I don’t normally do them either, that being said I plan to work less this year. Exactly 5 months less. I passed the 20 year mark of my hazardous duty career last night at midnight. July 31st 2022 is my target date of eternal unemployment.
Maybe you is right, but what would cause a stoppy if he didn't squeeze the handle. Obviously the caliper ceased,, maybe or did it just run tight from getting too warm from too much drag,,,, That's why we need to know more maybe.
If the brakes are not delinked, it would be difficult for both fronts to lock up, they are separate master cylinders. Are you sure the front left and right rear did not lock up? If that is the case, it is probably a blocked air return in the rear master cylinder, that happened to me on my 83. Other smarter ones will be along shortly.
Also here are pictures of bike dolly I got from Princess Auto. Had to modify it so bike would fit. Had to lengthen 6" and kickstand tray out 3". A lot easier to move around the garage. Can move right over to shelving and also move to edge of garage to go for ride. Have had this for a few years but am glad I finally got around to adapt and use.Much easier than wiggling back and forth and holding bike up.
No real resolutions but hope to lose a little weight, exercise more, ride more, catch more fish, and shorten my "to do" list. Yeah Right?! And win the lottery!.....
Things slowed down a little bit this winter, but the story continues. New Dunlop 404 tyre arrived (from Spain) and the second one is on it's way. The blue stuff is protecting the white color and can be removed with warm water.
All the Tupperware parts are sanded and will primer painted next week.
For the class system to only come on with key in ACC is normal. I would take some soapy water and spray the entire system. Leaks could come from the lines or a failing solenoid valve as well as the air bag or front fork seals. The collars around the top of the front forks to which the air lines connect, have simple o-rings that may have dried out and failed. to replace the o-rings you need only slide the forks out enough to allow the collars to slip of the top end of the forks, replace the o-rings and slide it all back together.
@skydoc_17 thanks so much Earl for that detailed reply. I didn’t know the Progressive springs in effect did the same as the anti dive, I replaced them because the old ones kept bottoming out. I’ve read last year about the R1 upgrade but I needed to get a little more saddle time with it before I made any decisions. Also I wasn’t sure if it’s the nature of the beast to have slow braking or my bias or just basic physics considering my comparison is my 400lb bike with dual Brembo up front.
Do you have a website to purchase and browse your stuff? How much is the delink kit?
What years R1 caliper fit or what is the PN I should be looking for?
leave the stock rear caliper? Or is there an upgrade too?
the stock master cylinders are still used? Mine appear to be in great shape.
thanks again!
