  1. Sadly, the last 5 years and several surgeries later, I still can’t ride my 07 Venture / Hannigan Trike more than an hour or so. I have mentioned to my wife that we should just sell it, but she doesn’t want to. We used to take long road trips on it. We have hit 39 states, with hopes of finishing out the lower 48, but I can’t imagine that happening now. I have had it out 3 times this year for short rides. In my wildest dreams, I never thought that at the age of 60, most of my life would be spent in bed. My message to you that can still ride is to RIDE! Ride all you can, when you can because you never know when your health will turn for the worse.

  2. Got the inner fairing loose now. Will install the risers and then see what the fairing does. May have to shim it a bit.

  3. Hello Gentlemen and Ladies, this 93 Royal venture is my first experience with these particular motorcycles. My front tire looks almost new it still has the whiskers, good tread, and no weather checks in the side wall. The rear tire has plenty of tread left but is weather checked so I don't trust it (blowouts are the pits). The tire that's currently on the bike is 140/B 16 made in Korea; That leads to my question what is the best tire for year round riding on the venture, I'm sure collectively you folks have figured out what works the best. Thank you for your help with this old dinosaur. Respectfully, Braun.

  4. Has anybody here put the Baron's risers on the Hannigan trike with EZ Steer? I got some stuff done yesterday. Bluetooth module installed, charging phone mount installed, new LED Headlamp installed. Last thing was to install the Baron's risers. I got them almost in place but there isn't enough clearance between the risers and the inner fairing. I can't get them to fit flush together, hitting the fairing leaves a gap between the risers and the old risers at the top because the inner fairing pushing them out. I'm about ready to give up on them.

  5. All done. Got the risers installed, fairing put back together. All buttoned up and ready to go. I was thinking while the sweat was dripping off, I can remember when I actually enjoyed this mess. Of course it’s raining now that I’m ready to ride.

  7. That's an excellent skill set for a build like you intend to do. If I remember correctly Larry, The Hannigan Kit used the Third Gen. Ford Thunderbird Independent Rear because the Diff. Housing was in the correct location, (If you ran it upside down) it was narrow enough to fit under the rear of the bike without poking out to far, and it came stock with Disc Brakes. Earl

  8. I would build it myself , I have welded steam and , air compressor tanks, uni body car chassis , truck frames , aluminum compressor tanks , W 31 grade aircraft tubing and have passed inspection on all ....I am retired and time does not matter ...I buy all material at a reduced cost , and I would estimate my total material cost at about $1000.00 ..The only thing that I am undecided abut is to build a solid rear axle unit or independent rear suspension .....

  10. If you use the solid type it won't leak so bad when it's sitting,,, at least so I have heard. And @saddlebum all you need to do to get it in the crankcase is to warm it up. On the tire question? May I suggest you get a round one with some tread left on it? It would be helpful if it held air as well I suppose.

  11. There's a liquid crisco Wish somebody told me. Having to warm it up or spoon it in is a real PITA.

  12. Wish I had put the bars on before putting the fairing and etc back together. Oh well.

  13. Craig, I can relate. Health and weight issues forced me to give up riding several times. I recently dropped 195 lbs, off cpap and out of the diabetic range I’m now on a trike. While I love the trike I feel that my long distance days are over. I just enjoy it for what it is. At 67 I’ll take whatever riding time I have left.

  14. I'm thinking there is a bolt on each side of the fairing that will give a little clearance for the risers, but what we put on was 2 inch I believe. the bolts will allow the fairing to tilt a little.

  16. Because it's black instead of blue he would say it was too slow.

  17. I was thinking of going with 2 in the back , because that would leave me with more of 2 wheel feel while riding ..Some of the guys here are talking about independent suspension , although the solid differential would be a simpler build ..There is metal bender near by who tells that they can easily build me a aluminum body .. I was thinking of using a GM Chevite or Ford Pinto differential ...Like in any build there are probably going to be several things coming up that will require some extra input

  18. I don't know if I'd bite on a Harley. Every time I've been on a ride with one were either end up push starting it or sitting in a bar waiting on a tow truck. LMAO

  19. I waited to long to add the rest of the information so I'll try it this way. Front Tire is Dunlop D404F 120/90-18 MC 65 H: Rear tire is. Shinko SR 777 HD 140/90 B16 MC 77 H. I plan to match up the new rear tire to the front so I'll see how that works out. Thanks again, Braun.
