  1. I grew up around Goldwings and have one myself 16 (😯) years ago for a little while... so when this came up (about 5 miles away) I couldn't resist! It has a few daft problems... nothing to serious or difficult to fix... but I love it!

  3. Ordered some parts today on Ebay. Lots of spares for these bikes in the USA. Shipment is about $120 to the Netherlands. Parts are still half the price compared to the prices in Europe.

  4. Quick update. Managed to remove the bank angle sensor from it's perch high up in the gooseneck of the frame. Carefully opened it up to see why I might be getting the erratic resistance readings. 3 small brass pieces fell out. I am hoping this was the cause of all my grief this past month. I will compare the ohm readings with the new switch when it arrives later this week.

  5. I doubt the Hannigan kit is responsible, those bolts on there are only keeper bolts to hold the two bearing retainer plates in place. The bearing is a ball bearing so unlike a taper bearing there is or should be little no side thrust unless there is an issue between the the angled middle gears such as a broken tooth or too much lash between the two gears because of worn bearings or improper shimming of the gears but since one bolt appears to still be in place unless it is loose, I am inclined to second guess that thought. So my 1st thought is this has been worked on before and the retaining bolts have been over torqued. The top two appear to have had the tops taken off while the lower bolt has a clean break. 2nd thought is the bolts loosened off for one reason or another allowing in and out sideways movement of the bearing under minor shock loads resulting in pounding of the bolts until they finally failed. 3rd thought is the drive line suffered some sort of shock load between the angled middle drive gears forcing the bearing outwards snapping the heads off two bolts and making a clean break of the third but which does not explain why the fourth bolt appears to be still intact unless it is loose. 4th thought binding or seizing u joints on the drive shaft can cause strain on the middle gears and bearings. Finally some foreign object or broken piece floating around in the gear box, so regardless of the cause, I would not just extract and replace the bolts. Remove the engine and gear box, open it up and do a thorough inspection checking all the bearings in case they have had debris go through them. I would also check the final drive for any defects including improper gear lash between crown and pinion. Too much gear lash could cause There may be other causes but these are the ones that hit the top of my list.

  7. Good Afternoon Brothers and Sisters. Been a Serious Minute or 2.. I hope all of you have been doing well. Issues tied to the aneurysm had me sidelined for a long hot minute but things seem to be on the upswing these last few months with a great recovery and a decent outlook. Had to park the bike due to not being able to safely hold it up coming to a stop. Couldn't do much of anything , No work done on the cabin etc. Full Stop across the board. Its nice to be mobile again and Great to return here to bug yawl to death!! Gonna Browse the boards and try to catch up on the goings on over the next few days/weeks. Opened a small engine repair shop in an old fire House in the Center of Danforth about 12 miles from the house. Gives me something to do and I get paid to break stuff etc. So much for yarning. Yawl Have a really Great day and I be seeing ya!!! Ride Safe!! and God Bless ya!!

  8. I replaced mine recently and noticed the difference in the numbers too, but they all worked out. Like @saddlebum mentioned, I think they are mold or batch numbers. Mine worked out fine even though the numbers cast into the boots didn't seem to make any sense to the orientation. I had bought mine from eBay and they were Tourmaster branded.

  9. And be aware of cross winds! Really counter steering is something you need to practice until you do it without thinking otherwise in those oh chr@p moments you will do the wrong thing. Nothing is more depressing then being laid up and looking at an unfixable bike.

  10. We want to keep the bike. We got it for free so investing some money is fine. Thanks for the tip about the rear brakes.

  14. I make various jumpers for the Venture. I make a plug and play jumper break out that plugs in to the back side of the cigarette lighter that is in the lower portion of the fairing on the left side. I can put wires on the bare pins in the photo and you can but splice or solder your adapter to those wires. The jumper is $10.00 delivered to any where in the lower 48.
