Good Afternoon Brothers and Sisters. Been a Serious Minute or 2.. I hope all of you have been doing well. Issues tied to the aneurysm had me sidelined for a long hot minute but things seem to be on the upswing these last few months with a great recovery and a decent outlook. Had to park the bike due to not being able to safely hold it up coming to a stop. Couldn't do much of anything , No work done on the cabin etc. Full Stop across the board. Its nice to be mobile again and Great to return here to bug yawl to death!! Gonna Browse the boards and try to catch up on the goings on over the next few days/weeks. Opened a small engine repair shop in an old fire House in the Center of Danforth about 12 miles from the house. Gives me something to do and I get paid to break stuff etc. So much for yarning. Glad you had a great trip and made it home safely. I was going over Rabbit Ear Pass on Sept 8th, having just come across hiway 14 from Fort Collins! Absolutely beautiful area. I carried a spare fuel pump with me on my trip (5,500 miles over a month), along with the couple of tools necessary to change it out, if need be. A lot of things could go wrong, but I figured if the fuel pump went out, its one problem I could easily fix anywhere, myself and it doesn't take up much storage space. If the points go out, I'll swap in the spare, replace the points when I get home and then still have a spare to carry with me. My spare is a very clean, used pump purchased off of ebay for $30. The same pump was used on other Yamaha Star models, so not hard to find used on ebay. Hope you are back up and running soon!1 point

I spoke with Scott over the weekend. He and Tip are alive and well and visiting their family right now. He told me that his motorcycle riding days are over. He has decided to leave the Venturerider forum. He won't be reading or posting. His wit and wisdom will be missed on this forum but know he and his wonderful wife are both fine and enjoying their next chapter. Hey PJ, Far be it for me to point out that you ALREADY HAVE the Clutch Pressure Plate and Six Compression Spring Clutch System that Barnett has so shamelessly COPIED except their Pressure Plate is powder coated Purple! (Which you CAN"T See once you put the clutch cover back on!! Never did understand that one!) And far be it for me to point out that your Clutch System is 37 years old! The issue I HAVE with the Carbon Fiber Barnett Friction Discs is they generate a tremendous amount of heat which has to be absorbed by the engine oil and radiator coolant. Plus, those carbon fiber clutch friction discs get a little "cranky" when they are cold. Unless you are "Racing" this motorcycle, you may want to have a look at Genuine Yamaha Clutch Friction Discs and a good set of EBC Heavy Duty Compression Springs! That should last you another 37 years or so, and leave a few extra bucks in your bank account! Just sayin". Earl1 point
