of fuel twice on the 84.
  14. We made it home at 12:30 afternoon. 100 miles of rain and wet road but no problems. A great time as always now just waiting for others on the road to chime in safe.
  15. Carl thats a good point. With the tongue weight and bags loaded I bet that front end is running light. That much air pressure is not needed.Add some wind drag and things get worse.
  16. I have not experimented with tire pressure just run 40 lb in both. I have slid the scoot probably 5 or 6 times just riding two up. I'm more concerned about poor visibility and sudden stops that may be required and Yes on major highways. MamaMo's 99 with voyager kit tows great. We took it to Florida a few years ago in some heavy down pours with no problems. I really like the stopping power cause you can come down hard on the front brake with no problems. Maybe I can get it back together this winter. I'm really careful with the added responsibility of bringing the wife.We both love to ride but safety rules to enhance the riding experience.Nothing worse then her nerved up and uncomfortable with whats going on. I get enough backseat driving just trying to keep up with Yammer and Skid. LOL
  17. I'm still running the Kenda Kruz's. They are slippery on wet roads but good otherwise. I have about 6000 miles on these.
  18. I'm talking about pulling a trailer in the rain. My first gen gets very slippery riding two up in the rain. Now add a trailer behind that plus your scoot is tracking in the grease spot. My first choice is to pull off and wait. I find just traveling on wet pavement I run much slower then say others in the group. I'm not going to compromise safety above common sense and good judgement. Were leaving for Bristol Virginia Tomorrow then on to Asheville Friday. Coming back home on Sunday and guess what. It's calling for rain tomorrow and tomorrow night with heavy rain on Sunday.I told the wife we were taking the pickup and she agreed. I think my retirement scoot may be a trike.
  19. A local riding buddy had a interesting nature call last weekend. While riding the backroads of WV natures call hit him with no rest stop available. He found a wide spot on one of those lonely highways and dropped the kickstand for a quick trip to the bushes. As he was getting off the bike bee's were everywhere. Thinking they were yellowjackets he took off running then turned around to find his bike covered in honey bee's. His riding buddy gave him a lift to the next gas station where he called a local bee keeper and paid him to come out and remove the swarm. I LMAO when he told me this story this morning.
  20. I just looked at a Yamaha WR250R. A 4 cycle water cooled off road setup designed for mainly off road use yet street legal. Might be a possibility. Man designs sure have changed since I was a kid and so has the price. I gave $800 new for my 250 way back when?
  21. I grew up with the enduro class of motorcycle. Those were great for riding country back roads, and trails during my early teen years. I put a lot of miles on a kz-250 when I was teen.Today kids are into the ATV thing and you never see a dual purpose bike around here. My youngest just turned 12 but he is a big boy and looks more like 14 in size. I would like to get him started into motorcycling soon to get the off road experience and skills early. So what should I look for in a scoot? If I opt for a dual purpose licensed capable scoot then Ramona could ride it around the camp and short highway trips. That Big 16th Birthday will be here soon and I noticed a few spare 1st gens in the shed out there.
  22. Mini why do you always jump to conclusions. I was talking about pulling that 150 lb trailer behind me. MamaMo she is still at 115 and pretty as a peach. Nice save huh?
  23. Brave Man that Duke. Heading south with Mini on Friday the 13th! Does his Guardian bell cover that magnitude of trouble? I'll have about 150 lbs :whistling: of TROUBLE coming with me on Friday.
  24. Most of you never have this problem as you wear tires out before they age. I don't get to ride much and when I do my time is shared between 2-3 scoots. The 89 had new tires installed in July of 06 with only 5500 miles on them now. They still look new but I'm going to do a close inspection for cracks and dry rot.I'll check the date codes as the tires may have been 1-2 years old sitting on a shelf somewhere. If the tires are 5-6 years old should I be concerned about the age if I can not see any signs of cracking or dry rot?
  25. After 6 months of stress and 5 ft of snow this winter were out of here. Leaving for Hatteras Island and taking a new route. Were going south via Raleigh NC,Rock Mount and across Rt 64 to OBX.A change of scenery it's been 20 years since I went that way. My brother is going to watch my place and we have enough ammo loaded to hold down the fort for a while. Also got 4 dogs and 8 pups on patrol and one pissed off mallard duck.:rotf:
