  1. Maybe this is to much notice but I am tentatively setting the "Pork in the Pines 2023" for August 25-26-27th, 2023. Save that date in your phones calendar and make no other plans for that time and we will go from there. BTW: In the past we have had more of them there Canadians at this than any other group. I am hoping that the Canadians from BC will come and make a vacation out of it. Yes Rick and Marylin, Laura and Gord, I mean YOU !!!!!! Updates as I know them Steve aka Bubber 👍

  3. I would say that a large part of our problem today lies in the fact that the vast majority of the young ones are raised in cities where there is only schooling to give them an education. Previous generations had the privilege of a lot of us being raised in the country where experience taught us a lot and we grew up making mistakes that were good lessons for future experiences. Good for those kids whose parents stay with the program, realize the short comings of city living\apartment dwelling and stay on a program that educates the next generation properly. That is not an easy job and takes more than constant consistent input and involvement as well as dedicated for-site.

  5. They recently built apartments here in SLC specifically without enough parking, banking on public transit. Sad thing is without a car you’re trapped in a 60 mile corridor.

  6. It's all smoke & mirrors. Electric vehicles are the way of the future, but we're not nearly there yet. When you look at the carbon footprint of these vehicles you need to look at the "Total" footprint, ...which is to say what it takes to mine and process the materials needed...the carbon output of the vehicle during it's lifetime....and what happens to these materials when the vehicle is scrapped. If you take into account the "Total" carbon footprint; electric vehicles fall way behind ICE vehicles. They don't tell ya that... Yup, they're the future, but not OUR future...maybe our kids or grand-kids, but not us. The bigger picture they're looking at is CONTROL of the population. They'd like to push us into living in urban centers, on top of one another, relying on public transportation. There's true evil at work in this world, and the push for "carbon free" transportation is one small facet of it.

  7. More important: check the manufacturing dates, recommend no older than 6 years.

  8. Yes. Same here. @TTrax I’d start with a bigger resistor to see if the intermittent goes away before chasing a ghost. I’d have to look at the schematic to be certain however I’m very confident all that line is doing is looking for a minimum resistance before the light goes on.

  9. I just used the recommended resistor, light was out so I quit.

  10. I may be wrong but I think you’re reading too far into it. My simple brain says we’re just trying to trick the computer into think the fluid level is providing enough resistance to not trip the light.

  11. Nice machine @Freebird. Congratulations. As far accessories go the main things you need is to fit a rump or two in the saddle and a set off boots on the floor boards then ride to your hearts content.

  12. Agreed... Only turn the knob in direct sequence and do so slowly..... Then you will notice a big difference in ride.. As @cowpuc mentioned in his post. Great info there!!!

  13. Nope. Never did find the leak. I did replace the shift shaft O ring and the neutral switch orange O ring... But I still got a tiny drop of oil after a day run. Gave up! Wasn't enough to bother me anymore. The bike ran so good.... Decided to enjoy the ride! Sold to a friend's son. I hope he's having fun as well. It was a great bike!!

  14. In my opinion, the HARM is the fact that with the crankcase overfilled, if you do have a float sticking in a Carb; you would never be able to detect it because the window is already overfilled with oil. If one day the sight glass is in the middle with oil, and a week later the sight glass is full, then according to Marcarl, there is half a quart of gas in your oil! Risky business, if you ask me. Crack the drain plug into a clean container, refill the crankcase to the proper level, and sleep better at night! Also keep in mind that "newbees" with their first Venture read these posts also! Let's not steer them down the wrong path. WOW! I feel like I am channeling the Pucster!! Hey Michael, I'm not trying to be a dick here, but I would hate to see you end up with an 800 pound paperweight because you scalded the bearings out of that motor because you didn't take 15 minutes and correct a simple mistake! I have a bike in the shop right now that the little brass washer on the middle gear cover was removed, and not replaced and the engine ran out of oil which caused the motor to seize up!! Now this bike is a "Parts Bike" as a result. Simple oversight, causing catastrophic results. If I didn't love ya' brother, I wouldn't say a word! Earl

  15. I want to put bigger diameter pipes on my 1996 Royal Star from the head back. I took the mufflers off and it was only a 1 inch pipe. Will bigger pipes say 1-1/2" - 2" work or My other thought was to cut the stock pipes about 3" from the head end and flare it out then weld new size pipe back to flared out head piece. would option 2 work
