Hey guys I did 11 years in the Marines was a Park ranger for 5 years and now in training to be a tankerman on a towboat. I just got an 83 Venture and I am loving it. I have had a lot of motorcycles over the years and so far this is one of the best ones I have rode.

Kind of one of those “mixed emotions” moments….I’m totally stoked it worked, on the other hand….I’m bummed that I bought a new retainer spring ($10 for the part and $10 to ship…thanks partzilla). Yes remove and toss the wire keeper the two half washers and the half disc. This is all replaced by a full disc. in the Barnett kit which comes with the proper number of discs and steels and eliminates the need for the half disc, washers and wire retainer.

I tend to ride all year round, in the winter months the Ural gets out more (mostly because Baloo our sidecar pup needs to go for a spin. The ST1300 gets out for its rides as well, as long as the roads are clear, I don’t have an issue riding in the colder months, just add another layer. Most rides will end with a coffee rather then ice cream that time of year. Mike

It sounds like you installed too many parts. If you got the Barnett clutch complete with a full set of discs,The only parts required are those included in the Barnett clutch Kit. Also you take the the OEM retainer wire half disc and the two thin washers on either side of the disc and install them into the nearest trash can as they are not used with the Barnett clutch pack. Also there are no alignment markings to concern yourself with as with the OEM clutch pack.
