  1. Hello Venture Friends. I met with the Nurse Practitioner for a follow up on my surgery in January. I got some great news on my recovery. My back is healing very well and I can now lift 20 to 25 pounds and bend and twist a LITTLE. The bad news part is I cannot ride a motorcycle or shoot a gun for another 3 months. What was actually stated was, "NO HIGH IMPACT activities for another 3 months". I didn't bother telling her I didn't plan on "high impact" issues with the bike, but no one plans those either and they still happen. So, I will get the bro-in-law to ride it a little to keep it a little active. Thank you for your thoughts and prayers. Steve

  2. I traded my 2008 RSV in toward a 2023 Indian Challenger. I loved my Venture and wish Yamaha had properly updated it to keep me on board.

  3. My old trailer is looking sad, so I figured I'd replace the fenders, remove the rust and give it a coat of paint. I happened to be perusing Craigslist and found a heavy duty trailer that was used to haul a trencher, smaller, but 10 ply tires, so it sits lower,... 2500 lb axle. It needed all the brackets that secured the trencher removed and a coat of paint. Wasn't really rusted, but would be soon without new paint. Spent the last day and a half doing just that, plus I welded a couple of new tie down points on it, then mounted a wheel chock I had in the garage. I'll still want to make sure the wheel bearings are properly greased, but that should be it. It's a little narrower and longer than my old trailer., (4x9) old one was (5x8). Should be a great trailer, dedicated to towing the bike. I'll still spiffy up the old trailer, but I'm diggin' this one much better for hauling Black Cherry. At $650.oo I think I'm well bought.

  6. Sorry to hear that, Im really looking forward to seeing everyone again that we haven’t seen since Covid interrupted our get togethers. I have been talking to another long time member from up north about the possibility of having a get together up there next summer. Hopefully that can come to fruition and we’ll all have a chance to catch up.

  8. Couple hours from the Corvette plant and museum. 1-1/2 hours from Nashville. Bourbon trail is further east of us. National quilt museum in Paducah if you want to learn how to sew. Southern Missouri/North Arkansas has some mountains and riding I hear, we haven’t made it over there yet. Bass Pro Memphis Pyramid if you’re into that. If you’re into fishing hang around a day or two, the new boat should be here by then. Room for 3 or people to fish in it. St Louis is about 4 hrs away if you like baseball.

  9. Hi there folks. I have placed an ad in the classified section offering to sell RSV lift frame adapters. These can only be used on bikes without the centerstand on them. You mount them to the bikes lower frame first using a steel rod that is provided with the adapter, then slide a mc jack under it and lift the bike up. I built these with some new improvements over the one I had done before. This model has much better access to the oil filter. This is a much better set up & safer from using hockey pucks or lumber in my opinion. Being out of work for almost a year now I've decided to put my ideas and skills to use to provide some income from selling these as well as at the same time giving our members here a product that will see a lot of use. I'm asking $65 + shipping costs. I'll get a better idea as to the shippng costs next week. I'm guessing offhand at the moment something between $10 & $15. Pay Pal payments is available as well. Any questions please do contact me either here in PM or vie E-Mail Thanks in advance, Larry Skeels Update: Due to several requests for a self standing model I am now offering one that will allow the jack to be removed entirely. Current model will allow the wheels to be off the ground 5 - 5 1/2". Other heights available per request. Costs for this model will be $105 for local pick up or $125 shipped Update 1-07: I've added another option for those of you have my Freestanding lift adapter. I'm offering them now with foot pads welded on per request if wanted, for an additional $5. For those of you who already have my freestanding adapter I'm also offering a slip on foot for $15 which includes shipping. Both have a 3" square pad and will keep your legs from sinking into the ground, gravel, or blacktop drives for those who have no concrete. UPdate 2-8-07: It has come to my attention that the Larin jack is about 1/2" shorter than the width of the adapters. Which will make it much harder to get the jack centered properly. I have come up with a solution thou that will center the lift pads of the jack everytime and at no extra cost for the Larin jack owners. So if you have a Larin jack let me know before ordering and I will incorporate the modification before shipping an adapter out.

  10. To answer some of you who've given me great moral support here I wish to thank you. Whether I have possible recourse thru applying for a provisional patent right or not remains to be seen. As Al noted it may be to little too late once the door has been opened. Not to mention what it may cost me in the long run. I have made some contacts and am currently waiting for responses from them. Only time & money will tell where this takes me. It never has been my intention here to corner the market so to speak on these adapters. My only thought was helping out the brothers here with a product that made using the Ventures easier in our life. That is why I first posted up my drawing along with dimensions last year sometime. It was before the sites crash and can't remember exactly when I posted that info. Once I lost my job and without any on the horizon I decided to use my talents to make them and offer them to our members here who don't have the knowledge or skills to build their own. Thus I got into selling them. Over time I also listed my adapter for sell at the Delphi fourms Royal Star Venture & Tour Deluxe site. When someone else had decided to capitalize on my design I have no idea. Did he STEAL from me? Kinda hard to say since I did place my drawing out for public viewing. Was it ethical? Again that's a judgement call. It does upset me knowing that there was no respect given me, but that doesn't seem to matter one bit for a lot of people in today's world. As I've said many times I do Thank everyone one for their support in both buying an adapter from me & for moral support. I like to think of us as family here and I do believe that is true as I've seen many wonderfull examples of that since I came to this site in June of 05. I look forward to continue serving our member's here with whatever I can do to make this site as great as it already is. Thanks, Larry
