  1. Looks like it was run underinflated most of its life. Tread depth looks OK. The Dunlap E3 use to wear odd on edges and would feather edges and howl in corners. I dont see anything visually I would worry about. Check the sidewall for date and also visual cracking incase they rode it a lot low, it could cause damage.

  3. No problem. I was the ride coordinator for a recent forum rally here in Maggie Valley. I used the MyRoute program and did each days ride with Route, Way points & POI and saved as a gpx1.1 file. Was able to let everyone have the same route whether it was their phone, Garmin, Goldwing or SVTC. The first days ride had 11 way points with a stop for lunch. The SVTC nav performed FLAWLESSLY! It was exciting to actually have it work the way it was expected. The second days route had 27 way points and did outstanding right up until point 14. It was actually my fault because my way point wasn’t exact. With the Venture nav, you have to make sure that the point you’re going to cross is exact. If not, it will take you in circles until you reach it. I did however in the midst of “circles” find within the nav a place at the bottom which said “Edit Route”. Once I went in there STARTING AT THE BOTTOM I deleted way points until I got rid of the problem one and suddenly the nav system acted like nothing happened and show where to go for the next point. The item that we have to figure out is WHY each of the way points have no info! Even though it was there when creating the route, it doesn’t seem to show on our system. Once we figure out what our system is looking for as far as format or information then the sky is the limit! You can have as many way points with stops as you want, and even delete way points (can do that now)on the fly. Just need the way points info to show up so you know what you’re deleting. The other days rides had anywhere from 8 way points as a straight out and back in the Cherohala Skyway and others which had 22 points. In all other rides except that one day, the routes worked perfectly!

  5. There is no such thing as asking too many questions because we all love to help were we can. Nor need you feel too dumb about these bikes since you can only get smarter and more knowledgeable about these bikes, through the more than willing help and advice of the membership. The main reason this site was formed was to share knowledge that is unavailable through other means, even bike shops do not have the knowledge this site has. There is a side effect however which I am sure was unforeseen by the founder of this site. You run the risk of forming strong off line friendships. You will find the members here are not just on line friends as many of us have formed strong in person friendships through rally's, meet and eats and meet and greets. Some of have formed friendships as far back as 15 years or more through this site and some of those friendships are still going strong to this day. Many members that live close enough together, help each other and that often includes newbies. The monitors here do a fantastic job in keeping this site in a PG state, clean and free of foul language and hurtful comments and any subject that gets too controversial to were it starts to turn ugly is shut down. All in all this site sets a high standard not seen in many other forums.

  6. My Bottom radiator hose needs to be replaced (2008 Royal Star Venture). I called several Yamaha dealers in the area for availability and got the same answer: "We can order one." Well, I can stay at home and order one too. The problem is I want it now! The Yamaha part number for the lower hose is 4XY-12588-00-00. It retails for about $16 plus Ship&Tax. Searching at an auto parts store is futile since they don't carry many motorcycle parts and immediately request the year, make, and model to search for parts. Fortunately I know someone at the local Autozone who allowed me to browse through the inventory of hanging hoses behind the counter. I found one that will work. It fits a 1999 Honda Civic 1.6. Although it is used as the top radiator hose in the Civic, and is much longer with multiple bends, nonetheless, it works perfectly. The Part number is Continental Hose E71604. AutoZone sells it for $23. The benefit is that there is more than enough to replace the upper and lower hoses on the Royal Star. There is even some left over if you screw-up. Another benefit is you can cut it a little longer than the original to make assembly easier. Best of all, I can ride today.
