  2. Let me guess, you got stuck on a road that had a u/turn at each end and couldn’t find the exit.

  3. Now Puc, you have gone and done it. I laughed so hard at this post that it interfered with my nap time!!! I will never look at lane splitting the same again!

  8. I ALWAYS enjoyed lane spitting back when I chewed tobacco. Get er up to 100 mph, stick my naked head out into the wind, turn my head so my ears didnt fill up with spit and let er rip. It was a whole lot better than swallowing the stuff which always gave me heartburn. One time, back in the 1970's when I was Tigging tube (thought ya had me didnt ya @flyday58, thought I was gonna say tigging pipe didnt you?) for the Boilermakers I was up at 290 feet in the Power House tigging a wall of Super Heaters and had a mouth full of Days O' Work chew and had to spit. There are no lanes when your up there, just you, your "Pimp" (helper who does all the leg work like fitting walls for you), a Tig torch and a gorgeous view of the boiler activity below. I saw no one below so I let er go.. That great big wad of spit headed down and instantly filled with air and took on the shape of a tobacco chew spit umbrella. The umbrella moved from side to side in "the hole" below as I and my pimp watched it in amazement.. It suddenly caught an updraft and headed toward the boiler walls below us and disappeared into the east wall at about 140 feet down. I looked at my pimp and we both starting laughing and laughed until we heard a crew of Iron Workers down there scream "Stop spitting!!!". Back to work.. The end.

  11. Listing my 2009 RSTD for sale. Owned since new, 25,000 miles. All maint. overdone, valves set at 24,000 miles, carbs cleaned and Ivan kit jetted, sync'd etc. Have the original seat, pipes ect. Bubs on it now (4-2-4's) Dyna 3000, K&N's, Michelin on the rear (1000 miles), 404 on the front (3,000 miles) only because Michelin doesn't make a 150/16 front. Yamaha fillers at the rear but have all the hardware to put it stock. V-Max gear set. Mustang seat and rider's backrest, (stock seat also) Not likely you can find a cleaner better running example, not a scratch on this bike, sleeps in the shop, mainly a fair-weather toy. LED bulbs headlight and tail-light. Short (4") Cee Bailey windshield. All fluids flushed every 2-3 years. Synthetic oil yearly. Reasonable offers considered. This may be the best example of the last year (2009) RSTD you can find, absolutely no tip over blemishes or gas tank defects. Everything works as it should. $7400

  13. Remember to let her wind. If you ride it like a twin it’ll be a dawg as you said. Cruising rpms up around 4,000. Put her in second or third and bounce it off the limiter, you’ll quickly find the power. Stay out of 5th below 65 mph.

  19. If you are concerned about it, stick a tygon tube down the fill hole and syphon a little out. Or use one of those hand held mity vacs if you have one. I used a long tygon tube to syphon trans fluid out of my car when the dealer overfilled it. It was easy to do. My car has as dipstick tube, no dipstick came with it but it still had the tube. Of course the after market came through for me with a dipstick.

  20. Just so that you can feel better informed, Dutch Navigator is not German, and by the looks of what he (they) built and refurbished they are not butchers either. Now I give them credit, they do have music and good choice,, after all it seems to be DUTCH!

  22. So does that mean you have new tires? are tired again? or asking to start a thread on tires for another round of discussion. Maybe you should get some sleep, you can get tired if you don't sleep enough,, but you'll find that out soon enough. If you mean you don't have to go to your place of employment anymore then don't be thinking that you won't have work to do. Have a great time trying to get in some R&R in-between all the new projects. Please update us in 6 months. Congrats.

  27. Well, it does seem a bit extreme to be down to 9.7 volts after only a couple of days. I know that they will go down due to things like the clock and etc. but I didn't think it would happen that quickly. I can't say for sure because I always leave mine on a battery tender, regardless of the battery type, all the time.

  35. First one is spatchcocked and then Seasoned (however you want) place on a bed of potatoes, carrots, green beans or other vegetables. I do this in a 12" cast Iron and cook the vegetables for about 45 - 60 minutes before adding the chicken on top. Keep the grill or smoker at about 225 - 250 and it takes about another 2.5 hours. All that great chicken fat and the seasonings cover the vegetables. I also like to add a lot of smashed garlic. Also, I have seasoned the vegetables first which works well too. The second, Split along the rib cage and back then butterfly close to the neck. Season to taste and cook over medium coals turning as needed. I then I like to use several layers of Sweet Baby Rays BBQ sauce.

  38. I assume you are talking about re jetting the carbs and modifying the intake and exhaust for "better" performance? The problem with doing that kind of thing with these bikes is getting things to run smooth across the throttle range is darn near impossible. The CV carbs are vey particular when it comes to air flow and the air box on the XVZ and XJ Yamahas, and probably a whole lot of other Japanese bikes, is designed to supply the air evenly at the needed volume and cfm. Start monkeying around with it and you will get dead spots and uneven intake due to turbulence at different speeds. There were volumes of threads on the xjbikes forum about this. people adding velocity stacks with pods, up jetting and running open drags. Some went so far as to add adjustable intake butterfly valves and manually adjusting them. All had the same story to tell. It just doesn't work well. You might get marginally "better", I.e., faster off the line or slightly higher top end by up jetting and running a high flow air cleaner at the expense of fuel economy, but these bikes already have pretty darn good performance for as big and heavy as they are. Just one guy's opinion, YMMV. ETA: You might want to talk to the guys at Ignitech about a performance programmed CDI. They are very knowledgeable about their products and our bikes. When I went with their module on my '83, they were very helpful via email.

  39. Skydoc sold a Stainless steel screw and ball to help to hold in the stock valve but he wasnt selling the valve. Here is one on Ebay right now, it is for a 87 but will work on your 84 also. It has the same part number for both years. https://www.ebay.com/itm/195043475770?hash=item2d697f413a:g:V~sAAOSwQTxgSU3F&vxp=mtr https://www.ebay.com/itm/185411577951?hash=item2b2b64285f:g:nFoAAOSwc8BicSDo&vxp=mtr Hope that helps you out..
