  5. It is actually legal here in California, it is called lane sharing. Most riders do not follow the actual law while doing it though. Technically it is only legal when the prevailing flow of traffic is 25 mph or less, and riders are not supposed to go more than 5mph faster than the prevailing flow. When I first moved here I didn’t know what the heck was going on with all the motorcycles, so I looked it up.

  6. Filtered again on the way home yesterday and it was pleasantly comfortable, and only at one light. I did find myself using A&P eyes rather than looking straight as I made my way to the front.

  7. Kinda like Puc and Tippy getting a ticket for impersonating a cop because Tippy was wearing a white helmet.

  8. Just a couple of comments: I think it was 86 when they brought in the stand safety switch, it really is a good idea but also it is exposed to harsh conditions. The clutch switches do often fail due to the cycles they are exposed to. One of my old bikes was very problematic with the darn thing so I replaced it with a hydraulic switch. Having said that and have had an 86 MKll all I did was clean it and used plumbers grease for lube and water resistance. But Terry, personally I would first check the charging system. Knowing that the battery went bad and that it is running rough points to the potential of a short. reread the underlined segment from post 12: "A stator that is shorted to ground may still produce full AC voltage from pin to pin. The problem with this is the rectifier changes the AC current to DC current and then uses the ground as one leg of the DC. When the stator shorts to ground the AC and DC get mixed together." If you are not sure how to check or set your multi meter just ask @Pasta Burner nice to see you supporting the thread 👍

  9. Well...I just can't see myself doing it. To many idiots out there and getting worse every year! To the air cooled idea....yes I get that. In 1969, I was riding outside of Parsippany, NJ, when traffic stopped due to construction. It was a hot June summer day. I was riding my Yamaha YDS6C. Air cooled 250 street scrambler. Daytona racer derivative for the street. I shut the motor off and sat in traffic. Finally decided to go to a gas station, take off riding gear and get a coke. I pushed the bike on the shoulder to the station, about 150 feet. Parked her and took off helmet and jacket.. Cop pulls up and gives me a ticket for driving on the right side shoulder. Really??? Thankfully a lady friend's mom was a judge there. One phone call and mom was laughing. She told me don't worry about it and wished me a safe journey. I was heading to Mississippi from New Hampshire to help a buddy build a house for his wife's parents. Motor off. Aluminum engine. Pushing bike. Ticket. Ok.... D

  11. Well kind of but in the full sense no. I wanted to ride and having that gaping hole wasn’t an option for me. I did confirm that the Squelch Pot is no longer functional. I bought a 50K pot from Radio Shack to confirm cb function and all checked out and Is working with the CB on. What I bought though is electrically correct but not physically compatible. So now I’m on the hunt for a replacement pot that fits the CB knob. As for the “7” displaying I haven’t gotten that far into it, I want to eliminate one variable at a time. So for now, I have the connectors disconnected And sealed. And the unit reinstalled. Thanks for checking in on it. This may be a wintertime fix.

  12. Tuff thing about my trade is that when it gets warm, we get very busy. Don't have the time to ride like I'd like to.
